"Jay-Z, In My Lifetime Vol. 1 (2 LPs) - EXPLICIT LANGUAGE"

Classic Analog LP Pressing Jay-Z's second release, IN MY LIFETIME, came out at the right time, just as Puff Daddy had helped rap come into the mainstream. It still retained that "underground" tip and incorporated more party-starting beats without seeming overly flashy. His lyrics are both well-delivered, interesting and EXPLICIT. The beats are funky, inspired, rarely boring, and they complement the songs well. Jay-Z smartly kicks off his disc with two short primo-laced tracks, and that sets the tone perfectly as well as including Puff Daddy and L'il Kim as guest artists. Tracks include: . Intro/A Million and One Questions/Rhyme No More -. City Is Mine - Black street -. I Know What Girls Like - Imaginary Player -. Streets Is Watching - . Friend or Foe '98 - Lucky Me - (Always Be My) Sunshine - Baby face - Who You Wit II -. Face Off -. Real Niggaz -. Rap Game/Crack Game -. Where I'm From - You Must Love Me

"Jeff Beck, Beck-Ola" - Product Image

"Jeff Beck, Beck-Ola"

Classic Analog LP Pressing BECK-OLA If the Jeff Beck Group's 1968 debut, "Truth" is the blueprint for Led Zeppelin's debut as well as much of what we might call hard rock or metal through the '70s (Van Halen, etc) and beyond, "Beck-Ola," the 1969 followup is savage, malevelont, and chaotic, albeit less accessable. Certainly the more calculating Jimmy Page never put out anything quite so raw, in every sense of the word. The edgy quality makes it no surprise that the amazing lineup - Beck, Ron Wood, Rod Stewart, Nicky Hopkins, and in place of Mick Waller, drummer Tony Newman - broke up three months after its completion. Beck has switched to a '54 Stratocaster, and "Beck-Ola" suggests Led Zeppelin having a showdown with the Stooges circa "Funhouse." Wood and Stewart wrote most of the material, and it is here that Stewart's songwriting voice (his humor especially) is first evident (check "Spanish Boots"). In the same vein as TRUTH, albeit minus quieter moments like "Ol' Man River", "Morning Dew" and "Greensleeves", BECK-OLA is a rip-roaring, nearly perfect hard rock follow up. Once again, Stewart's signature vocal style steals much of the show, as he is simply amazing on every track in which he appears. Energetic covers of "All Shook Up" and "Jailhouse Rock" (the latter with some particularly superb piano) stand alongside some of Beck's finest original hard rockers "Spanish Boots" and "Plynth", with riffs that would have made Zeppelin proud. The ever-present Zep connection continues with the epic closing cut "Rice Pudding", anchored by its larger-than-life riff and multi-layered, shifting guitar solos (especially the soaring slide segment). BECK-OLA was to be his last consistent work for six years, until the arrival of the very different BLOW BY BLOW. This album is highly recommended to fans of Beck, Stewart, the early metal/Zep sound and hard rock in general. Track Listings 1. All Shook Up 2. Spanish Boots 3. Girl from Mill Valley 4. Jailhouse Rock 5. Plynth (Water Down the Drain) 6. Hangman's Knee 7. Rice Pudding

"Jeff Beck, Blow by Blow" - Product Image

"Jeff Beck, Blow by Blow"

JEFF BECK - BLOW BY BLOW - Out of Print SEALED LP His guitar-slinging contributions to the Yardbirds having dwarfed those of Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck spent the next several years playing blues-rock (the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart), soul-rock (the second edition of that band), and leading a power trio. Then, he made this all-instrumental album, which was a huge 1975 success. Produced by George Martin, the nine-song session finds Beck fronting a keyboards-bass-drums outfit, augmented by some tastefully unobtrusive string arrangements. Call it a jazz-fusion album at your own risk. While Beck's playing is less in-your-face than his previous efforts, all the fierce attack, thick tone, microtonal bends, distortion, feedback, vibrato, sustain, sonic hoodoo, and rhythmic and harmonic creativity that the man's fans have come to know and love can be heard here. "Freeway Jam" boasts the most memorable melody and thus remains a Classic Rock staple to this day. "Cause We've Ended As Lovers"--written by Stevie Wonder--is Beck's gorgeous tribute to one of his own guitar-heroes, the now-deceased Roy Buchanan.

