TOMMY - DISC ONE THE COMPLETE LP
There might not be so much stigma for the term - rock and roll opera. 75 minutes, the running time--that of some of the most inspired work the Who, which is to say anybody, ever produced. Remember that the narrative, while coherent, is little more than an excuse for songs. There is a reason the 1975 film was a musical from start to finish--the story would have sunk otherwise. But what songs! 1921 enchants, while Christmas seamlessly blends joy, sarcasm and wonder. The highlight of the album comes late in the story with Go to the Mirror and Roger Daltrey's effervescent delight, Sally Simpson. Best of all, the pacing is perfect.
The overture contains elements of its climax and the finale, and the weakest material (Cousin Kevin) hides in the middle. What makes Tommy most impressive is that it was not dreamed up by conceited artists accustomed to hearing how great they were from music intelligentsia. Rather it was the work of 4 upstarts in their early and mid-20's who were most famous at that point for angst-ridden songs. The angry My Generation, the frustrated Can't Explain, the sly Pictures of Lily and the resigned Kids are Alright all keep appealing to teenagers even as the Who have grown to grandfather age. Just before Tommy, the Who's assaults on stage equipment and hotel rooms were stuff of legend. Starting with Tommy and continuing through Who Are You the delinquents found creative outlets for the rage, the fear and the angst.

"The Who, Who's Next - Limited Deluxe Edition - 3 LP Set"
THE WHO - Who’s Next Limited Deluxe Edition 3 LP SET - 150 Gram Vinyl
This is the 1990's original Collection pressing.
This album was originally released in August of 1971 and became The Whos most acclaimed work (recently voted the Thirteenth Best Album of All-Time and The Whos only #1 Album ever).
Springing out of Pete Townsend’s never fulfilled realized “Lifehouse Project” which is cover in the two bonus LP's, it revolutionized popular music by introducing the use of pre-programmed synthesizers and sequencing. Variously informed by apocalyptic visions, sci-fi notions of interconnectivity that neatly presaged the internet and, of course, an unwavering conviction that rock & roll would save the world, the core tracks of the sprawling Lifehouse were recorded, cut, re-recorded and finally boiled down into a collection that seems to represent as much alienation ("Behind Blue Eyes") and overweening cynicism ("Won't Get Fooled Again") as it does liberation and unity. Aside from Townshend's own self-released, multi-disc meditation on the project, this expanded new edition is the most rewarding attempt to place Lifehouse and the over-exposed classic it spawned in their proper context. Six tracks from the album's original, but abandoned New York sessions flesh out the familiar material, with previously unreleased outtakes of "Getting in Tune" and a revealing, early arrangement of "Won't Get Fooled Again" warranting special note. The second disc documents one of Lifehouse's most quixotic elements with the first-time release of one of the series of concerts staged at London's Young Vic theater during the project's gestation, events during which band and audience would somehow mystically become One. Core tracks from the project are interspersed with typical hard-rocking Who fare of the time, resulting in a show whose focus and dynamics belied something very different from the arena-rock clichés that would eventually overwhelm them.
But it still produced The Who’s Next LP that features some of The Whos all-time biggest tracks including the Seventeenth Best Single of All-Time - Won’t Get Fooled Again - Baba O’Riley, Behind Blue Eyes and more.
Who’s Next set a rock standard that even its creators struggled to emulate. This LP was principally recorded at Olympic Studios in England and had additional personnel of Leslie West, guitar - Nicky Hopkins, piano - Al Kooper, organ.

"The Who, Who's Next - MFSL Gold CD"
THE WHO MFSL 24 KARAT GOLD CD - FACTORY SEALED & IN COLLECTORS CONDITION WITH NO STORES STICKERS EVER ATTACHED.
While both THE WHO SELL OUT and TOMMY have their passionate devotees, WHO'S NEXT is the Who's masterpiece. Originally, Pete Townshend intended these songs for an even larger-scale project than TOMMY, a massive multimedia extravaganza called LIFEHOUSE that the songwriter eventually abandoned. Townshend was initially keen to keep at least the basic structure of the story for the Who's next record, but associate producer Glyn Johns convinced him that a straightforward single disc of the project's best songs would make a stronger album. Wise counsel indeed, because WHO'S NEXT is by far the group's most focused and powerful effort.
Bracketed by "Baba O'Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again," two classic rock epics that did more to advance the cause of synthesizers in mainstream rock than Kraftwerk's entire career, this album is basically flawless, ranging in mood from the heartbreaking "The Song Is Over" to John Entwistle's bitterly funny "My Wife." Although nearly every song on the record, barring only the bluesy acoustic interlude "Love Ain't for Keeping," is a saturation-level FM-rock-radio mainstay, WHO'S NEXT is that rarity--an intimately familiar album that never gets tiresome.

