The album contains a couple of unusual numbers as well, including Bernie Leadon's psychedelic banjo showcase "Journey of the Sorcerer" and "I Wish You Peace," which Leadon wrote with his then-girlfriend, Patti Davis.

Steeped in the country-rock sound of the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers (guitarist/banjo player Bernie Leadon had been a member of the latter) and the burgeoning So-Cal singer-songwriter movement (Jackson Browne contributes to a pair of songs on the album), The Eagles 1972 debut is full of breezy hit singles ("Take It Easy," "Peaceful Easy Feeling") and stinging rock ("Witchy Woman," "Take the Devil"). Thanks to Leadon's presence, there's a bluegrass feel to songs like "Nightingale" and "Early Bird." Mostly, though, the album offers a sampling of the L.A. scene's laid-back early-70s optimism, with just a hint of the darkness to come.

Miller forsook his love of the blues for this and its sister project Book Of Dreams. In turning to mainstream pop/rock he became a huge star and developed the knack of delivering high-quality three-minute songs that were perfect for FM radio. The album is linked by Miller's fascination with electronic sounds, sandwiched between the irresistible title track, the Bonnie and Clyde tale of 'Take The Money And Run', the irritatingly simple 'Rock 'n' Me' and the subdued 'The Window', with its quirky lyric 'ask my baby what she wants to be, she says a monkey in a tree'. His baby replies 'there's nothing greater than love', true enough. After all, it was Miller who rhymed 'northern California' with 'girls are warm yeah'.

The Eagles' seventh album Eagles Live was released in November of 1980.
The 1980 portions consists of spirited versions of Hotel California which is arguably better than its studio counterpart with Don Felder's excellent Gibson double neck guitar and Joe Walsh's Fender Telecaster work, a rocking Heartache Tonight, a soulful I Can't Tell You Why, a soul-tinged The Long Run featuring some excellent alto sax work from Phil Kenzie(whom played on Al Stewart's Year of the Cat and Time Passages albums), a laid-back unplugged Saturday Night, a stellar Life in the Fast Lane and the closing extended rocking Take it Easy which is better than its studio counterpart with some excellent guitar work from Walsh at the end.
Also included the band's take on two of Walsh's solo tracks Life's Been Good(arguably better than the original) and the then new track All Night Long which buried the sterile sounding version on the Urban Cowboy Soundtrack. Lastly, it featured the acoustic Seven Bridges Road which was a country number the band would play in rehearsal(see the 1977 Hotel California concert film for proof) and would be the band's last hit for 14 years.
The songs recorded from 1976 featured New Kid In Town and Wasted Time which were at the time the performances were recorded unreleased, an unEarthly version of Take It To The Limit with original bass player Randy Meisner hitting an A flat to F Sharp near the end and given a STANDING OVATION for it. Lastly, Doolin-Dalton Reprise II was an orchestral interlude to Desperado which was a good version.
Eagles Live upon release hit #7 on the album charts and quickly hit Platinum status. Millions have been sold since then. Recommended for real EAGLES FANS.

Another Eagles record loaded with hits. The album begins with the Top 10 charting title cut, with dual slide playing from Joe Walsh and Don Felder, rhythm guitar from Glenn Frey and vocals from drummer Don Henley. Next is Timothy's vocal debut, the soulful ballad "I Can't Tell You Why" which went Top 10 and is a great song. The chart-topping rocker "Heartache Tonight" kicks off the Side Two and features a great Frey vocal and stellar guitar work from Walsh. The pre-Hotel California years were arguably the best for The Eagles (though there were, thanks to Joe Walsh, some stellar future moments). Their mix of country, folk and rock had a harder, grittier edge and helped define what would become known as the Southern California sound. There was just enough of a country feel in the beautiful harmonies of "Best of My Love," to blur the edges between the genres. "Take It Easy" and "Lyin' Eyes" could easily have come out of the new Nashville school, as well. The twang that characterizes the guitar intro to "Already Gone" and the leads in "Witchy Woman" and "One of These Nights," also pays tribute to country's guitar greats. This collection houses a scant 10 singles, but not only does it illustrate the magic of the collaboration between Glen Frey and Don Henley, it shows the breadth of The Eagles impact on the many who would follow their lead.

Tutored at a young age by no less than guitar whiz Les Paul and blues legend T-Bone Walker, Steve Miller's life seemed destined to be dominated by music. Still, Miller's evolution from 1960s white-boy Chicago blues journeyman to '70s Top 40 hit machine was meteoric.
Building on the success of his mainstream breakthrough The Joker, Miller's mastery of the indelibly catchy pop song yielded not only the radio-staple title track (since successfully revived by Seal), but an almost embarrassing wealth of other deceptively simple, hook-laden songs (including the standout "Wild Mountain Honey" as well as the hit singles "Take the Money and Run" and "Rock'n Me") to make FLY LIKE AN EAGLE play more like a greatest hits album than a standard collection of songs. This is Miller at his '76 pop-perfectionist peak, and one of the decade's most enduring surprises.

Miller forsook his love of the blues for this and its sister project Book Of Dreams. In turning to mainstream pop/rock he became a huge star and developed the knack of delivering high-quality three-minute songs that were perfect for FM radio. The album is linked by Miller's fascination with electronic sounds, sandwiched between the irresistible title track, the Bonnie and Clyde tale of 'Take The Money And Run', the irritatingly simple 'Rock 'n' Me' and the subdued 'The Window', with its quirky lyric 'ask my baby what she wants to be, she says a monkey in a tree'. His baby replies 'there's nothing greater than love', true enough. After all, it was Miller who rhymed 'northern California' with 'girls are warm yeah'.

On their third album, The Eagles finally produced a No. 1 hit with "The Best of My Love," but most of On The Border is marked by tough rockers, not sweet ballads. "Already Gone" is a brusque kiss-off and "Midnight Flyer" a bluegrass kicker, while "James Dean" recalls the '50s rebel icon, and the title track reflects on paranoia and creeping Big Brotherism. The Eagles also cover a Tom Waits tune, "Ol' 55," and pay tribute to alt-country godfather Gram Parsons on "My Man." The album title is prophetic in the sense that the band that made this record was on the verge of greatness, but not quite there yet.
