Probably the most critically revered band of the 70s, Steely Dan's brand of slick pop with a dose of jazz/funk left a meagre but vital catalogue to cling on to. This was their last gasp at the onset of the 80s. Perhaps they were aware of the fact that they were too 70s for the 80s. This was their least accessible and most mature album (no criticism is intended), as the content washes over the listener like a warm shower. 'Hey Nineteen' is the hit single from this set, a radio-friendly nostalgic look at 1967, impeccable in production and with evocative lyrics. Lots of echoey Fender Rhodes and sensitive brass.

"The Searchers, It's The Searchers & Take Me For What I'm Worth (2 LPs in 1 CD)- MFSL Factory Sealed Gold CD"
MFSL 24K GOLD CD - THE SEARCHERS 2-CD SET- MFSL 24-KARAT GOLD LIMITED EDITION LONG OUT OF PRINT SEALED CD.
The four LP's included on 2 CDs are "It's The Searchers", "Take Me For What It's Worth", "Meet The Searchers", and "Sound Like The Searchers".
All four were originally released in the mid 60's on PYE Records and are MFSL Exclusives pressed directly from the original session master tapes to 24 Karat Gold CD's.
The Searchers is a heavenly trip down memory lane, a reference work on the origins of Mercy Beat (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, etc. that famous liverpool sound that took America by storm) which started the British Invasion and a glimpse into the influence of The Searchers on Power Pop. In the early sixties, having experienced the British Invasion music first hand, I have always been partial to The Searchers music. If you are not familiar with The Searchers but a fan of British Invasion music, you will find this Collection to be the golden nugget you’ve been missing.
The origins of The Searchers sound are loud and clear from glorious Everly Brothers vocal harmonies, Buddy Holly’s Rock a Billy, with a Motown and blues influence to round out their sound.
There are many cuts on this 2-CD 50-tracks 4-LP compilation that deserve standing ovations and you can see why they were one of the top British groups of the era.
Many of their Top 10 hits were SWEETS FOR MY SWEET, LOVE POTION #9, TWIST & SHOUT, LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL, NEEDLES AND PINS, DON’T THROW YOUR LOVE AWAY, EACH TIME, TAKE ME FOR WHAT I’M WORTH, I’LL BE DOGGONE, HIGH HEELED SNEAKERS, and 40 more tracks giving you the best value no only in the 24-Karat Gold CD market but in the entire audiophile industry.

"Queensryche, Empire"
QUEENSRYCHE - EMPIRE DCC Sealed 24 Karat Gold CD Long out of print.
Exploring the uncharted territory between heavy metal and progressive rock, Queensryche has always been difficult to categorize. While Operation: Mindcrime is their most highly-praised album, Empire remains their most accessible, with a somewhat more commercial approach that has no negative impact on the quality of the material. Empire produced a string of hit singles, including "Best I Can," the title track, "Jet City Woman," and "Silent Lucidity" (probably their best-known song, and ironically unlike most of their other work). At times sounding a great deal like Pink Floyd, Empire is an impressive collection that is all substance, no filler. "Anybody Listening?", which closes the album, is probably the best perspective on a life lived on stage since Rush's "Limelight".
Track listing
1. Best I Can
2. Thin Line, The
3. Jet City Woman
4. Della Brown
5. Another Rainy Night (Without You)
6. Empire
7. Resistance
8. Silent Lucidity
9. Hand On Heart
10. One And Only
11. Anybody Listening?
Queensryche: Geoff Tate (vocals, keyboards); Chris DeGarmo (6- & 12-string acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards, background vocals); Michael Wilton (6- & 12-string acoustic & electric guitars); Eddie Jackson (electric & fretless basses, background vocals); Scott Rockenfield (drums, percussion).
Additional personnel: Michael Kamen (strings); B.O.B. (background vocals).
Engineers: James "Jimbo" Barton, Paul Northfield.
Recorded at Vancouver Studios, Vancouver, Canada and Triad Studios, Redmond, Washington in 1990.
Digitally remastered by Steve Hoffman.
With the breakthrough success and worldwide respect that Queensryche gained from their conceptual masterpiece OPERATION: MINDCRIME, how could the band possibly outdo or at the least match themselves? Just two years after the release of MINDCRIME Queensryche reinvented themselves (though certainly not for the last time). While many fans were clamoring for a conceptual sequel, the band returned to a song-oriented approach that was more art rock and less metal-edged.
Now quite far removed from the fantasy and techno-paranoia lyrical themes of their earlier works, the band tackled overcoming social and physical handicaps ("Best I Can"), poverty, and regret ("Della Brown"). Focused much less on the darker side of love that was always so prevalent in their sound, the band was now brave enough to be romantic ("Another Rainy Night" and "Hand On Heart"). While Queensryche lost some diehard metal fans with EMPIRE, the mature sound and tight production of Peter Collins (Rush) saw the band break into the mainstream (and top off at #9 on the Billboard singles chart) with the Pink Floyd-inspired "Silent Lucidity."