"Donovan, Hurdy Gurdy Man"
DONOVAN - THE HURDY GURDY MAN - LAST COPY FOREVER FROM THE ORIGINAL LABEL. THIS WAS THE LAST OUT OF PRINT RE-ISSUE FROM EPIC RECORDS BN26420 EDITION. OUT OF PRINT AND TREMENDOUSLY RARE PRESSING NOW FROM THE ORIGINAL LABEL.
Donovan is an artist of great individuality. His work is superbly imaginative, and I rank him among my favorite artists of all time--any genre. While "progressive" is a word often flippantly tossed about today--describing seemingly anything but the ultra-mundane--Donovan's music has always seemed truly progressive and original to me. He understood the tasteful use of color, and its effect, in both his music and his lyrics. His albums from '66 through '68 are monuments of the psychedelic era--mystical, enchanting...irresistible. There are two that stand out in my mind as being absolutely essential, masterpieces in every respect and worthy of being heralded along with the greatest albums rock has ever produced: SUNSHINE SUPERMAN and this glorious one. (I hope that got your attention.)
We begin with the title cut--hushed at first, but when that lead guitar strikes and bends, the drums kick in, and (look out!) Donovan gets heavy. It was a big hit in '68. Then the mystical melody of "Peregrine" floats about the clippety-clop of hand percussion, while a harmonium hums along, carefree, almost oblivious to the fact that the vocal line is doing the same. At once it is as earthy and as ethereal as you could ever ask for. "The Entertaining Of A Shy Girl" offers a calming effect that dazzles, much the way sunlight would, partially blocked by leaves, creating a pleasing sparkle that dances on our senses. "As I Recall It" is a jazzy little ditty that gets us bopping and dancing to this lighthearted tune, while Donovan ironically sings sad lyrics of a disappointing affair. The mysticism returns with "Get Thy Bearings," a moody, but strongly rhythmic tune with an evocatively bluesy sax line. "Hi It's Been A Long Time" is a delicate and flowery gem decked out with ornate (but not overly done) orchestration.
Next comes the tropic delight of "West Indian Lady." Conga and guiro lay down an infectious beat, while the flute adds a certain ecstasy. Who can resist this? The subtle use of strings and woodwinds is divine in "Jennifer Juniper," one of the most delightful little ditties ever. Dreamy, blissful...Donovan falls in love. The understated percussion is ever so charming. "The River Song" is yet another meditative wonder. The acoustic guitar and the distant bongo hypnotize as Donovan's vocals carry us away. The effect of "Tangier" is like riding on a train, looking out at the despair as we pass by. The rattling percussion keeps the train moving right along. The indigenous guitar work assists in the pictures we are seeing, while the slightly off-tempo vocals speak as if they are our thoughts. "A Sunny Day" cheers us up, but ever so lazily. The song is punctuated by a brief business that picks us up for an instant, only to return to the skip-along laziness. "The Sun Is A Very Magic Fellow" is as tuneful a song as any I know. This magical, sunny wonder will stick with you long after it ends. A song that smiles this much almost makes us feel guilty for feeling carefree in a world with so many major problems; but then maybe that's how songs like this best serve us. We conclude with "Teas," another dreamy song of uncommon character. It's amazing what this guy can create with such spare accompaniment. The horns at the end brilliantly close this thoroughly entrancing album.
Strongest recommendations, folks. This isn't music, it's magic.

Full title: A White Sport Coat And A Pink Crustacean.

Recorded at Glaser Sound, Nashville, Tennessee. Includes liner notes by Tom McGuane.
Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24 karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box.
Jimmy Buffett's major label debut (the title takes off from a sappy piece of late '50s teen pop by country singer Marty Robbins) is a bit more folky and laid back than you might expect. There are hints of the rowdier Buffett persona to come, but by and large this is early '70s mellow singer-songwriter stuff, albeit with cleverer than usual lyrics.
Highlights include "Death of an Unpopular Poet," a delicately arranged story song about a poet whose posthumous success leads, literally, to the dogs; "They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More," a nostalgic remembrance of '40s big-fruit wearer Carmen Miranda; and "My Lovely Lady," an enthusiastic paean to a woman who "can eat her own weight in crabmeat." There's also the immortal "Why Don't We Get Drunk," a song whose next line--"and screw"--raised eyebrows in 1973, although post-Eminem it's less likely to do so.

Miles Davis’ impact on jazz is almost incalculable. From his early days as a sideman for Charlie Parker, through his groundbreaking "Birth Of The Cool" sessions, to his stunning small groups of the ‘50s and ‘60s, through to his electric renaissance, the trumpeter, bandleader, and composer has left a deep mark on all who came after. He is one of jazz’s true giants. "Sketches Of Spain", though one of Davis’ most commercially successful sessions, is also one of his most controversial.

“Classic Quiex SV - Super Vinyl" is a new vinyl formulation noticeably superior to all previous vinyl formulas used. The music on records made using Classic Quiex SV is more detailed, has richer harmonics and a more precise soundstage presentation Quiex SV is used exclusively and will have a sticker that identifies them as such....
This Heavy Vinyl LP has been critically acclaimed as the finest and quietest ever produced. It is a new listening experience that will virtually make you feel as if you were in the studio with the band. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and ears. So, sit back, relax, enjoy the music, and remember the sound
Townshend originally planned this as a concept album of sorts that would simultaneously mock and pay tribute to pirate radio stations, complete with fake jingles and commercials linking the tracks. For reasons that remain somewhat ill-defined, the concept wasn't quite driven to completion, breaking down around the middle of side two (on the original vinyl configuration). Nonetheless, on strictly musical merits, it's a terrific set of songs that ultimately stands as one of the group's greatest achievements." – All Music Guide

"Miles Davis Plays Al Cohn Compositions"
10" Vinyl
Since the 'records heard 'round the world,' GODCHILD, JERU, MOVE, et al, Miles Davis has made many other fine records to enhance his position as top modern trumpeter, but in the main they have been three horn groups (including himself) with an emphasis on solo work.
After the original melody, usually stated in tight unison, each hornman played again only when his solo turn came. The soloists had to be good to sustain interest, and they were, but it was felt that Miles needed a change of pace for his next recording date; compositions and arrangements which would suit him and result in a happy combination of arranged music and solo work. The man who achieved this was Al Cohn, the unheralded great of the tenor saxophone, as well as the composer's and arranger's desk." - from the original liner notes by Ira Gitler

