THE WHO MFSL 24 KARAT GOLD CD - FACTORY SEALED & IN COLLECTORS CONDITION WITH NO STORES STICKERS EVER ATTACHED.
While both THE WHO SELL OUT and TOMMY have their passionate devotees, WHO'S NEXT is the Who's masterpiece. Originally, Pete Townshend intended these songs for an even larger-scale project than TOMMY, a massive multimedia extravaganza called LIFEHOUSE that the songwriter eventually abandoned. Townshend was initially keen to keep at least the basic structure of the story for the Who's next record, but associate producer Glyn Johns convinced him that a straightforward single disc of the project's best songs would make a stronger album. Wise counsel indeed, because WHO'S NEXT is by far the group's most focused and powerful effort.
Bracketed by "Baba O'Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again," two classic rock epics that did more to advance the cause of synthesizers in mainstream rock than Kraftwerk's entire career, this album is basically flawless, ranging in mood from the heartbreaking "The Song Is Over" to John Entwistle's bitterly funny "My Wife." Although nearly every song on the record, barring only the bluesy acoustic interlude "Love Ain't for Keeping," is a saturation-level FM-rock-radio mainstay, WHO'S NEXT is that rarity--an intimately familiar album that never gets tiresome.

Bryan Adams was played a great deal on the radio in 1984/5; his music was the most radio-friendly rock to have been heard in a long time. Revisiting this album more than a decade later still confirms this; if anything, hearing him less makes you like him more. The hit singles still sound consistently good - 'Somebody', 'Summer Of '69' and 'Run To You' - but although he has a clearly recognizable style and sound all the other tracks sound fresh. Adams never needs to top this record as there is enough grist on this to keep him playing live forever.

Master Sound releases are 24-karat gold CDs remastered from first generation masters. This process utilizes 20-bit technology and Sony's "Super Bit Mapping" system.

Vaughan's death in August 1990 brought to a tragic end the surging wave of his popularity. The album he had made with his brother Jimmie, FAMILY STYLE, had just been released and this album, prepared by Jimmie from the various album sessions, was not expected to amount to much. In fact, this was at least as good as any of them--and better than LIVE ALIVE. "Little Wing" was perhaps his best adaptation of a Jimi Hendrix song. His take on the Elmore James title song was also a fitting tribute to both the writer and the performer. There are bound to be further compilations and live recordings released, but these studio recordings are testimony to Stevie Ray's devotion to his craft.

One of the pivotal recordings in bringing about the wide-spread acceptance of SONNY ROLLINS as a major figure, SAXOPHONE COLOSSUS inspired critics to write scholarly analyses and fans to revel in hard swinging invention, humor, and tender strength balladry. Up to this Album, while most musicians recognize Rollins as one of the new influential forces in the Jazz of the fifties, most critics were carping at Rollins or damning him with feint praise. “St. Thomas” a traditional West Indian melody which Mal Waldron remembered as “The Carnival” was recorded by many artists after Sonny introduced it here. It remains a Jazz standard today. The contributions of Tommy Flanagan’s eloquent swing, Doug Watkin’s steady lift, and Max Roach’s most musical accompaniment and soloing make this a landmark album.

Here's How it was done:
Using only the original analog master tapes, the renowned team of Steve Hoffman & Kevin Gray remastered and cut all of the titles at AcousTech Mastering, which features a pure Class-A disc-cutting system. AcousTech is located at Record Technology, Inc. the plant where the vinyl was pressed. It is a tremendous sonic advantage to have the pressing plant plating department & mastering room in the same facility as Steve & Kevin could cut a lacquer and plated immediately. This prevents the degradation of the grooves in a lacquer which is very fragile to quick deterioration.
And of course cutting at 45 speed is the audiophile choice for the highes quality. A 45-RPM record is sonically superior to a 33 1/3 variety because of a 35 percent reduction of groove curvature compared to a 33 1/3 cut.. 45 Speed – 2 Sealed LP Set – At Prestige, Gene Ammons basically did two types of sessions: a jamming situation with several other all-star horns; or a quartet format featuring a top-flight rhythm section behind him. Whatever the setting, "Jug" as he was nicknamed, displayed that dominant trait held in common with other giants in the grand history of his chosen instrument, the tenor saxophone-the ability to tell a story. Here are the blues, the ballads, Charlie Parker's "Confirmation," and Eddie Heywood's "Canadian Sunset." The latter had Been a hit for its pianist-composer and was again for Ammons. An added feature here is the addition of jazz-oriented conga player, Ray Barretto, to the piano, bass, and drums of Tommy Flanagan, Doug Watkins, and Arthur Taylor.

Here's How it was done:
Using only the original analog master tapes, the renowned team of Steve Hoffman & Kevin Gray remastered and cut all of the titles at AcousTech Mastering, which features a pure Class-A disc-cutting system. AcousTech is located at Record Technology, Inc. the plant where the vinyl was pressed. It is a tremendous sonic advantage to have the pressing plant plating department & mastering room in the same facility as Steve & Kevin could cut a lacquer and plated immediately. This prevents the degradation of the grooves in a lacquer which is very fragile to quick deterioration.
And of course cutting at 45 speed is the audiophile choice for the highes quality. A 45-RPM record is sonically superior to a 33 1/3 variety because of a 35 percent reduction of groove curvature compared to a 33 1/3 cut.. It means that while you can't fit as much music into a 45, the undukations of the groove that your cartridge has to track are stretched over a longer distance. For these reissues, the music was displaced onto four sides, meaning each side contains about 10 minutes of music.
This is the ultimate reissues. The only way you'll get closer to this classic music is to listen to the master tapes or have been in the studio with the artist originally during the actual session.

