"The Ramones, Road To Ruin - Colored Vinyl"
ROAD TO RUIN
Maybe it's that I'm bummed out (still) from Joey Ramone's death. Maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic. Maybe I'm just remembering the first time I ever heard the Ramones, when I was 16, riding around suburban Chicago when a friend of mine blasted out "I Just Want To Have Something To Do" on his jambox. I can't say that a single song changed my life, but I still get shivers when I hear those first chords of that song. That's the day I started listening to punk rock, and it's fair to say my whole worldview has changed with it.
The Ramones were an American original, and "Road To Ruin" comprises some of their best work. "I Want To Be Sedated," "Bad Brain," and "Go Mental" are some hilarious takes on mental health, while "Needles and Pins" could be the best cover ever done (Joey at his finest). Maybe the best song is "It's A Long Way Back," which is comprised of the following lyrics:
You by the phone You all alone It's a long way back to Germany It's a long way back to Germany
I'll miss Joey, and I miss the Ramones, but this record is as good as any at capturing the essence of those four dudes from Queens.

"The Ramones, ST - Colored Vinyl"
THE RAMONES - SELF TITLED - Collector’s Limited Edition High Quality Colored Vinyl LP.
With the three-chord assault of "Blitzkrieg Bop," The Ramones' begins at a blinding speed and never once over the course of its 14 songs does it let up. The Ramones' is all about speed, hooks, stupidity and simplicity. The songs are imaginative reductions of early rock & roll, girl group pop, and surf-rock. Not only is the music only boiled down to its essentials, but The Ramones' offer a twisted, comical take on pop culture with their lyrics, whether it's the horror schlock of "I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement," the drug deals of "53rd and 3rd," the gleeful violence of "Beat on the Brat" or the maniacal stupidity of "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue." And the cover of Chris Montez's "Let's Dance" isn't a throwaway - with its single-minded beat and lyrics, it encapsulates everything the group loves about pre-Beatles rock & roll. They don't alter the structure, or the intent, of the song, they simply make it louder and faster. And that's the key to all of The Ramones' music - it's simple rock & roll, played simply, loud, and very, very fast. None of the songs clock in at any longer than two and half minutes and most are considerably shorter.

5. What Can I Say, Dear - Red Garland Trio
6. Hey Now - Red Garland, Red Garland
When Red Garland was a member of Miles Davis's band in the late '50s, Davis would regularly depart the stage to feature Garland in a trio format. He was a complete jazz pianist, able to find ideal chordal extensions to prod a soloist, to swing aggressively with block chords, and to string together single note lines with buoyant energy and a bright articulation. He was capable of real delicacy, but his playing never descended to the decorative. His regular trio featured bassist Paul Chambers, his gifted partner from the Davis quintet, and drummer Art Taylor, a rock-solid timekeeper whose balance of subtlety and drive also made him Bud Powell's drummer of choice. Garland mated his harmonic sophistication to elements that communicated directly, his tunefulness, his rhythmic drive, and his vigorous roots in Texas and the Southwest blues traditions. They're evident everywhere here, from the medium-tempo swing of Ellington minimalist masterpiece "C-Jam Blues" to the deep, melancholic blues that infuse "Willow Weep for Me." Garland's Prestige recordings of the late '50s are models for the piano trio in modern jazz, and Groovy is among the best of them. -

Red Garland once got the rap that he was a glorified cocktail lounge pianist. Believe me I would have been a regular at any cocktail lounge where he was playing! In truth Red Garland was a great jazz pianist period! Just check out how many of his recordings remain in print after all these years. That tells you a lot! Any of his LP'S are worth owning; my favorites include those featuring him in a trio setting with bassists Sam Jones or Paul Chambers and drummers Art Taylor or Charlie Persip. Here he plays with Jones and Persip. Listen to any cut and you will be treated to consistently inventive swinging jazz. Maybe some folks took him for granted because he made it all sound so effortless. Don't take him for granted! Enjoy him!

