Album notes
The Rolling Stones: Keith Richards (vocals, guitar); Mick Jagger (vocals); Brian Jones (guitar); Bill Wyman (bass); Charlie Watts (drums).
Recorded in 1966.
Once known as hard-core blues/R&B traditionalists, the Stones plunged deeper into the waters of original songwriting on BETWEEN THE BUTTONS, leading to a golden age of classic albums including LET IT BLEED, BEGGAR'S BANQUET and EXILE ON MAIN STREET. BUTTONS was also the last album produced by then-manager/svengali Andrew Loog Oldham. More importantly, the obscure songs on this tight package show the Stones coming into their own as composers.
Between the melodic balladry of "Back Street Girl" and Mick Jagger's Dylanesque inflections on "She Smiled Sweetly," BUTTONS found the Stones in a strata far beyond covering Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. Although none of these developments ranks with the Beatles' contemporaneous sonic experiments, the Fabs' bad-boy counterparts showed differing degrees of whimsy and sass, i.e. Ian Stewart's barrelhouse piano and Brian Jones' kazoo playing on "Cool, Calm & Collected" or the Dixieland-flavored "Something Happened To Me Yesterday."

When you're anthologizing the Rolling Stones, one of the first things you must accept is that you're doomed to failure. No one album can possibly tell the story of the band that's explored so many different musical avenues and recorded so many memorable songs. Still, the double-disc best of HOT ROCKS, and this, its sequel, come perilously close. This set wisely doesn't attempt to be comprehensive. Instead, it just picks out various gems from different points in the band's development.
Their R&B/roots period is well-represented by covers of "It's All Over Now" and "Not Fade Away." "She's A Rainbow" and "2000 Light Years From Home" are monuments to the band's psychedelic phase. "No Expectations" and "Let It Bleed" are bluesy tunes that cut to the quick, emphasizing the Stones' gift for visceral compositions and the sound that defined what was--arguably--their greatest period (the late '60s). Though HOT ROCKS is the place to turn for a comprehensive cross section of the band's biggest and most essential hits, MORE HOT ROCKS is an excellent companion piece, bringing together some of the Stones' lesser known but equally satisfying work.

"Jimi Hendrix, Studio Out-Takes, #89 - Volume 3 1969-1970 - 180 Gram"
JIMI HENDRIX - STUDIO OUT-TAKES…VOLUME 3 1969 - 1970
A Numbered Limited Edition #89 - 180 Gram LP - 3,000 Pressings
This Heavy Vinyl LP is a listening experience that will virtually make you feel as if you were in the studio with the band. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and ears.
This, the third of the 3-volume series of rare Jimi Hendrix studio out-takes, finds the guitarist back in America and recording at Electric Ladyland and The Record Plant. We are again invited to follow Hendrix as he endeavors to fashion loose musical ideas into developed songs or frameworks for his electrifying live jams. These tracks very much reflect the artist at work in the studio, and is yet another illuminating glimpse into the creative process of probably the greatest guitarist of our time.
Side 1:
1. Valleys of Neptune - recorded at the same session as Freedom, this instrumental starts out as if it’s destined to become a great track until Hendrix playing blithely away admits half way through that he hadn’t thought up an ending yet.
2. Freedom - This alternate version featuring a different set of lyrics, is one of 19 takes recorded with Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell at The Record Plant in 1970.
3. Bleeding Heart - Originally recorded in March 1970 at The Record Plant with an un-named drummer and no bass player. The over-dubs, with Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Juma Sultan were added later. This is an alternate mix of an unused take. This sound on this track is particularly good.
4. Midnight Lightning Jam - From the July 14, 1970 Electric Ladyland sessions with Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell and Juma Sultan. This is very much a work in progress which becomes more than apparent as the track unravels after a few minutes which is most unfortunate as what we do get to hear sounds terrific.
5. Drifters Escape - A basic track recorded at Electric Ladyland on June 17, 1970 with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox. This version, which sounds absolutely superb, has three lead guitar parts.
6. Send My Love To Linda - Another track recorded during many sessions at The Record Plant, this one having taken place on January 16, 1970. This is the second take of a new song that unfortunately was never completed.
Side 2:
1. Astro Man - Instrumental backing track (take 7) recorded in June 1970 at Electric Ladyland with Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Juma Sultan. Different versions appear on First Rays Of The New Rising Sun and in the Experience Hendrix Box Set.
2. Lover Man - A track from May 1970 recorded at The Record Plant. Previously unreleased until two alternate versions (one recorded at Olympic and a later one at Electric Ladyland) were included in the Experience Hendrix Box Set.
3. Earth Blues - Recorded at The Record Plant in December 1969 with Juma Sultan, The Band of Gypsies and The Ronnettes, this alternate mix is one of 16 takes and features totally different guitar parts.
4. Room Full of Mirrors - Recorded with The Band of Gypsies and with the Ghetto Fighters (Hendrix’s long-time friends Arthur and Albert Allen) on backing vocals on November 17, 1969 at The Record Plant. This version is an alternate unused mix with extra guitar parts. Hendrix was constantly searching for a unique sound and this, coupled with the fact that he disliked the sound of his own voice, meant that many versions were rejected, much to the amazement and frustration of engineers Tony Bongiovi and Tommy Erdelyi.

"The Rolling Stones, Stripped (Double LP) - UK Release - Euro Sealed - CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK"
THE ROLLING STONES - STRIPPED – UK RELEASE Out of Print DOUBLE LP Masterpiece
I read that Charlie called this an overlooked live Stones album that he considered their best. After listening to this, I agree. Stunning song selection, filled with gems and treasures. A must for the diehard Rolling Stones fan!

