Formed in 1973, the British hard rock outfit Bad Company was a supergroup comprised of ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell, former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, and singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, both previous members of Free. Powered by Rodgers' muscular vocals and Ralphs' blues-based guitar work, Bad Company was the first group signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song vanity label. Bad Company's eponymous 1974 debut was an international hit, topping the U.S. album charts and scoring with the number one single "Can't Get Enough of Your Love."
Straight Shooter, issued the following year, was another major success, notching the hit "Feel Like Makin' Love," while 1976's Run With the Pack was Bad Company's third consecutive million-selling record. After 1977's Burnin' Sky, Bad Company recorded 1979's Desolation Angels, which embellished the group's sound with synthesizers and strings; a three-year hiatus followed before the release of Rough Diamonds, the group's final LP in its original incarnation.

There a must for any true collector. It's so rare that on some of these tracks "The Beatles" themselves had a hard time remembering who was participating on some of these masters tracks. These Anthology 3 LP sets (One, Two and Three) are long out of print and are becoming rarer and more valuable day by day especially in these LP pressings. Enjoy being one of the last people in the world to own this rare piece of The Beatles history on vinyl.
ANTHOLOGY II - The second in the series of Rare unreleased Beatles recordings covers the group’s famed middle period featuring George Harrison’s classic track 11 out-take of TAXMAN. "TAXMAN", the opening title on REVOLVER was Harrison’s acerbic and witty view of the inescapable realities of life. Track 12 was the Master Recording – this being a reduction or bounce of Track 11. (These are terms for a recording process taken up by The Beatles around this time, where, by merging two or more existing tracks of a tape while copying it across to a second tape, vacant tracks are created allowing for further overdubbing.
Abbey Road was still using 4-Track Recording Machines in 1966 so this process was often necessary.) Issued here for the first time on Vinyl is that Track 11 not dis-similar to the Master but with some notable differences, principally in the clean full ending (instead of the repeated guitar solo) and the “anybody got a bit of money?” backing vocals (instead of the Mr. Wilson Mr. Heath reference).
George Harrison penned ONLY A NORTHERN SONG. Although not issued on disc until YELLOW SUBMARINE soundtrack Album in January of 1969, Harrison’s ONLY A NORTHERN SONG was written and first intended for SGT. PEPPER, its place in the recording chronology coming between other PEPPER tracks, FIXING A HOLE and BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR. KITE. The Master of ONLY A NORTHERN SONG combined Track 3 (with overdubs) and a “reduction” of this Track 11 (with further overdub), simultaneously mixed into Mono. The mixes presented here in Stereo and slightly sped up, is Track 3 the basic track from February 13th, 1967 with bass and guitar added on April 20th with unissued vocal tracks (yielding a number of lyric vibrations from the Master) overdub onto a separate “reduction”, Track 12, flown in.
The last Harrison penned track within ANTHOLOGY 2 is the Master of George Harrison’s composition that opened Side 2 of SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, presented here in a fashion not previously available on Vinyl remixed, without George’s vocal from the different original 4-track tapes that formed that Master. WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU (instrumental) what remains, audible to the fore is a combination of tamboura, tabla, dilruba and swaramandal tracks recorded in March with violins, cellos, and George’s sitar track overdubbed on April 3, 1967.
ANTHOLOGY 2 features out-takes, demos and alternate versions of songs from the albums, HELP, RUBBER SOUL, REVOLVER, SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, and MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR. There are also three previously unreleased Beatles Songs from 1965, several live cuts and the second of The Beatles new recordings, “Real Love”, which began as a late seventies demo and completed in 1995 by George Harrison, Paul Mc Cartney and Ringo Starr.