On these tracks, both Paul Chambers and Art Taylor - A.T. - give a clinic on swinging without breaking the groove, ever. Red gives Benny Carter's "M Squad" a real going over, and "Your Red Wagon" is an up-tempo 'diddy-wah-diddy' masterpiece. This recording swings like crazy, as does "Can't See..." - the knock on the latter being that it clocks in at under 35 minutes total time. No matter. I've heard LPs, CDs, whatever twice as long that say half as much. "Red In Bluesville" smokes many other better known trio recordings.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack"
The ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW SOUNDTRACK LP
FACTORY SEALED LP -
Don't have the time (or the props) to watch the whole movie? Just put on the soundtrack--it's got all the best parts without the dialog in-between! Well, isn't that what an Original Soundtrack Recording like this is supposed to be? Back in the mid-70s when The Rocky Horror Picture Show was a midnight staple at countless movie theaters, Tim Curry wasn't yet "Tim Curry" and Susan Sarandon wasn't yet "Susan Sarandon" (hell, Barry Bostwick wasn't even "Barry Bostwick"!).
Listening to these science-fiction double-feature showtunes will take you back through a time warp to the days when the now-Academy-Award-winning actress was perfectly willing to stand around for most of a picture in her bra and panties--and so would her boyfriend! In those days, they were just Brad and Janet, forced to spend a dark and stormy (also sexy) night in the haunted house of mad scientist Frank N. Furter--just a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania-ha-ha who really knew how to belt out a song. Those were the days.

Album notes
FLOWERS is a compilation of UK tracks and singles put together by Decca Records (UK) in 1967, including tracks that appeared on the English versions of AFTERMATH and BETWEEN THE BUTTONS.
The Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger (vocals); Brian Jones, Keith Richards (guitar, background vocals); Bill Wyman (bass); Charlie Watts (drums).
This album represents a turning point for the Stones. Though they had not yet fully integrated the baroque aspirations of pop into their music, the flower-power influence had nonetheless begun to take root. While all the earlier elements of their sound are still firmly in place, in the folky "Backstreet Girl" and the relentlessly rocking "Let's Spend The Night Together," new sounds also crop up. Cuts like the woodwind-sweetened ballad "Ruby Tuesday" and the Middle Eastern-tinged "Mother's Little Helper" set the stage for the full-blown head-trip that would unveil itself later that year on THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST

"The Rolling Stones, No Security - UK Release - Double LP"
THE ROLLING STONES - NO SECURITY – UK RELEASE DOUBLE Masterpiece LP SET.
Live from The Bridges To Babylon World Tour. Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Nuremberg and St. Louis. In the Nineties, the Rolling Stones have marked the end of each of their colossal world tours with a live album. The twist on No Security, the band's third caught-in-the-act collection this decade, is the way that everything -- from golden oldies to midcareer hits to selections from Bridges to Babylon, the last studio album -- becomes more vital under the heavy lights of the big live rig. The Stones are experts at making more recent material sound as important as their warhorses: Bridges' "Out of Control" acquires a menacing swagger, while "Saint of Me" blossoms, approaching the vitriolic intensity of "Exile on Main Street." It's rare enough that the Rolling Stones share the stage with anyone, and there are some inspired cameos here: Taj Mahal enlivens "Corinna," Dave Matthews injects new, bittersweet sorrow into "Memory Motel," and saxophonist Joshua Redman soars through "Waiting on a Friend." But what's most impressive is the consistency with which the rhythm section, ever mindful of the groove fundamentals, cranks it up. The elemental No Security kind of makes you wonder whether the Stones shouldn't reverse their recent strategy and hit the stage first. - Rolling Stone

"The Rolling Stones, Stripped (Double LP) - UK Release - Euro Sealed - CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK"
THE ROLLING STONES - STRIPPED – UK RELEASE Out of Print DOUBLE LP Masterpiece
I read that Charlie called this an overlooked live Stones album that he considered their best. After listening to this, I agree. Stunning song selection, filled with gems and treasures. A must for the diehard Rolling Stones fan!
Stripped was released Nov 10, 1995. It was recorded earlier the same year during the Voodoo Lounge tour and it was the Stones 7th live album. The tracks on the album were actually recorded as follows:
.....May 26/27 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam (Keith said this was the best show the band ever did)
.....July 3 at the Olympia in Paris
.....July 19 at the Brixton Academy in London (probably their most famous club show)