.....May 26/27 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam (Keith said this was the best show the band ever did)
.....July 3 at the Olympia in Paris
.....July 19 at the Brixton Academy in London (probably their most famous club show)

"Johnny Winter, Still Alive and Well"
Johnny Winter's "comeback" album from 1973. Johnny is one of the most underrated guitar players that ever picked up a 6-string. While deeply rooted in the blues, Johnny delivers some rippin' stripped-down rock and roll on this album. Production is held to a very minimum of overdubs, and it's basically Johnny with his bass player and drummer. No effects, no slick production tricks, just good old rock and roll. He's one of those rare guys that can just plug the guitar into and amp and rip it up. In addition to his masterful playing, Johnny serves up some of his patented gritty, soulful vocals.
Tracks include: 1. Rock Me Baby - Can't You Feel It - Cheap Tequila - All Tore Down - Rock & Roll - Silver Train - Ain't Nothing To Me -. Still Alive & Well -. Too Much Seconal - Let It Bleed

Album notes
FLOWERS is a compilation of UK tracks and singles put together by Decca Records (UK) in 1967, including tracks that appeared on the English versions of AFTERMATH and BETWEEN THE BUTTONS.
The Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger (vocals); Brian Jones, Keith Richards (guitar, background vocals); Bill Wyman (bass); Charlie Watts (drums).
Audio Remasterers: Steve Rosenthal; Teri Landi.
This album represents a turning point for the Stones. Though they had not yet fully integrated the baroque aspirations of pop into their music, the flower-power influence had nonetheless begun to take root. While all the earlier elements of their sound are still firmly in place, in the folky "Backstreet Girl" and the relentlessly rocking "Let's Spend The Night Together," new sounds also crop up. Cuts like the woodwind-sweetened ballad "Ruby Tuesday" and the Middle Eastern-tinged "Mother's Little Helper" set the stage for the full-blown head-trip that would unveil itself later that year on THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST.
THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST - JAPAN LONDON RECORDS LAX1011 INMINT MINUS CONDITION - No Stones album split critical opinion as much as their stab at psychedelia. Uncut magazine concluded that although the record has long been derided as the Stones’ misguided attempt to outdo the Beatles, it is, in fact, “a neglected psychedelic masterpiece” and “superior to Sgt. Pepper as a document of that first British summer of love.” It featured their most innovative arrangements, which incorporated African rhythms and full orchestration.

AFTEMATH U.K. TRACKS JAPAN LONDON RECORDS LAX 1006 IN NEAR MINT CONDITION - 1966 was a momentous year for albums. Aftermath was right up there with Pet Sounds, Revolver and Blonde On Blonde. The album represented a milestone for the Stones as it was the first to consist solely of Jagger/Richards original songs. It also featured the immaculate guitar work of Brian Jones and the remarkably-wry, observant “Mother’s Little Helper,” with extremely blatant and, for the time, controversial drug references.

Producers: Andrew Oldham, Eric Easton, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Miller, Jack Nitzsche.
Engineers include: Roger Savage, Ron Malo, Dave Hassinger.
THE SINGLES COLLECTION: THE LONDON YEARS comes as advertised--the box includes every American and British A-side and B-side the Rolling Stones released between 1963 and 1971 (after which the band began releasing discs under the Rolling Stones Records imprint). The fantastic speed and scope of the Stones' early artistic development have few parallels in popular music, and this collection not only details that incredible process, but serves as a microcosm of '60s pop culture as well.
From the down-and-dirty Chicago-style blues and R&B of the group's early covers (Chuck Berry's "Come On," Willie Dixon's "I Just Wanna Make Love to You") to the dreamy chamber pop of "Lady Jane" and the proto-hard rock of "Street Fightin' Man," the band was always on the cutting edge, both reacting to and anticipating cultural and musical trends. One listen to this box, however, reveals that, unlike the Beatles, the Stones seldom veered far from their roots, always injecting a vital dose of raw sexuality and pure rock & roll spirit into even the boldest of experiments.
This box set is a compilation of all the Rolling Stones' singles from 1963 to 1971, including A-sides, B-sides and alternate B-sides from the U.S. and the U.K. These 58 songs on 3 discs have been digitally remastered with most tracks in mono to reflect the sound of the original 45s. It includes a 78-page, 12" x 12" book with lyrics, detailed track annotations by Bruce Eder and essays by Anthony De Curtis and Andrew Oldham.

Album notes
The Rolling Stones: Keith Richards (vocals, guitar); Mick Jagger (vocals); Mick Taylor, Brian Jones (guitar); Bill Wyman (bass guitar); Charlie Watts (drums).
Additional personnel: Madeline Bell, Merry Clayton (vocals); Ry Cooder (slide guitar, mandolin); Byron Berline (violin, fiddle); Bobby Keys (tenor saxophone); Al Kooper (French horn, piano, organ, keyboards); Nicky Hopkins (piano, organ, keyboards); Ian Stewart (piano, keyboards); Leon Russell (piano); London Bach Choir.
The last Stones studio album of the '60s finds the band, for perhaps the first time, accurately reflecting the spirit of its age. The erstwhile bad boy outsiders of rock now found themselves firmly in the center of the social and political post-'68 whirlwind, and faced up to the challenge magnificently. The band's confident climb to its artistic peak was begun by BEGGAR'S BANQUET, but LET IT BLEED is a quantum leap even from that musical milestone.
The album's opener, "Gimme Shelter," with its insinuating guitar introduction, leads us decisively out of Flower Power and into a world where rape and murder are "just a shot away," and the Devil of BANQUET is very much alive and taking names. There's a nod to seminal influence Robert Johnson, whose "Love in Vain" is a mandolin-accompanied highlight. The climax arrives in the form of "You Can't Always Get What You Want," bearing references to the fallout of the Swinging London era. LET IT BLEED finds the Stones brimming with musical confidence and artistic inspiration.