This masterpiece has, as its real discoveries, George Harrison’s 8 solo demos including the electric-guitar and-vocal performances of SOMETHING and ALL THINGS MUST PASS plus PIGGIES, MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS, NOT GUILTY, FOR YOU BLUE, OLD BROWN SHOE, I ME MINE. They nearly ache with beauty, and Harrison sings them as if discovering his voice for the first time. The finished versions couldn’t possibly stand up to these demos which are among the highlights of the BEATLES ANTHOLOGY Series and the only time ever on Vinyl.
If BEATLES ANTHOLOGY 2 was a study of how a Beatles song came together, ANTHOLOGY 3 is a study of how The Beatles themselves came apart. Mc Cartney was now an unabashed Pop Balladeer, Lennon a sneering Pop Humorist and Experimenter, and Harrison a separate song-writing force aching to be unleashed. This is a stunning example of Harrison coming into his own and his eventual release of ALL THINGS MUST PASS.

By blending a rich tapestry of blues, country, folk and rock, BLONDE ON BLONDE is an album of limitless depth filled with lyrical and musical revelations. Recorded in Nashville with Al Kooper and Robbie Robertson, as well as other fabulous session players, the album is filled with cutting guitar riffs and liquid organ fills. Opening with the epic "Like a Rolling Stone," Highway 61 Revisited careens through nine songs that range from reflective folk-rock and blues to flat-out garage rock. Highway 61 Revisited had not only changed Dylan's sound, but his persona, trading the folk troubadour for a streetwise, cynical hipster. Highway 61 Revisited proved that rock & roll needn't be collegiate and tame in order to be literate, poetic and complex.

This Album by Bob Dylan ranked 48th in NME’s list of The Greatest Albums of All-Time. Accompanying Dylan on this recording are John Hammond, John Sebastian, Bobby Gregg, Kenneth Rankin. Recorded at Columbia Records Studios, New York, New York in January of 1965.
Howls of rage greeted Dylan as he presented the world with folk/rock - he was soundly booed at both the Newport Folk Festival and Royal Albert Hall. Yet, here is one of those moments of cross-influence that changed the course of popular music.

LOVE AND THEFT won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
This Limited edition of LOVE AND THEFT included a bonus disc of 2 previously unreleased recordings from 1961 & 1963.
Bob Dylan's career has always been about defying expectations. Accordingly he followed 1997's much-heralded TIME OUT OF MIND with a marked about-face. Where its predecessor was a bleak emotional landscape full of languid atmospheres, existential sentiments, and graveyard vocal delivery, LOVE AND THEFT finds Dylan much more energized and hopeful. Instead of swamp-like textures, we get sharp, cracking bar-band blues, and lissome ballads with a '20s/'30s feel. The old codger has never sounded more spry; after observing that "summer days and summer nights are gone," he follows up with "I know a place where there's still something going on." Elsewhere he's variously hunting bear, standing on a table to make a toast, burning down a house, and starting a new empire.
The musical context for all this uproar is informed more heavily by Dylan's earliest Americana roots than anything other than his albums of traditional folk songs. Delta and Chicago blues are templates for many songs, while a few others even more anachronistically suggest a future for Dylan as ghost writer for Leon Redbone. The lyrics themselves are littered with quotes from/references to old blues tunes, but Dylan's classic non-linear structure and wild imagination allow him to transcend his influences even as he assimilates them.

The Original Mono Recordings are comprised of these albums painstakingly reproduced from their first generation monaural mixes as the artist intended them to be heard: One channel of powerful sound, both direct and immediate. While stereo recordings had been available as early as the mid-1950s, mono was still the predominant – and often preferred – mode of recording and mixing by the top artists of the 1960s. As a result, artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan devoted their attention to the mono mixes, leaving the stereo mixing process to studio engineers.

