"Taj Mahal, Giant Step / De Old Folks"

Classic Analog Out Of Print LP Pressing One of the more woefully underappreciated blues artists of the last three decades, Taj Mahal has consistently made great records that combine his extensive knowledge of roots music with a refreshingly non-elitist sensibility. Giant Step/De Ole Folks At Home from 1969 was Taj's commercial high point, and it's easy to understand why. The first half of the album (originally released as a two-record set) features Taj and band blending rock, pop and blues on songs like "Take a Giant Step," "Give Your Woman What She Wants" and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl." The second half is more laid-back and down-home, with Taj essaying solo renditions of "Fishing Blues," "Stagger Lee" and "Light Rain Blues" on banjo, harmonica and acoustic guitar. The most effortlessly enjoyable record of an effortlessly enjoyable career. --Dan Epstein 1. Ain't Gwine Whistle Dixie (Anymo') 2. Take A Giant Step 3. Give Your Woman What She Wants (From the Motion Picture "The April Fools") 4. Good Morning Little School Girl 5. You're Gonna Need Somebody On Your Bond 6. Six Days On The Road (Album Version) 7. "Taj Mahal, S/T"

Classic Analog Out Of Print LP Pressing Taj Mahal (Henry Sainte Claire Fredericks)-singer, multi- instrumentalist, and ethnomusicologist-has described blues as "a very sensual, down-into-the-body music." One of the most prominent figures in late 20th century blues, singer/multi-instrumentalist Henry St. Clair Fredericks played an enormous role in revitalizing and preserving traditional blues. His self-titled debut album was recorded in August 1967, and came out just as several established blues stars ventured into psychedelia and rock n' roll at the insistence of their record companies. But not Taj Mahal. These arrangements may be updated when compared to what Robert Johnson or Willie McTell did thirty-five years earlier, but it's still the blues, genuine, mostly acoustic blues, dominated by harp and howling slide guitar. These lean, stripped-down arrangements were alien to most record producers at the time, and they are part of the reason why this album holds up so well. Tracks include: 1. Leaving Truck 2. Statesboro Blues 3. Checkin' Up On My Baby 4. Everybody's Got To Change Sometime 5. E Z Rider 6. Dust My Broom 7. Diving Duck Blues 8. The Celebrated Walkin' Blues

  "Taj Mahal, The Natch'l Blues"

TAJ MAHAL - The Natch’l Blues - Out of Print LP - Analog vinyl pressing for superior fidelity. Taj Mahal (Henry Sainte Claire Fredericks)-singer, multi- instrumentalist, and ethnomusicologist-has described blues as "a very sensual, down-into-the-body music." Taj Mahal's been chasing the blues around the world for years, but rarely with the passion, energy, and clarity he brought to his first three albums. Taj Mahal, The Natch'l Blues and The Real Thing are the sound of the artist, who was born in 1942, defining himself and his music. On his self-titled 1967 debut, he not only honors the sound of the Delta masters with his driving National steel guitar and hard vocal shout, but ladles in elements of rock and country with the help of guitarists Ry Cooder and the late Jessie Ed Davis. This approach is reinforced and broadened by The Natch'l Blues. What's most striking is Mahal's way of making even the oldest themes sound as if they're part of a new era. Not just through the vigor of his playing--relentlessly propulsive, yet stripped down compared with the six-string ornamentations of the original masters of country blues--but through his singing, which possesses a knowing insouciance distinct to post-Woodstock counterculture hipsters. It's the voice of an informed young man who knows he's offering something deep to an equally hip and receptive audience. Tracks include: 1. Good Morning Miss Brown 2. Corinna 3. I Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Steal My Jellyroll 4. Going Up To The Country, Paint My Mailbox Blue 5. Done Changed My Way Of Living 6. She Caught The Katy And Left Me A Mule To Ride 7. The Cuckoo 8. You Don't Miss Your Water ('Til Your Well Runs Dry) 9. Ain't That A Lot Of Love 10. The Cuckoo (Alternate Version) 11. New Stranger Blues 12. Things Are Gonna Work Out Fine

The live 1971 set, The Real Thing, finds him still carrying the Mississippi torch, while adding overt elements of jazz and Afro-Caribbean music to its flame. -these albums set the stage for Mahal's career. Tracks on THE REAL THING include: 1. Fishin' Blues 2. Ain't Gwine to Whistle Dixie (Any Mo') 3. Sweet Mama Janisse 4. Going up to the Country, Paint My Mailbox Blue 5. Big Kneed Gal 6. "Tears For Fears, Songs From The Big Chair"