Japanese OBI MINI REPLICA BOX SET
WHAT IS A JAPAN "MINI-LP-SLEEVE" CD?
Have you ever lamented the loss of one of the 20th Century's great art forms, the 12" vinyl LP jacket? Then "mini-LP-sleeve" CD's may be for you.
Mini-sleeve CDs are manufactured in Japan under license. The disc is packaged inside a 135MM X 135MM cardboard precision-miniature replica of the original classic vinyl-LP album. Also, anything contained in the original LP, such as gatefolds, booklets, lyric sheets, posters, printed LP sleeves, stickers, embosses, special LP cover paper/inks/textures and/or die cuts, are precisely replicated and included. An English-language lyric sheet is always included, even if the original LP did not have printed lyrics.
Then, there's the sonic quality: Mini-sleeves have dedicated remastering (20-Bit, 24-Bit, DSD, K2/K2HD, and/or HDCD), and can often be superior to the audio on the same title anywhere else in the world. There also may be bonus tracks unavailable elsewhere.
Each Japan mini-sleeve has an "obi" ("oh-bee"), a removable Japan-language promotional strip. The obi lists the Japan street date of that particular release, the catalog number, the mastering info, and often the original album's release date. Bonus tracks are only listed on the obi, maintaining the integrity of the original LP artwork. The obi's are collectable, and should not be discarded.
All mini-sleeve releases are tremendously limited editions mainly pressed on future orders only and once released immediately out of print. This fact along with other latter features we've mentioned make these titles rare collectibles that sell in the collectors markets for $100's of dollars apiece. Japanese digitally re-mastered Mini LP replica Limited Edition Collection with OBI sash down the front – only 2,000 Collector pieces made world-wide and are immediately Out of Print. Recorded from the finest Original Masters available. Comes with anti-static sleeves similar to Vinyl LPs, Cardboard packaging like an LP. Actual miniaturized version of the 12” LP in 4” CD version.
Archetypal prog-rockers Yes formed in London in the late 60s. They gained vast popularity in the 1970s and have managed to keep a faithful following long after the prog movement lost its force. Credit for their long-standing relevance lies with the distinctive vocals and lyrics of frontman Jon Anderson and the musicianship of the band’s many members who have come and gone over the life of the group.
Yes wore their prog credentials on their flared sleeves, with long track-times and multiple changes in chord and tempo. Their songs embraced futurism and utopia, and their live appearances involved complex light shows for the total prog experience, while their recorded works featured the intricate artwork of fantasy art favourite Roger Dean.
The band originally performed prog cover versions, with their self-titled debut album in 1969 featuring versions of tracks by The Byrds and The Beatles. They began to write their own material, taking on influences from classical to jazz. The results were a stream of gold and platinum-selling albums throughout the 70s, with Fragile and Close to the Edge considered fan favourites.
Personality clashes are a feature among groups of people in prolonged close contact, and Yes were no different. After a brief spilt in 1980, during which Rick Wakeman and Jon Anderson left the band, a new line-up released Drama. The album made the Top 5 in the UK, despite the absence of Anderson’s lead vocals. Another split followed the album, this time for longer.
The new band emerged two years later, with a new sound. Producer Trevor Horn brought a synth-rock sound to 1983’s 90125. The album gave the band their biggest chart success with “Owner of a Lonely Heart”, which topped the Rock and the Hot 100 charts in the US.
The band broke up again after 90125, and the 80s were marked by disputes between former member about rights to the name Yes, and the bands back catalogue. By the late 80s there was Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe in one corner and Yes, with Squire, White and Kaye in the other.
The boys made up and the resulting love-child, Union, though not as commercially successful as previous efforts, did provide the single “Lift Me Up”, which spent over a month at the top of the Album Rock Tracks chart. Since then members have still come and gone, though the albums have not sold as well as their commercial peak. In 2004 the group were officially resting, though as 2008 marked their 40th anniversary, a world tour was planned -- unfortunately illness forced a cancellation of the much anticipated concerts and fans will have to wait to see what they do next.
Special VERY RARE LIMITED EDITION BOX SET ONLY PRODUCED ON FUTURES FOR THIS ONE TIME PRESSING -- were only available in Japan.

Japanese pressing of their 1985 live mini-album featuring the line-up of Tony Kaye, Trevor Rabin, Jon Anderson, Alan White and Chris Squire. Seven tracks, including concert renditions of 'Hold On', 'Changes' and their interpretation of 'Amazing Grace'. Three of the tracks were recorded in Dortmund, Germany in 1984; the rest were recorded at Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton, Canada in 1984.
YESSHOWS - 2 CD SET ADDITIONAL BONUS TRACKS ON THIS SHMCD - This is Yes' second live album, and focuses on songs from the three studio albums preceding it. All the tracks here are played beautifully and powerfully; the versions of "Time and a Word", "Gates of Delerium", and "Ritual" are especially brilliant. What I like about Yes in a live context is how they can make a subtle change in a song (like the organ solo on "Parallels" being given to the synthesizer instead) and that change gives the song a completely new flavor. The same effect is achieved in "Ritual" when they move the bass into a more prominent role for the solo.
I'd like to comment on that bass solo - I think it's the best live bass solo I've heard. The way Squire plays at an unusual range (most of this solo is played in the same range as a guitar's low E string) has always fascinated me. Another thing about this solo is how the rest of the band just lets go and lets Squire take over - in particular listen to Moraz: he's just tinkling along, playing the same triplet pattern.
Listen closely to "Gates" and you'll hear some apalling mistakes made by Howe - in the beginning of the song he enters too slowly, throwing everyone off track for a moment, and at 13:45 he starts his solo in the wrong octave, and has to add half a measure and cram some notes together to get back on track. But in spite of these errors, the group remains solid, and ends up playing "Gates" better than they did in the studio. Anderson's voice on this track is at its harshest, and in perfect form (as usual). - Disc: 1

DRAMA The "Drama" album will always be somewhat of an oddity in the Yes catalogue, for no other reason that it is the only album in Yes' 35 years that does not feature leadsinger Jon Anderson. If, however, you can get beyond this, you will discover that "Drama", much like its predecessor "Tormato" is actually a lot better than belies its reputation.
The "Expanded and Remastered" version of Drama (16 tracks; 79 min.) starts of with the original 6 tracks of the album. Among the best tracks: "Machine Massiah" is a return to the 10 min. epic tracks of earlier in their career, albeit with the guitars much more upfront. "Into the Lens" is an 8. min. romper (and later was redone as "I Am a Camera" by the Buggles). "Run Through the Light", a minor hit, is a super-catchy power-ballad.
The bonus tracks go from the unnecessary (single versions of "Into the Lens" and "Run Through the Light") to the mildy interesting (instrumentals "Have We Really Got to Go Trough With This" and "Song No.4 (Satellite)", to the fascinating last 4 tracks. Those tracks are from the Roy Thomas Baker (famed for producing Queen era-"Bohemian Rhapsody") sessions with Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman from the Fall of 1979 that eventually were abandoned. It gives a nice insight to what might have been the "logical" successor to "Tormato", but assuming that these tracks in fact were the best from those sessions, it's easy to see why the band didn't pursue them. "Golden Age" is the standout song of the four.
In all, I cannot give enough compliments to Rhino, which has done an absolute outstanding job not only with the "Drama" reissue, but with the reissue of the Yes catalogue in general. Lines notes, remastering, bonus tracks, it's all here. Even if "Drama" isn't on your top wish list of Yes albums, you'll nevertheless enjoy this particular reissue.- 1. Machine Messiah