"Sly And The Family Stone, Small Talk - 180 Gram"
Sly and the Family Stone, led by the enigmatic Sylvester Stewart (aka Sly Stone), were a pioneering funk band in the 60s and 70s who merged rock with funk, had a sexually and racially integrated line-up, and who famously moved from optimistic party anthems and hippy idealism to drug-induced frustration and paranoia.
Sly and the Family Stone were formed in 1966 when Sly Stone merged his struggling band with the struggling band of his brother Freddie, and added bassist Larry Graham. A debut album received good reviews but didn't sell well, so they were reluctantly persuaded to record an overtly commercial single to boost their reputation. Sly came up with the goods in January 1968 with the raucous party anthem "Dance to the Music", which got to No.8 in the pop charts and influenced the sound of soul music for the next several years. There are a few interesting innovations in just this one song: it is performed by a racially integrated group and with instrumental participation by women, it included rock guitar parts in a funk song, and there are four lead singers who take turns to sing.
This was followed in 1969 by their first classic album, Stand!, which included hit singles "Everyday People/Sing a Simple Song" and "I Want to Take You Higher". It eventually sold over three million copies and was followed by a famous Woodstock appearance, and another hit single: "Hot Fun in the Summertime". But internal differences were arising and illicit drug use was increasing at this time, so in the following two years only one single was released. "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" (December 69) is important for two reasons: it prominently featured Larry Graham's new slap-bass method that would become a standard in funk; and it signified the beginning of Sly and the Family Stone's darker period, as they expressed their frustration that the hippy ideals they once offered, of peace and love for all mankind, weren't working.
For much of 70/71, Sly Stone sank deeper into a drug habit and retreated from recording duties. A comeback single, "Family Affair", reached No.1 in late 1971, before the November release of their most acclaimed work: There's a Riot Goin' On. An album of melancholy and frustration, it announced the passing of 60s idealism and the new reality of widespread socio-economic problems. Despite the dark themes, it reached No.1 and is regarded as one of the greatest albums of the decade.
Subsequent albums, such as Fresh (1973) and Small Talk (1974), Fresh is now considered as an important album in the development of funk, while their work overall is regarded as highly influential for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Michael Jackson. Eventually the band fizzled out as members became increasingly frustrated with Sly's erratic and unreliable behaviour, and bookings for live shows dried up. Officially splitting in 1975, some of the key members have since reformed and were touring Europe with Sly in 2007.

"Tony Williams, The Joy Of Flying"
TONY WILLIAMS - THE JOY OF FLYING -
COLUMBIA RECORDS JC35705 OUT OF PRINT PRESSING
FACTORY SEALED LP
Tony Williams' classic fusion album, originally released in 1979. THE ALBUM features such jazz luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Tom Scott, Stanley Clarke, Cecil Taylor, George Benson, Jan Hammer, Brian Auger, Ronnie Montrose and Michael Brecker.
This album is ... excellent! This killer shuffle on "Going Far" is just great. Jan Hammer does a great job too. The second song "Hip Skip" is an awesome funky song which has Jan Hammer, George Benson, funky bassist Paul Jackson, Michael Brecker and Ralph McDonald. "Hittin on 6" is funky too and has Herbie and Stanley playin'. Now comes the hard-rock part of the album: "Open Fire" - a real hard rockin' song. My favorite song(out of 7 killer cuts) is "Tony" by Stanley Clarke. Gotta love Herbie's playing and Tony's tight grooves.. "ERIS" is another song which has Jan Hammer doing Keyboards and all synths and Tony's awesome drumming - but now it's not funky like on "Going far", now its rocking. "Coming Home" is a beatiful song.