Classic Analog Out Of Print LP Pressing w/ small cut out in cover. TEARS FOR FEARS - SONG FROM THE BIG CHAIR - original RELEASE pressing. TWENTY YEARS OUT OF PRINT. Out of Print FACTORY SEALED Analog LP with small cutout on jacket both out of print for decades. Track listing 1. Shout 2. Working Hour, The 3. Everybody Wants to Rule the World 4. Mothers Talk 5. I Believe 6. Broken 7. Head Over Heels / Broken 8. Listen 9. Shout - (Extended mix, bonus track) 10. Everybody Wants to Rule the World - (Extended mix, bonus track) Tears For Fears: Roland Orzabal (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards); Curt Smith (vocals, bass); Ian Stanley (keyboards); Manny Elias (drums). Additional personnel includes: Neil Taylor (guitar); William Taylor, Mel Collins (saxophone); Andy Davis (piano); Chris Hughes, Jerry Marotta (drums); Marilyn Davis, Annie McCaig, Sandy McLelland (background vocals). Producers: Chris Hughes, Ian Stanley, Tears For Fears. Compilation producer: Mike Gill. Includes liner notes by Sean Egan. Although the opening track, "Shout," takes on the theme of catharsis that dominated THE HURTING two years earlier, the progression evident from that debut to SONGS FROM THE BIG CHAIR is manifest in every other facet. While many of the band's synth-pop peers continued to develop along a linear route, Tears For Fears vaulted into the potentially insipid world of '80s MOR. Curt Smith sings on the radio-friendly "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," but Roland Orzabal's stronger voice takes center-stage for much of the album, including the spirited single "Mother's Talk" and a falsetto on the stadium-sized "Head Over Heels." "The Working Hour" is the perfect realization of the new sound: a smooth six-minute arrangement of saxophone, piano, and guitar that's marked by a restrained sense of drama. SONGS FROM THE BIG CHAIR is an excellent album and, shading Simple Minds' ONCE UPON A TIME, arguably the finest example of epic '80s pop. The 1998 remastered edition includes seven bonus tracks.

"Ted Nugent, Double Live Gonzo (2 LPs)"

TED NUGENT - DOUBLE LIVE - GONZO! FACTORY SEALED DOUBLE LP - analog vinyl pressing If you like hard R & R you dont' have to miss it. Ted Nugent, the Motor City Madman, is really a mad rocker, full of energy and vitality. And he's also a good guitarist and he can prove it. Listening to this disc is like beeing at the show: you can feel the intensity of the sound mixed with the involvement of the guys watching the "jungle man" torturating his guitar and wandering like an obsessed along the stage. Nugent may not be the best guitarist to ever crank out a lick, or the best showman to ever grace a stage ... but combine the two together and the combined product is pure excellence. This album captures the heart and soul of a performer greater than any other live album . If you're new to the Nuge, let "Great White Buffalo" melt into your mouth for a little bit ... because you'll be lucky if you ever see Uncle Ted play it live... perhaps because it just cannot be captured any better that on this album. Tracks include: Just What The Doctor Ordered/Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, July 1977 Wang Dang Sweet Poontang/Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, July 1977 Cat Scratch Fever/Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, July 1977 Stormtroopin/Seattle Center Coliseum,August 1977 Hibernation/San Antonio Convention Center, July 1976 Motor City Madhouse/Dalls, July 1976 Stranglehold/Civic Center Springfield, Mass, June 1976 Gonzo/Joe Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio November 1977 Baby, Please Don’t Go/Taylor County Coliseum, Abilene Texas, November 1977 Yank Me, Crank Me/Taylor County Coliseum, Abilene Texas, November 1977 Great White Buffalo/Dallas, July 1976

"Temptations, Cloud Nine"

"Temptations, Cloud Nine"