TORMATO - Yes singer Jon Anderson has a voice so high it makes Minnie Mouse seem the epitome of machismo and the band's fascination with pompous and dull intergalactic fantasy make it a prime target for Saturday Night Live parody. But there's no arguing with the players' proficiency. Bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Rick Wakeman, and drummer Alan White are all tops in their game. Tormato is far from the best Yes album, but the indisputable power of "Release, Release" where the band goofingly state "Rock is the medium of our generation" is worth the price of admission alone. Besides, just figuring out what exactly they mean with song titles such as "Arriving UFO" and "Don't Kill the Whale" is probably almost as cool as staring at the Hipgnosis designed cover. A period piece without question

GOING FOR THE ONE - THIS PRESSING HAS 12 TRACKS ALOT OF BONUS MATERIAL - Yes released this magnificent, often overlooked gem in 1977: a time when art rock was being scoffed at as pretentious and overblown. Punk had surged forth, and Johnny Rotten & Co. had a field day ripping Yes, Pink Floyd, Queen and others. It would appear during that time (at least during the making of this album), the members of Yes didn't give a darn about the trends of the day, as their usual cosmic, soaring, mystical aesthetic pervades the album in a big way (which is a good thing.)
The music on here is splendid - soaring, lush, illuminating -- an orgasm for the soul. Jon Anderson's vocals soar high, Steve Howe's guitar playing stuns as usual, and is very fluid, Chris Squire's (and Steve's) backing, majestic vocals blend magnificently with Jon's (and not to mention the man's bass playing), Rick Wakeman (who makes his return with Yes for the first time since 1973's _Tales From Topographic Oceans_) supplies his virtuosic, classically-oriented flourishes not just through synthesizers, but also a church organ, and other types of keyboards.
Alan White is possibly one of the most underacknowledged drummers out there. His drumming skills possibly go largely unnoticed due to the overpowering cosmic front brought on by the other members of the band. With this powerfully compelling, lush exterior Yes possesses, how could one possibly be fully aware of subtle nuances that are arguably beneath the surface? While many of us are being lifted higher to some heavenly place, it is all too common to miss the technical brilliance that is going on. Alan's drumming is the perfect example for this. While all of the cosmic stuff is knocking us sideways, Alan is in the background doing all sorts of creative and impressive things on the kit: his sense of time, the creative use (and placement) of the cymbals and snare hits during a certain meter, and other subtle things should not be taken lightly. This is just one of the many, many, many reasons why I think Yes are special: they possess technical brilliance, but they have something else as well -- something that's arguably even more powerful and intangible than their technical abilities.
The title track, while cosmic and grand, is quite raucous, mostly due to the steel guitar musings from Steve Howe. It can be grating at times, but it also helps to give the track a harder edge. The rhythmical quality of the vocals during the bridge (repeated once more before the ending) is quite creative and seductive. This, and more, help to lead up to the orgasmic, goosebump-inducing climax of the song, which feature choral effects from the vocal harmonies.
"Turn of The Century" is a smooth, mystical, ballad with a new age aesthetic. The lyrics on here are touching, and the soundscapes are ethereal and image-inducing as ever. Jon's vocals are outstanding as always. Sonic textures mostly brought on by Steve's musings during the middle of the track give way to the ethereal, majestic climax near the end of the song.
"Parallels" is written by Chris Squire, and is grand and soaring as ever. Rick's use of the church organ here certainly adds more of a mystical, spiritual and regal quality to the track. This track, while cosmic on the outside, is quite busy underneath it all. Check out the time changes, the multiple vocal layers, and the instrumentation that is going on all at once -- Rick's keyboard lines, Steve's guitar lines, Chris' basslines, and Alan's drumming.
"Wonderous Stories" is much like "Turn of The Century" -- a ballad with a mystical, new age aesthetic. Jon's vocals, as always, are precious and moving. Steve's guitar lines here are quite melodic, and what's impressive are how well they blend in with the rest of the instrumentation.
"Awaken" is classic. Like the rest of the album -- but more specifically, here -- it is almost impossible to put into account the effect it has on me. It's the 15-minute closer of the album, and boy, is it ever so good. Grand, lush, soaring, illuminating -- this track soars, and it shines as bright as the sun. The massive bed of sound just smothers your senses, and does not let go. Yes even got a church choir to add their voices in certain parts of the track. It is the most goosebump-inducing song on the album, and is also my favorite Yes song. There is quite a bit of stuff going on here -- the vocal harmonies are penetrating, the basslines tasteful, Steve's solos orgasmic. On a different listening session, when you're not being seduced by the powerful cosmic aura of this music -- or when you're trying your hardest not to be -- pay attention to the technical stuff going on in these songs. In this track, one of the many things I'd like to talk about is Alan's drumming: pay special attention to what Alan is doing on the drum kit, especially during the "suns high streams thru," "strong dreams reign here," and "star, song, age, less" sections of the track. It's quite nifty.
This is an excellent album from Yes. Highly recommended -- that is, if you are a Yes fan, own (and love) all of their studio albums, particularly from the 1971-1974 period, but do not own this. Don't pass it by.

RELAYER - HAS 3 BONUS TRACKS NOT LISTED
Buy it... yesterday! (today it's too late). Maybe there are 15 seconds of doubtful melody sung "a capella" near the end of the album. The rest is excellent in each note of every instrument.
This is a formal clon of Close to The Edge. Anderson, Howe and Squire are at their best ever. Allan White's job is perfect, as he'd feeling genuine part of the band surpassing the Tales test of substituing Bruford. Rick Wakeman was replaced by Patrick Moraz that reaches the best performance of his life, with a perfect domain over new synth timbres that revitalizes the band. The general sound quality of this album is also incredible.
The Gates of Dellirium is the story (both words and music) of a tribe pushed to deffensive battle, which they finally win saving their lives and consolidating their collective values. There are three moments through the piece: normal life, war and final hopeful peace.
To be Over is the calm one (remember And You & I), melting the Howe's usual effects and glide with the smooth but rich synths introduced by Moraz.
Sound Chaser recovers the nerve but under a much more free form that Siberian Kathru, and the solo electric piano of the opening and the synth in the end are real masterpieces.
At this point Yes begins his decadence, surely because of the reappearance of crude simple rock brought by punk, new wave, raggae and those trends that The Police will unify with great talent. I presume if you're reading this is because you love progressive music and not Michael Jackson or Christina Aguilera.
Exception made of Turn of the Century, Awaken, Future Times-Rejoice and Release-Release (and with some extra indulgence also Wonderous Stories, Madrigal and ABHW) the group would never get too high.