"Stevie Wonder, Characters"

CHARACTERS - Characters is one of the lesser known albums in the Stevie Wonder catalog. It would be a great album by most artist's standards. There some great songs including "Skeletons", "Dark 'n' Lovely" and "You Will Know". "Get Up" is a duet with Michael Jackson and the beat of "With Every Beat Of My Heart" is built around a sample of an actual heartbeat. Stevie Ray Vaughan also guests on the album. Track Listings

The set spans a period from an early Marty Balin solo recording in 1962 through a live recording of "You Wear Your Dresses Too Short" from 1972.
If any group deserves a box set career retrospective, it's the Airplane, a great band that post-punk critics have scandalously undervalued. Sorry, but the Airplane was not--repeat, not--just a bunch of stoned hippies singing innocuous little ditties about flower power. Rather, they were one of the most ferocious live acts of their day, terrific songwriters capable of both tender ballads and squalling, almost atonal rockers, and they had attitude to burn, which is a roundabout way of saying that they had more in common with the punks that followed them than those punks were prepared to admit.
In any case, this set is not strictly speaking a greatest-hits package, although just about every important Airplane song is represented; it is LOVES YOU's smart idea, however, to present most of them in previously unreleased live versions. This is a particularly good move, given that the Airplane's studio albums, up to and including VOLUNTEERS, were consistently among the worst produced of any major band of their era, and while no live recording really does justice to the Airplane's monumental concert sound, the ones here come close enough. Essential listening.

Cal Tjader Plugs In, At The Lighthouse
Cal Tjader was a beautiful musician concerned above all with attractive melodies and deep rhythms. He's often dismissed out of hand by many jazz fans, a shame since if they would just put their prejudices aside, they would find that he meant every note he played, no less so than Milt Jackson or Bobby Hutcherson. This album documents a 1969 live performance where Tjader and his band are in perfect synergy with all in attendance. Indeed, the audience occasionally breaks into spontaneous applause in mid-song just because the musicians are in such a sweet groove. The material ranges from Horace Silver's "Nica's Dream" to the Banana Splits theme (no joke!) and everything swings equally. This album has a glow to it that's hard to describe, the rhythms cook nicely while the sound of Tjader's vibes and Al Zulaica's electric piano totally mellow you out. It's infectious and positive and very well-recorded. Highly recommended!

"Sly And The Family Stone - 4 Titles - Small Talk, Stand, Fresh & Dance To The Music"
SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE - 4 LP SET WITH THESE FOUR TITLES - SMALL TALK - STAND - FRESH & DANCE TO THE MUSIC -
ALL OUT OF PRINT RARE 180 GRAM ORIGINAL HEAVY VINYL LIMITED EDITION PRESSINGS FROM THE ORIGINAL LABEL.
FACTORY SEALED LP - vinyl pressing .
DANCE TO THE MUSIC -
Surely one of the best Sly & The Family Stone albums ever released. This album has so many great songs - cover to cover. Every track a stomping, funk masterpiece. The unbelievably timeless, uplifting funk that is DANCE TO THE MEDLEY alone makes the album essential -- a true party song. Other tracks (from a group rated one of the top 50 rock n roll artists of all time) include: DANCE TO THE MUSIC - HIGHER - I AIN?T GOT NOBODY FOR REAL - RIDE THE RHYTHM - COLOR ME TRUE - ARE YOU READY - DON'T BURN BABY - I'LL NEVER FALL IN LOVE AGAIN - SOUL CLAPPIN?.
FRESH - Coming as it did on the heels of the There's a Riot Goin' On, 1973's Fresh surprised a lot of Sly fans by actually living up to its name. The weariness and paranoia of Riot are totally missing in action, replaced by a relaxed optimism that seems to shine from every note of tracks like "If You Want Me to Stay" and "In Time." The band--newly buttressed by the rhythm section of Rusty Allen and Andy Newmark--plays it loose and funky, and Sly's oddball sense of humor resurfaces on a cover of Doris Day's "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)."
Tracks include: . In Time 2. If You Want Me to Stay 3. Let Me Have It All 4. Frisky 5. Thankful N' Thoughtful 6. Skin I'm In 7. I Don't Know (Satisfaction) 8. Keep on Dancin' 9. Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) 10. If It Were Left Up to Me 11. Babies Makin' Babies