CLOUD NINE When this album was originally released in early '69, it was a gamble. Could the Temptations, known as smooth melodic crooners of love songs, successfully reinvent themselves as contemporaries of Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic, and the Chambers Brothers, with their psychedelic rock and soul sounds? The answer was YES. CLOUD NINE, this masterpiece by produced by Norman Whitfield, the most soulful producer to ever come out of Motown, is one of my favorite LPs by the Temptations. The grittiness of "Cloud Nine", the title song and the album opener (and the first single from the album, released in late 1968) demands that you pay attention to what the Tempts are saying. Songwriter Barrett Strong's words come to life as newest Temptation Dennis Edwards tells the story of growing up poor in the inner city...and the debate about this song continues to this day. Was the song about getting high, or just changing your way of thinking? A funky rendition of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" takes Gladys Knight and the Pips' version, strips it down to the rhythm track, and emphasizes the Tempts' harmonies above everything else. I LOVE the scatting on this track!! The nine minute and thirty-eight second version of "Runaway Child, Running Wild" is worth the price of the LP alone. Simply relentless, with the sound of a child crying for his mother. What was really great about this LP was the use of multiple vocalists singing different parts at the same time on each song. Prior to this LP, you'd basically have David Ruffin, or sometimes Eddie Kendricks singing the lead and the rest of the guys singing "Oooh, waaa" or "Oh baby" in the background. However on these three cuts on CLOUD NINE you might hear Dennis, then Eddie, then Paul, the Melvin, then Otis...all on the same song! I just love it. The second part of the LP, to me, seemed to let Temptations' fans know that they could still sing the love ballads in the way that made them famous, even though David Ruffin was no longer in the group by then. There are some very nice remakes on it ("Love Is A Hurtin' Thing", "Hey Girl") plus some beautiful original tunes ("I Need Your Lovin'" with Eddie Kendricks on lead vocals, "Don't Let Him Take Your Love From Me", a Paul Williams standout lead, "Why Did She Have To Leave Me" and others). A daring bit of work that forever changed Motown, and a definite part of their history, since "Cloud Nine" was the very first Motown tune ever to win a Grammy. Get it, and you too will be on CLOUD NINE! Track Listings 1. Cloud Nine 2. I Heard It Through the Grapevine 3. Runaway Child, Running Wild 4. Love Is a Hurtin' Thing 5. Hey Girl (I Like Your Style) 6. Why Did She Have to Leave Me (Why Did She Have to Go?) 7. I Need Your Lovin' 8. Don't Let Him Take Your Love from Me 9. I Gotta Find a Way (To Get You Back) 10. Excerpts from Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, the white album, Abbey Road, and Let It Be compete for space with classic singles that do as much or more to prove their eclecticism: the epic ballad "Hey Jude," the plaintive "Strawberry Fields Forever," straight rock & roll of all stripes from the plainspoken "Revolution" and "Get Back" to the surreal "Come Together." Decades after the split, this (and its companion set of 1962-1966 cuts) remains a favored introduction for young listeners and a key sampler for veteran fans. 1. Strawberry Fields Forever 2. Limited Edition Analog Virgin Vinyl. The Beatles Anthology 3 promises to be the most interesting and appealing of the series. It covers the period from May 1968 with some great early demos recorded at George Harrison's home, through studio outtakes of the White Album, Let It Be, and their final album Abbey Road. Also included are a number of previously unreleased Beatles songs including Paul's demo for Badfinger of Come and Get It, John's experimental What's The New Mary Jane, and George's early demo of All Things Must Pass. Furthermore, look for a great alternative, bluesier version of Helter Skelter, an incredible acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, an early take of Cry Baby Cry, and Ringo's first performance of Good Night with George Martin playing piano.

These Anthology 3 LP sets (One, Two and Three) are long out of print and are becoming rarer and more valuable day by day especially in these LP pressings. Enjoy being one of the last people in the world to own this rare piece of The Beatles history on vinyl. The second in the series of Rare unreleased Beatles recordings covers the group’s famed middle period featuring George Harrison’s classic track 11 out-take of TAXMAN. "TAXMAN", the opening title on REVOLVER was Harrison’s acerbic and witty view of the inescapable realities of life. Track 12 was the Master Recording – this being a reduction or bounce of Track 11. (These are terms for a recording process taken up by The Beatles around this time, where, by merging two or more existing tracks of a tape while copying it across to a second tape, vacant tracks are created allowing for further overdubbing. Abbey Road was still using 4-Track Recording Machines in 1966 so this process was often necessary.) Issued here for the first time on Vinyl is that Track 11 not dis-similar to the Master but with some notable differences, principally in the clean full ending (instead of the repeated guitar solo) and the “anybody got a bit of money?” backing vocals (instead of the Mr. Wilson Mr. Heath reference). George Harrison penned ONLY A NORTHERN SONG. Although not issued on disc until YELLOW SUBMARINE soundtrack Album in January of 1969, Harrison’s ONLY A NORTHERN SONG was written and first intended for SGT. PEPPER, its place in the recording chronology coming between other PEPPER tracks, FIXING A HOLE and BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR. KITE. The Master of ONLY A NORTHERN SONG combined Track 3 (with overdubs) and a “reduction” of this Track 11 (with further overdub), simultaneously mixed into Mono. The mixes presented here in Stereo and slightly sped up, is Track 3 the basic track from February 13th, 1967 with bass and guitar added on April 20th with unissued vocal tracks (yielding a number of lyric vibrations from the Master) overdub onto a separate “reduction”, Track 12, flown in. The last Harrison penned track within ANTHOLOGY 2 is the Master of George Harrison’s composition that opened Side 2 of SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, presented here in a fashion not previously available on Vinyl remixed, without George’s vocal from the different original 4-track tapes that formed that Master. WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU (instrumental) what remains, audible to the fore is a combination of tamboura, tabla, dilruba and swaramandal tracks recorded in March with violins, cellos, and George’s sitar track overdubbed on April 3, 1967. ANTHOLOGY 2 features out-takes, demos and alternate versions of songs from the albums, HELP, RUBBER SOUL, REVOLVER, SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, and MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR. There are also three previously unreleased Beatles Songs from 1965, several live cuts and the second of The Beatles new recordings, “Real Love”, which began as a late seventies demo and completed in 1995 by George Harrison, Paul Mc Cartney and Ringo Starr.