The music on records made using Classic Quiex SV is more detailed, has richer harmonics and a more precise soundstage presentation Quiex SV is used exclusively and will have a sticker that identifies them as such....
After the worldwide success of Tommy, Pete Townshend decided to take a second stab at "rock opera" and 1973's Quadrophenia was the result. Its premise is rooted in a teenage perspective in 1964-'65, and the friction between "mods and rockers" in the London and Brighton regions of the UK. The four-way split personality of the central figure "Jimmy" has been admitted by Townshend as also being based on the distinct personalities of the four band members. The legendary Glyn Johns' production is both powerful and stunning with the writing and arrangements, featuring maybe the most tasteful use of both sound effects and synthesizers in rock recording, brilliant. This LP was mastered and cut from the original ¼" analog master tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering using Classic's all-tube analog cutting system. Gatefold artwork including tipped-in 44-page booklet are given the usual Classic authenticity treatment down to the paper stock being original.

SKETCHES OF SATIE - "Sketches of Satie" is a collection of Erik Satie's compositions for piano, rearranged and performed by Steve Hackett (guitar) and his brother John (flute). The songs translate so well to flute and guitar, it's hard to believe they weren't originally composed for these instruments.
Fans of early Genesis won't be surprised by Hackett's virtuosity; the revelation here is John Hackett on flute. John's playing is so natural and fluent, it seems almost divinely inspired. On the first six tracks (Gnossiennes 3, 2 and 1 and Gymnopédies 3, 2 and 1), Steve provides subtle and steady accompaniment, allowing John's flute to handle the melodies. The next three tracks (the "Pièces Froides") highlight Steve on guitar, but John rejoins him for the rest of the album. The performances exhibit a hypnotic, haunting, and exotic beauty. Steve Hackett again demonstrates why he's one of the world's best and most versatile guitarists; by ceding the spotlight to his brother, he exhibits admirable modesty and restraint.
You don't have to be a fan of Satie or Hackett to enjoy this - just someone who enjoys gentle instrumental music that stimulates the mind while calming the soul.

METAMORPHEUS - Ever since his days as the guitarist for Genesis, Steve Hackett has been setting new standards for his instrument. Matchless versatility combined with extraordinary passion has transformed him through time into a musician's musician. In addition to his work in progressive rock, Steve Hackett has also shown remarkable dedication in the pursuit of his classical side. To date he has released 5 acoustic/classical albums, and has appeared as the featured soloist with the London Chamber Orchestra, earning the respect of both rock contemporaries and classical figures alike.
Metamorpheus, the latest project, is the natural successor to 1997’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (which spent several weeks in the UK classical charts). It combines nylon strung guitar with orchestra, seamlessly merging small and large musical forces

"Shelly Manne, Sounds Unheard Of - 180 Gram - CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK"
SHELLY MANNE - SOUNDS UNHEARD OF – 180 Gram Factory Sealed Audiophile pressed LP.
In 1962, Contemporary Records set out to create the ultimate stereophonic listening experience. Widely acclaimed for both the sonic quality of its recordings and its classic and adventuresome jazz repertoire, Lester Koenig decided to meld these two elements into an album that would test the mettle of any stereo system, while providing listeners with entertaining and unusual treatments of familiar repertoire. Shelly Manne, who was a mainstay of Contemporary's artist roster, and who was acutely aware of the subtleties of sound recording, was the obvious protagonist for such a project. Shelly's arrangements, in which he plays a vast array of exotic and seldom heard percussion instruments (and other objects) in duet with Jack Marshall's nylon string acoustic guitar, were conceived so as to demonstrate to the fullest the capabilities of Contemporary's renowned recording system. Contemporary S9006.

"Peter Green, The Best of Peter Green's - The Anthology Man Of The World 1968-1983 - 180 Gram Double LP"
The Best of Peter Green's - THE ANTHOLOGY MAN OF THE WORLD 1968-1983 - 180 Gram Limited Edition classic double LP SET high-definition Virgin Vinyl pressing for superior fidelity.
Collectors Alert: Many of these Titles will never be available again. Their license to produce these 180 Gram Masterpieces with Universal Records International has Ended. This means that this specific title is now out of print forever and there are very few remaining is sealed condition. This title is going to skyrocket in value & price over the next few months. So Don't Miss Out on being one of the last people to own this outstanding pressing. This is one the last pressing you will ever see at this price. Don't Miss Out.
Peter Green is a genius in the same way that Brian Wilson or Syd Barrett is a genius. Green's genius is so natural--such an extension of who he is--that he can no sooner separate the fact that he has genius from the fact that he has ten fingers...it's just the way it is and it's a part of him. I guess it's only we who don't have this genius that can recognize it in him...it's as if the genius that we don't have is a finger that we are missing.
Peter Green's search for himself has taken him places that few have dared to go, and he's had difficulties since he embarked on this search...alas, a one-way trip. But to hear the music that this man has created gives us a glimpse of his synesthaesic whimsies and wonders.
After departing John Mayall's Blues Breakers with mates John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, Green formed a band that would continue exploration of blues as was going on in the mid- to late-1960's in England with bands like The Yardbirds, The Animals and others. The original Fleetwood Mac could suck in the listener and hold him in the palm of their collective hand. To say that their music had a groove you could fall right into would only be telling half of the story. Do yourself a favor and look up some of their early catalog like "English Rose" or "Then Play On". In particular search for "Chicago 1969", one helluva album!
When Green left the Mac, he was sought after by many other groups, and players would assemble around him just to record. His Splinter Group, too, made some wonderful recordings. This double LP set is a collection of all of Green's early works, and is a great set of tunes to listen to!
If you've ever seen B.B. King or Eric Clapton play, you've seen how the guitar is just a natural part of their body...like the music in the guitarist's head just flows right through into and out of his amp. This is what you get from Peter Green.