The seventh volume of Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series doubles as the soundtrack to No Direction Home, Martin Scorsese's feature-length documentary covering Dylan's career from its beginnings to 1966 (it was aired in two parts on PBS in September 2005 and released in expanded form on DVD that same month). Unlike the previous installments of The Bootleg Series, which focused exclusively on live concerts, No Direction Home is assembled from a variety of sources, including home recordings, publishing demos, alternate studio takes and live recordings. In fact, No Direction Home proceeds chronologically, filling in gaps between the proper albums or, more often, providing a parallel history of the most productive era of Dylan's career. This is the first Dylan record to offer an aural biography of Dylan. Another in the series of Classic Legacy Bob Dylan Bootleg series on Vinyl.This edition was cut from the 1/2" analog master tape on the Classic all tube cutting system by Bernie Grundman and features a deluxe box housing three LP's - each in unique jackets. Also included is a 60 pg 12 x 12 perfect bound booklet, and a custom 12" x 8" letter pressed vintage tour poster.
It does seem strange, very strange indeed, to be hearing an official release of this historic concert, which has been available as a bootleg for decades. The Halloween gig at Philharmonic Hall in New York was a special part of the tour for Another Side of Bob Dylan, arguably his greatest acoustic recording. What's more poignant, however, is how it previews the material on Bringing It All Back Home.
While the songs on Another Side hinted at things to come, nothing could have prepared audiences for the dreamy surrealism of "Mr. Tambourine Man," or the nightmarish abstract poetry of "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)," and "Gates Of Eden" (all of which appear on Disc One The remainder of the material comes from Dylan's preceding catalog; there are stirring protest and topical songs, folk songs, humorous narratives, love songs, great wisecracks, and talking blues ("Talking John Birch Paranoid Blues!"), most of them classics "With God on Our Side," "Hard Rain's Gonna Fall," "Times They Are A-Changin'," "Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll," "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright," "Mama You've Been on My Mind," "All I Really Want to Do," "It Ain't Me Babe," etc.
All of these songs and many others (there are 17 in all) are delivered with the confidence of the seasoned performer; a man who knows his audience and how to handle them. It's not cynical, not detached, just masterful. For those unfamiliar with this set, Joan Baez makes an appearance near the end of the show, and duets with Dylan on four cuts including an amazing read of "Silver Dagger."
It is true that if you possess the boot, you have all the music here, and chances are, it has some pretty good sound. But you'll need this version, too. For starters, the sound is spectacular, wonderfully warm and immediate, and the transfer is extremely clean with wonderful dynamics.
Secondly, the package is deluxe. In addition to a fine essay by Princeton historian and author Sean Wilentz (he made the gig when he was 13), there are a truckload of killer photos from the show and the period, along with complete discographical information that puts the bootleg packages to shame.
For those interested in the acoustic Bob Dylan, this concert is like the grail; his voice is in impeccable shape, and his delivery is revelatory. For those interested in the transition from acoustic to electric, this show is the seam, and for who are diehard fans, this is another welcome item in the official catalog. .

KAYA - Marley's own dreadlocks were still just growing in then, but this is nonetheless fully matured, riveting reggae at its most focused, righteous, and rhythmically irresistible. Kaya was the Wailers' final studio LP before 1979's Survival, arguably the album on which Bob Marley and his band reached pure pop-rock bliss (with a reggae base, natch!) via melodic tunes like "Africa Unite" and "Ride, Natty, Ride." Released in 1978, Kaya saw Marley moving more in that direction, musically, with pop melodies developing and even lead guitar piling on top of the syncopated reggae backbeats. Kaya concentrates mostly on "lighter" subjects--namely matters of the heart or just feeling good (read: screw art, let's dance)--as titles like the joyful "Easy Skanking," the beautiful "Is This Love," "Satisfy My Soul," and "Misty Morning" surely illustrate