"Jeff Beck, Truth" - Product Image

"Jeff Beck, Truth"

Classic Analog LP Pressing. After leaving the Yardbirds in late-1966, Jeff Beck hooked up with pop-meister Mickie Most (Herman's Hermits, Donovan) but had little luck with the UK singles chart. By 1968, Beck enlisted vocalist Rod Stewart, bass player Ron Wood, and drummer Mickey Waller. Their debut TRUTH would be the most consistently satisfying album of Beck's career. The album kicks off with a reworking of the 1966 Yardbird's hit "Shapes of Things" and from there presents a string of blues-based songs that would become the framework for heavy metal in general and Led Zeppelin in particular. The only serious misstep is the inclusion of "Old Man River" from the 1951 musical Show Boat. It may help show us Stewart's range as a vocalist, but it's not much of a showcase for Beck's virtuosity as a guitar-slinger. The only other out-of-character tune is Beck's solo rendition of the traditional "Greensleeves." But as he remarks in the liner notes, "Aye that's a lovely 'toon'," and his acoustic reading is a reflective counterpoint to most of the rest of the material contained on the album. Highlights include "You Shook Me," "Rock My Plimsoul" and the guitar workout "Beck's Bolero," but the standout track is "I Ain't Superstitious." As a bandleader, Beck could be temperamental and his bands tended to not last for more than one or two albums. [The follow-up "Beck-Ola" featured a different drummer plus the addition of keyboardist Nicky Hopkins and would be that group's last.] Beck's post-Sixties work always showed flashes of brilliance but Truth belongs in any serious music collector's library

"Jerry Garcia, Live at Keystone Vol.2"

Factory Sealed Classic Analog LP Pressing. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and ears. The way music was meant to be heard. Out of Print forever! John Kahn is a fantastic bassist who provides an interesting contrast to the Dead's bass player, Phil Lesh. His playing helps bring out plenty of sweet lyrical magic from Jerry's guitar. Jerry Garcia's Live at Keystone is a side project with Merl Saunders and is one of his best individual performances .Highly recommended. For most of the 1970s, keyboardist Merl Saunders was Jerry Garcia's main musical foil away from his main band, allowing the Grateful Dead icon a chance to really broaden his horizons. Dates from 1973 at San Francisco's Keystone with bassist John Kahn and drummer Bill Vitt have yielded three CDs' worth of material--Volume 1 and Keystone Encores augment this particularly strong set. Here the quartet tackles a pair of rollicking rockabilly numbers, a blues staple, a wonderfully touching, soulful ballad, and the standard "My Funny Valentine," the latter delivered in a rather exploratory style. --Marc Greilsamer . "Jimi Hendrix, Live At The Fillmore East - 3 LP Set - CURRENTLY SOLD OUT"

JIMI HENDRIX - LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST - OUT OF PRINT 3-LP Set is a piece of musical audiophile history of this classic recording which is out of print forever. Though it was made largely to help disentangle Hendrix from a thorny contractual dispute, 1970's live Band of Gypsies LP -- pulled from four concerts recorded over New Year's Eve and Day in 1969-70 -- stands as one of Hendrix's most remarkable guitar statements, and an integral part of his recorded legacy. The 3 LP Set accounts for a large portion of the remainder of those concerts. Highlights include a stunning jam in a revamped "Stone Free", "Auld Lang Syne" as only Hendrix could have played it, a playful "Who Knows" with an improvised New Year's lyric, alternate versions of the guitar showcases "Machine Gun" and "Voodoo Child". Drummer, Buddy Miles (with bassist Billy Cox, The Band of Gypsys in full) takes the spotlight on the funky -- if very out of tune "Stop." As his legend deepens, thirsty Hendrix devotees will find plenty of refreshment here. Track Listings 1. Stone Free 2. Power of Soul 3. Hear My Train A Comin' 4. Machine Gun 5. Izabella 6. "Jimmy Forrest, Black Forrest"