MAKING MOVIES - On Making Movies, the cinematic quality of these sometimes silly but generally engaging story songs is consistently overwhelmed by its own score, a soundtrack of thundering drums, cascading piano, perpetual-motion grooves, and the clipped lead guitar lines of frontman Mark Knopfler. On "Skateaway," that sound is so engaging and catchy that it makes up for the song's slight lyric (about a girl who roller-skates in traffic), but when Knopfler provides tales that are up to the fanfare, this album is a thing of real beauty. "Romeo and Juliet" is especially strong, since it combines all the pomp with a sweet declaration of love that's downright humble

"Steely Dan, Everything Must Go"
Steely Dan "Everything Must Go" on 180 Gram Limited Edition Vinyl Masterpiece. High-definition Virgin Vinyl pressing for superior fidelity.
If you are a Collector of the top 100 best Lps or singles of all-time this pressing here is one of the rarest and most valuable pressing ever. Don't Miss Out.
Being a part of the vinyl breed who understands that no matter where CD technology has gone or will go, it will never replace the way vinyl breathes life into every track. Audiophile is all about vinyl being a mainstay of listening experience and owning pieces of musical history that will blow any listener away. It is the difference between owning a Ferrari or a Honda Civic.
So enjoy being one of the last people in the world to get your butt up and flip a side of vinyl. Itis the purest form of listening pleasure , not to mention the artistic value of owning a cover of art, -- like posters of your favorite artist. “How we do it: First we hook up a sequence of sleek & slinky musical cells over which we sprinkle the most amusing lyrics. Immediately we get on the horn and round up our swinging sidemen, including but not limited to Keith Carlock (drums), Jon Herrington (guitar), Hugh McCracken (guitar), Ted Baker (keyboards), and yrs. truly, Mssrs. Becker and Fagen, on our respective axes. Next thing you know, the wiggy vocals and stellar solo work are stacked atop the now-realized grooves and harmonies. After mixdown, the finished album reveals to its makers deep subterranean themes and powerful emotional undercurrents that satisfy and surprise at the same time.”

CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG - DÉJÀ VU – FACTORY SEALED 200 GRAM CLASSIC RECORDS. Rated the 61st best LP of all-time PLUS NEIL YOUNG
Less than a year after the release of CSN's groundbreaking debut, the group returned with Stephen Stills's (singing hit song, "Carry On",) former Buffalo Springfield cohort/rival Neil Young augmenting the threesome. The result is a less concentrated but more kinetic creation; Young swims through the celestial harmonies of rock's best trio. With classics like "Almost Cut My Hair" DÉJÀ VU is teeming with early '70s FM staples, including "Helpless," "Teach Your Children," , the hit "Woodstock" (penned by Joni Mitchell) , "Our House" and much more.

CROSBY STILLS AND NASH DEBUT LP - 200 GRAM CLASSIC RECORDS
This is CROSBY STILLS & NASH Debut Album – That was mastered from the Original Session Tapes (and Graham Nash has recently stated this was the 1st time this master session tape was ever used. The fact was this tape was never used on the original release pressings just the second and 3rd generation clones from the master) to 200 Gram Heavy Virgin Vinyl by Classic Records and is the best Audiophile pressing ever of this masterpiece.
You are diffently in the studio with the Group in this rare pressing.+
One of the major Super Groups of the late sixties, CROSBY, STILLS & NASH dominated the charts and influenced many musicians with their skillful harmonizing and folk-rock sound. This debut Album was well-received and began an association that would last in varying combinations for 25 years.
Contains the classic – SWEET JUDY BLUE EYES rated the 41st best single in Rock N Roll – MARAKESH EXPRESS – GUINNEVERE – YOU DON’T HAVE TO CRY – PRE-ROAD DOWNS – WOODEN SHIPS – LADY OF THE ISLAND – HELPLESSLY HOPING – LONG TIME GONE – 49 – BYE-BYES ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE BEST OF THE GROUP’S ALBUM OF ALL-TIME
Steven Stills/Steven Stills, - With this 1970 self-titled solo effort, Stephen Stills, like his bandmates of CSN&Y had decided to explore other musical avenues. Featuring Jimi Hendrix, who died prior to the album's release on Old Times Good Times. The London session also allowed Stills to finally team up with Eric Clapton on Go Back Home. Spawning the mega-hit Love The One You're With. The album is a masterful mix of the southern California folk pop sound that Stills helped forge, blended with the Latin, swamp and blues influences that he was ready to express. Also collaborating are John Sebastian, Rita Coolidge, David Crosby, Graham Nash and Cass Elliot. Engineered by Andy Johns and arranged in part by Arif Mandrin.

DAVID CROSBY - This title is the 200 gram CLASSIC RECORDS. David Crosby's debut solo album If I Could Only Remember My Name is a one-shot wonder of dreamy but ominous California ambience. The songs range from brief snapshots of inspiration (the angelic chorale-vocal showcase on "Orleans" and the a cappella closer, "I'd Swear There Was Somebody Here") to the full-blown, rambling Western epic "Cowboy Movie", and there are absolutely no false notes struck or missteps taken. No one before or since has gotten as much mileage out of a wordless vocal as Crosby does on "Tamalpais High (At About 3)" and "Song With No Words (Tree With No Leaves)", and because the music is so relaxed, each song turns into its own panoramic vista. Those who don't go for trippy Aquarian sentiment, however, may be slightly put off by the obscure, cosmic storytelling of the gorgeous "Laughing" or the ambiguous (but pointed) social questioning of "What Are Their Names", but in actuality it is an incredibly focused album. Even when a song as pretty as "Traction in the Rain" shimmers with its picked guitars and autoharp, the album is coated in a distinct, persistent menace that is impossible to shake. It is a shame that Crosby would continue to descend throughout the remainder of the decade and the beginning of the next into aimless drug addiction, and that he would not issue another solo album until 18 years later. As it is, If Only I Could Only Remember My Name is a shambolic masterpiece, meandering but transcendently so, full of frayed threads. Not only is it among the finest splinter albums out of the CSNY diaspora, it is one of the defining moments of hung-over spirituality from the era.