RASTA REVOLUTION - While Rasta Revolution contains the duplicate cuts "400 Years" and "Duppy Conqueror" from African Herbsman and is from roughly the same early-'70s period, there is a distinctly mellow feel to the record. Souful and subdued bass-led roots tracks are the foundation here, as exemplified by the pulsing "Try Me" and the playful yet stinging "Rebel's Hop." Produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry, Rasta Revolution contains some tracks that rank among the best music Bob Marley & the Wailers were to produce. Most notable is the stirring "Soul Rebel," which features a beautiful blending of Marley's plaintive singing accompanied by the Wailers' tight backing harmonies. Also excellent are "Reaction," the very danceable "It's Alright," and of course, the almost psychedelic "Mr. Brown." While not quite as consistent as African Herbsman and Catch a Fire, Rasta Revolution captures Bob Marley & the Wailers at their peak. - All Music Guide

NATTY DREAD captures Bob Marley's decisive transition from Wailers band member to auteur. His singing and writing are now front and center, and the revamped band is securely reined in to his defiant, Rastafarian worldview. This 1974 release mirrors the lineup's more sinewy sound, carved by Al Anderson's spidery guitar fills, Touter's telegraphic keyboard, the I-Threes' female vocal choruses and vamping horns, a potent brew that bubbles under his then most openly political songs on the daunting ghetto realities of Jamaica's Trenchtown, the album reels off a series of enduring Marley classics and kicks off with the giddy, sexy reggae anthem, Lively Up Yourself, with its hilarious but mysterious spoken fadeout (What you got in dat bag, dere?).
It continues with the uplifting pep talk in No Woman No Cry, the grim dispatches of Them Belly Full (But We Hungry) and Rebel Music (3 O'Clock Roadblock), as well as the title song and Revolution. Marley's own dreadlocks were still just growing in then, but this is nonetheless fully matured, riveting reggae at its most focused, righteous, and rhythmically irresistable.

"Bobby Vinton, Greatest Hits 0 Out of Print - Last Copy"
In 1964 the Beatles started a remarkable run at the top of the Billboard pop charts. On February 1, 1964 "I Want to Hold Your Hand" became the #1 song in the U.S. and stayed there for seven weeks, at which point it was replaced by "She Loves You" for two weeks, and then "Can't Buy Me Love" for five weeks. I bring this all up because before that epic 14 week run, the artist who had been at the top of the charts for the entire month of January 1964 was Bobby Vinton, with his third #1 hit, "There! I've Send It Again!" The previous year Vinton had spent four weeks on top with "Roses Are Red (My Love" and another three with "Blue Velvet."
Vinton had his last #1 near the end of 1963 with "Mr. Lonely," but by then the face of popular music had changed. Going into 1963 Vinton was well on his way to being the crooner for the Sixties, but then came the Beatles and the British Invasion. Despite suddenly being out of vogue, Vinton had a pretty good career throughout the decade. You might be surprised to find out that in the first decade of his career Vinton had 28 songs make it to the Billboard Top 40.

They used to call him “The Amazing Bud Powell” and he lived up to his name. His power at the piano brought him to the same level of intensity as the hornmen with whom he often played. Among the modernists of the Forties, he was considered to be on the same level with Charlie Parker. These trio selection are taken from these sources: the same Massey Hall concert of May 1953 which featured Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, and Max Roach; a summer 1953 session recorded in New York; a nightclub gig with George Duvivier and Arthur Taylor from the same period. The inclusion of bonus tracks brings the CD total time to twice that of the original release. Whether it is the exhilaration of his incredible tempos of “Jubilee” and “Cherokee” or the thick romanticism of “My Devotion” and “Polka Dots and Moonbeams,” Powell is the keyboard master who influenced an entire generation of pianists and other instrumentalists as well.

Besides the masterful music within, this 1961 recording offers two noteworthy elements to the Mingus discography: the presence of Roland Kirk blowing his usual assortment of horn-like oddities, and the presence of Mingus himself on piano (Doug Watkins replaces Mingus on bass). The loose (even for Mingus) environment brings Mingus's vibrant but tense sense of humor to the fore. As usual, his compositions borrow heavily from blues and gospel sources. His quirky, devilish piano work adds a new dimension to his music while Kirk, Booker Ervin, and Jimmy Knepper all contribute solos that are alternately pithy and passionate.
