This 3-disc box set contains over 50 tracks, all remastered. It also includes a 64-page booklet containing extensive liner notes by Jeff Tamarkin and Bill Thompson, complete recording notation and a U.S. release discography. The set spans a period from an early Marty Balin solo recording in 1962 through a live recording of "You Wear Your Dresses Too Short" from 1972.
If any group deserves a box set career retrospective, it's the Airplane, a great band that post-punk critics have scandalously undervalued. Sorry, but the Airplane was not--repeat, not--just a bunch of stoned hippies singing innocuous little ditties about flower power. Rather, they were one of the most ferocious live acts of their day, terrific songwriters capable of both tender ballads and squalling, almost atonal rockers, and they had attitude to burn, which is a roundabout way of saying that they had more in common with the punks that followed them than those punks were prepared to admit.
In any case, this set is not strictly speaking a greatest-hits package, although just about every important Airplane song is represented; it is LOVES YOU's smart idea, however, to present most of them in previously unreleased live versions. This is a particularly good move, given that the Airplane's studio albums, up to and including VOLUNTEERS, were consistently among the worst produced of any major band of their era, and while no live recording really does justice to the Airplane's monumental concert sound, the ones here come close enough. Essential listening.

First issued in the early 1960s, this collection of musical Christmas cheer is packed full of the smoothly sung, sentimental favorites associated as much with Nat "King" Cole himself as with the season. The singer's performance of "The Christmas Song" is an unforgettable classic reprised here twice, once in an updated version that includes a contemporary vocal from his daughter, Natalie, and also in Cole's original 1946 recording. Other traditional religious favorites like "I Saw Three Ships" and "Away in a Manger" are also featured, in a setting that, with its well-arranged orchestral accompaniment, manages to sound both sophisticated and folksy.

Produced by Paul McCartney, Chris Thomas, Linda McCartney and George Martin. Despite the title of this 4 LP Set, WINGSPAN is actually a mix of Paul McCartney’s solo songs and work created with his ‘70s band, divided into “Hits” and “History”. Material like “Silly Love Songs”, “My Love”, “Bluebird” and “Listen To What The Man Said” fully embraces McCartney’s reputation as the romantic while he also rocked the charts as hard as Lennon with numbers like “Band On The Run”, “Jet” “Junior’s Farm” and “Hi Hi Hi”.
Along the way, McCartney and Wings had a hand in a few pop-culture milestones. Among the most notable were creating arguably the greatest James Bond theme to date (“Live and Let Die”) and topping the UK charts at the height of the 1977 punk revolution and a modern Celtic folk anthem (“Mull of Kintyre”). Other more obscure but equally deserving Wings moments include the epic anthem “Rockestra Theme” (written for the London Benefit Concert in aid of UNICEF and Kampuchean refugees).