"The Move, Looking On - OBI Mini LP Replica In A CD - Japanese pressing - Limited Edition"
THE MOVE – LOOKING ON This is a Japanese re-mastered Mini OBI LP replica Limited Edition Collection – only 2,000 Collector pieces made world-wide and are immediately Out of Print.
TREMENDOUSLY RARE OUT OF PRINT MASTERPIECE AND OUR LAST COPY FOREVER. THIS PRESSING IS SELLING FOR $300 AT THE ONLY OTHER SITE THAT HAS THIS LEFT IN SEALED CONDITION.
In the wake of The Move's SHAZAM album, singer Carl Wayne departed & leader Roy Wood recorded a solo album, BOULDERS (which saw release in 1973). When he returned, he invited friend Jeff Lynne (who'd replaced him in The Nightriders / The Idle Race) to join, and the 2 hatched the idea of creating a new band to replace The Move, which would include classical instruments and experimental ideas: The Electric Light Orchestra. LOOKING ON was the first result, though their record company (at least temporarily) nixed the idea of a name-change, purely for "commercial" reasons".
This is one WILD album. As much of a major shift as SHAZAM was from earlier Move records, LOOKING ON is an even bigger departure. Both Wood & Lynne, whose earlier sound & styles were quite similar, come across doing & sounding almost completely unlike anything either of them had done before! Loud, heavy, ponderous, explosive, and downright bizarre are a few words that come to mind. This album is NOT an easy "first listen"! There's the ominous "Looking On", the growling-yet-bouncy "Turkish Tram Conductor Blues", the ethereal "What?" and the noisy "When Alice Comes Back To The Farm", with its almost honky-tonk piano. Things get extremely strange on Jeff Lynne's "Open Up Said The World To The Door"-- you have to HEAR this one, you still won't believe it! The one almost "normal" track is "Brontosaurus", a single recorded earlier, and I believe the only song here that includes departed bassist Rick Price. "Feel Too Good" makes for a relentless, hard-driving 9-minute finale. (But watch out for the "surprise" epilogue!) I've long considered this a "flawed experiment"; when they returned for their next outing, MESSAGE FROM THE COUNTRY, everything they were working toward seemed to fall in place!

Comes with sleeves similar to Vinyl LPs, Cardboard packaging like an ORIGINAL LP. Actual miniaturized version of the 12” LP in 4” CD version.
Beyond the tragedy, the history, the raging guitars and the killer songs, ultimately, Lynyrd Skynyrd is about an indomitable will. About survival of spirit; unbowed, uniquely American, stubbornly resolute.
With their first set of new studio material since 2003’s Vicious Cycle, legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd returns with God & Guns, due out September 29 on Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records. Recorded in Nashville in 2008-2009, the project was interrupted—but, tellingly, not ended—by the deaths of founding member/keyboardist Billy Powell and longtime bassist Ean Evans earlier this year.
Driven by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, Lynyrd Skynyrd have recorded an album (“under duress, as usual,” according to Van Zant) that very much lives up to the legacy begun some 35 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and halted for a decade by the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band tragically lost Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they rock on.
With the passing of Powell and Evans, “a lot of people probably expected us to say enough is enough,” admits Medlocke. But that would not be the way of this Rock & Roll Hall of Fame powerhouse. With a catalog of over 60 albums and sales beyond 30 million, Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations, and God & Guns is a fitting addition to the canon. The Skynyrd Nation awaits.
“We wanted to show the people that not only are we doing the old material, keeping the music going, but we still have some new tricks up our sleeves, too,” says founding guitarist Gary Rossington.
Returning to the studio after the death of Powell, whose keyboards can be heard on more than half the songs on God & Guns, was “very difficult, I ain’t gonna lie to you,” says Van Zant. “But we got through it, as Lynyrd Skynyrd seems to always do. Music’s a great healer. These songs needed to be out there, this record needed to be made. Gary, Rickey and myself just said ‘let’s go for it, let’s get this thing done.’”
Unfortunately, coping with loss is familiar to this band. “We just kind of fell back in,” says Rossington. “We’ve been doing this a long time, so you just kind of do what you do. As you get older, you get a little more used to it. You know it’s coming, and it’s coming to you, too. I just thank God for every day and all the time I had with the guys that aren’t with us anymore.”
The crying is over and now it’s time to rock. “We’ve had some really bad moments this year already, and I’m glad we’re able to pick ourselves up by our boot straps and just continue to play,” says Medlocke. “For us to weather through this makes this record even more special. I’m sure Billy and Ean are looking down upon us with big smiles.”
With noted rock producer Bob Marlette, input from guitarist John 5, and a wealth of material written by the band and a cadre of elite Skynyrd-minded songwriters, a remarkable album emerged. “We never really worked with producers that well, we kind of always wanted to do it our way,” admits Rossington. “But Bob Marlette came on and he’s such a great guy; he figured out how to talk to us musically, and we became friends instantly. He had a lot of fresh ideas and ways to do things, and also wanted to capture the old sounds, too.”
Of John 5, Rossington adds, “he’s probably one of the best guitar players I’ve ever played with, and I’ve played with a lot of great ones. He just lives with a guitar on him, and he knows that neck like nobody I’ve ever seen.”
With a backbone of Southern rock and country, passionate Van Zant vocals, and trademark layered guitars, God & Guns manages to maintain the iconic Skynyrd punch while sounding completely contemporary. Sure to attract attention in these politically divided times is the title track, which harbors a sense of menace and unwillingness to back down that hearkens back to Skynyrd’s earliest days. The band knows the song, and others like “That Ain’t My America,” will have their critics, but Medlocke says listeners should get beyond the title.
“It’s not just the words ‘God and guns.’ you gotta look past that and look at what this country was founded on: freedom,” Medlocke says. “Everybody should be able to make their own decisions and not be led around by a nose ring and told what to do and when to do it.”
And if some critics don’t like it, “that’s called freedom of choice,” says Medlocke, who carries his Native American heritage with pride. “I’m sure some critics will look at it, God & Guns, the rednecks are back.’ Well, the guys in this band aren’t rednecks, Rickey Medlocke’s the only damn redneck in this band ‘cause I got red skin.”
The title track, along with the unmistakable Skynyrd bite of the first single “Still Unbroken,” form thematic songs for an album laden with attitude, heart and purpose. “Skynyrd’s about tradition,” says Medlocke. “We are guys that don’t go around preaching about our own personal or political beliefs, although I’m sure you could probably guess mine. In this record is personal tragedy, personal relationships and being on the road, all under that umbrella of real life. That’s what we think, that’s what we believe, and we stand next to that title, God & Guns.”
To portray Skynyrd as a bunch of “gun nuts” would be incorrect, according to Van Zant. “I’m kind of like Ronnie, ‘handguns are made for killing,’ and I’ve never seen anybody shoot a deer with a .38,” he says. “I do own a bunch of rifles, I live out in the swamp, and you’ve got to protect yourself.”
Skynyrd is a band, after all, that has never shied away from standing up and speaking for a segment of the population whose voices are seldom heard. “Everybody’s so scared to say stuff these days, that’s not what I’m about,” says Van Zant. “We live in America, we can speak our minds. These are our values. That doesn’t mean we’re always right in everybody’s mind. Hopefully, we don’t offend a bunch of people. And if we do, well, get a record deal, man, and make your own songs.”
This is a band well aware of the responsibility that comes with putting the name ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ on anything, be it an album or a concert. “We feel like we have to keep the standards high,” says Rossington. “I wouldn’t put this record out, I’d fight not to, if I didn’t think it was good.”
And so Skynyrd stands, “still unbroken,” in 2009. “People may say, ‘they need the money,’ well I don’t think any of us need the money,” Van Zant says. “It’s just that we love the music, it’s bigger than the money, it’s not even about that any more. We have to make a living, sure, but it’s about the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and what it stands for, what the fans are all about. There’s nothing like getting out there playing a great show with Skynyrd and seeing people love this music.”
Adds Rossington, “We’re still standing, still keeping the music going.
"Pronounced" is a great album. "Street Survivors" and "Gimme Back My Bullets" (which is SO underrated!) are great, too, and "Nuthin' Fancy" is a gem, but the greatest studio album ever put out by Skynyrd has to be "Second Helping." Buy them all (and also "One More From The Road [Deluxe Edition]" and, if you want to hear what the new version of the band sounds like, "Edge Of Forever"), but put this album at the top of the list.