JIMMY FORREST BLACK FORREST FACTORY SEALED LP Playing on the cusp of Kansas City swing and bebop, Jimmy Forrest fashioned his tone from St. Louis, a perfect spot to mix jazz languages, situated as it is between K.C. and the Big Apple. On this 1959 date, Forrest opens up standard jams like "These Foolish Things" and "What's New" and jumps inside with the help of a top-shelf unit: guitarist and fellow St. Louisan Grant Green (in his recording debut), drummer Elvin Jones, pianist Harold Mabern, and bassist Gene Ramey. Forrest's tenor tone alternates between punchingly tough and waveringly singsong (a la the great Lester Young, who cut his own swath through K.C.). The tunes are all festively loose, except when they're touching. As for the band, little more can be said than their very names to underscore their position in the jazz canon.

"Jimmy Forrest, Forrest Fire"

JIMMY FORREST - FORREST FIRE FACTORY SEALED LP Jimmy Forrest was an archetypical tenor saxophonist who could mix blues, bebop, and ballads into a repertoire that was at once soulful, harmonically aware, and tuneful. This recording, one of the first for organist Larry Young and his working trio, was done at the time Forrest and Harry "Sweets" Edison were co-leading a group and before the time Forrest went on to even greater visibility as a member of Count Basie's orchestra. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Jimmy Forrest, Most Much!"

JIMMY FORREST - MOST MUCH! FACTORY SEALED LP Jimmy Forrest came up through the big band ranks and his tasty, swinging tenor echoes this vital experience in the very cavern of his big sound. That strength-with-warmth stands out on "Autumn Leaves," and the solid blues feeling oozed through on "Soft Winds," "Most Much" and "Robbins' Nest," contrasting with the cool right-hand solo lines of pianist Hugh Lawson. For variety there is the calypso, "Matilda," long associated with Harry Belafonte, its rhythm aided here by Ray Barretto's conga. For a bonus, there are "I Love You" and "Sonny Boy," recorded on the same date as the others but heretofore issued only on another Forrest album, Soul Street. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Jimmy Forrest, Out Of The Forrest"

JIMMY FORREST - OUT OF THE FORREST FACTORY SEALED LP From the time Coleman Hawkins firmly established the tenor saxophone on the jazz map, it has been one of the most potent forces in the music, its best practioners able to raise the roof with a jumping blues, soothe the savage beast with a tender love ballad, and do just about anything in between. At the time of this recording (1961), Jimmy Forrest, the St. Louis-born reedman, was a veteran of the Fate Marable, Jay McShann, Andy Kirk, and Duke Ellington bands. Later in his career he starred with Count Basie. Here he leads a quartet of teammates from the combo of "Sweets" Edison, including the young Austrian pianist Joe Zawinul, through a gamut of the aforementioned moods from "Crash Program" to the caressing "That's All," with a few tips of the cap to Ben Webster along the way. "Jimmy McGriff, Groove Grease"

FACTORY SEALED - "GROOVE GREASE" plays funk infused jazz. This album is hopelessly lost in the 1970's -and that's part of what's so great about "GROOVE GREASE." The crowning tribute here to bell bottoms, pet rocks and platform shoes is the 'PLAIN BROWN BAG.' Other recognizable covers include 'CANADIAN SUNSET' and 'MR. LUCKY.' Jimmy's Hammond B-3 spews out chunks of funk, while the bass plays fat grooves and a greasy brass section punctuates just the right moments. An occasional WAYNE BENNETT guitar solo provides some elegance. In terms of significance, this music is now the roots of acid jazz. "GROOVE GREASE" isn't a timeless classic, it's an unapologetically dated gem. 1. Groove Grease 2. The Bird 3. Plain Brown Bag 4. There will Never Be Another You 5. Canadien Sunset 6. Mr. Lucky 7.