"Sly & The Family Stone, Greatest Hits - 180 Gram"
SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE - GREATEST HITS - 180 Gram OUT OF PRINT RARE Limited Edition classic LP with the expensive Gate-Fold Cover is a high-definition Virgin Heavy Vinyl pressing for superior fidelity . The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and your ears.
LAST COPY FOREVER
Collectors Note: This limited edition heavy vinyl pressing is now out of print & gone from the last distributor that had any of these pressing left within their inventory. This means that this specific title is "Here Today but For Sure Gone Tomorrow Forever". So Don't Miss Out on BEING ONE OF THE LAST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TO add this masterpiece to your collection.
Sly and the Family Stone, led by the enigmatic Sylvester Stewart (aka Sly Stone), were a pioneering funk band in the 60s and 70s who merged rock with funk, had a sexually and racially integrated line-up, and who famously moved from optimistic party anthems and hippy idealism to drug-induced frustration and paranoia.
Sly and the Family Stone were formed in 1966 when Sly Stone merged his struggling band with the struggling band of his brother Freddie, and added bassist Larry Graham. A debut album received good reviews but didn't sell well, so they were reluctantly persuaded to record an overtly commercial single to boost their reputation. Sly came up with the goods in January 1968 with the raucous party anthem "Dance to the Music", which got to No.8 in the pop charts and influenced the sound of soul music for the next several years. There are a few interesting innovations in just this one song: it is performed by a racially integrated group and with instrumental participation by women, it included rock guitar parts in a funk song, and there are four lead singers who take turns to sing.
This was followed in 1969 by their first classic album, Stand!, which included hit singles "Everyday People/Sing a Simple Song" and "I Want to Take You Higher". It eventually sold over three million copies and was followed by a famous Woodstock appearance, and another hit single: "Hot Fun in the Summertime". But internal differences were arising and illicit drug use was increasing at this time, so in the following two years only one single was released. "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" (December 69) is important for two reasons: it prominently featured Larry Graham's new slap-bass method that would become a standard in funk; and it signified the beginning of Sly and the Family Stone's darker period, as they expressed their frustration that the hippy ideals they once offered, of peace and love for all mankind, weren't working.
For much of 70/71, Sly Stone sank deeper into a drug habit and retreated from recording duties. A comeback single, "Family Affair", reached No.1 in late 1971, before the November release of their most acclaimed work: There's a Riot Goin' On. An album of melancholy and frustration, it announced the passing of 60s idealism and the new reality of widespread socio-economic problems. Despite the dark themes, it reached No.1 and is regarded as one of the greatest albums of the decade.
Subsequent albums, such as Fresh (1973) and Small Talk (1974), Fresh is now considered as an important album in the development of funk, while their work overall is regarded as highly influential for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Michael Jackson. Eventually the band fizzled out as members became increasingly frustrated with Sly's erratic and unreliable behaviour, and bookings for live shows dried up. Officially splitting in 1975, some of the key members have since reformed and were touring Europe with Sly in 2007.
As a title would lead you to believe, these are the GREATEST HITS from a group that had a fair share of hits from the late sixties, early seventies from one of Rock N Rolls Top 50 Rated Rock n Roll acts of All-Time. Too Pop savvy to be merely a Funk Band and too darn Funky to be just a Rock Band, Sly and his multi-cultural crew (Family Stone) made intelligent party music that crossed boundaries and became AM/Radio staples.
Included in this collection are smash hits like - Dance To The Music - Sing A Simple Song - M’Lady - Thank You - I Want To Take You Higher - Everybody Is A Star - Stand - You Can Make It If You Try - Everyday People and - Hot Fun In The Summertime. What more can you ask, just get down and P-A-R-T-Y to this Audiophile Masterpiece of Vinyl.