Coleman Hawkins is frequently identified as the father of the tenor saxophone. After the worldwide success of Tommy, Pete Townshend decided to take a second stab at "rock opera" and 1973's Quadrophenia was the result. Its premise is rooted in a teenage perspective in 1964-'65, and the friction between "mods and rockers" in the London and Brighton regions of the UK. The four-way split personality of the central figure "Jimmy" has been admitted by Townshend as also being based on the distinct personalities of the four band members. The legendary Glyn Johns' production is both powerful and stunning with the writing and arrangements, featuring maybe the most tasteful use of both sound effects and synthesizers in rock recording, brilliant. This LP was mastered and cut from the original ¼" analog master tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering using Classic's all-tube analog cutting system. Gatefold artwork including tipped-in 44-page booklet are given the usual Classic authenticity treatment down to the paper stock being original.

This Heavy Vinyl LP is a listening experience that will virtually make you feel as if you were in the studio with the band. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and ears.
This, the third of the 3-volume series of rare Jimi Hendrix studio out-takes, finds the guitarist back in America and recording at Electric Ladyland and The Record Plant. We are again invited to follow Hendrix as he endeavors to fashion loose musical ideas into developed songs or frameworks for his electrifying live jams. These tracks very much reflect the artist at work in the studio, and is yet another illuminating glimpse into the creative process of probably the greatest guitarist of our time.
Side 1:
1. Valleys of Neptune - recorded at the same session as Freedom, this instrumental starts out as if it’s destined to become a great track until Hendrix playing blithely away admits half way through that he hadn’t thought up an ending yet.
2. Freedom - This alternate version featuring a different set of lyrics, is one of 19 takes recorded with Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell at The Record Plant in 1970.
3. Bleeding Heart - Originally recorded in March 1970 at The Record Plant with an un-named drummer and no bass player. The over-dubs, with Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Juma Sultan were added later. This is an alternate mix of an unused take. This sound on this track is particularly good.
4. Midnight Lightning Jam - From the July 14, 1970 Electric Ladyland sessions with Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell and Juma Sultan. This is very much a work in progress which becomes more than apparent as the track unravels after a few minutes which is most unfortunate as what we do get to hear sounds terrific.
5. Drifters Escape - A basic track recorded at Electric Ladyland on June 17, 1970 with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox. This version, which sounds absolutely superb, has three lead guitar parts.
6. Send My Love To Linda - Another track recorded during many sessions at The Record Plant, this one having taken place on January 16, 1970. This is the second take of a new song that unfortunately was never completed.
Side 2:
1. Astro Man - Instrumental backing track (take 7) recorded in June 1970 at Electric Ladyland with Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Juma Sultan. Different versions appear on First Rays Of The New Rising Sun and in the Experience Hendrix Box Set.
2. Lover Man - A track from May 1970 recorded at The Record Plant. Previously unreleased until two alternate versions (one recorded at Olympic and a later one at Electric Ladyland) were included in the Experience Hendrix Box Set.
3. Earth Blues - Recorded at The Record Plant in December 1969 with Juma Sultan, The Band of Gypsies and The Ronnettes, this alternate mix is one of 16 takes and features totally different guitar parts.
4. Room Full of Mirrors - Recorded with The Band of Gypsies and with the Ghetto Fighters (Hendrix’s long-time friends Arthur and Albert Allen) on backing vocals on November 17, 1969 at The Record Plant. This version is an alternate unused mix with extra guitar parts. Hendrix was constantly searching for a unique sound and this, coupled with the fact that he disliked the sound of his own voice, meant that many versions were rejected, much to the amazement and frustration of engineers Tony Bongiovi and Tommy Erdelyi.

Banjoist Elmer Snowden only led two albums in the LP era, and his OJC LP reissue is his best showcase. Snowden, who is joined by stride pianist Cliff Jackson, bassist Tommy Bryant and drummer Jimmy Crawford, is the lead voice throughout the dozen standards, all of which date from the 1920s or '30s. Snowden's dixieland banjo style is a lost art, and this is his definitive recording. Highly recomended joyous music.

Factory Sealed Classic Analog LP Pressing.
The 1956 edition of Shelly Manne's Men is heard in an all-originals program: Charlie Parker's swinging "Rhythm"-based "Moose the Mooche" (including Bird's chorus from his Dial recording); Johnny Mandel's "Tommyhawk," a volatile minor-key swinger; and two from within the band's ranks, Russ Freeman's tender, brooding "The Wind," and Charlie Mariano's deep-dish, nine-minute "Pint of Blues." The piece de resistance is the 15-minute suite in four parts, "Quartet," by Bill Holman. The composer explains that while it "corresponds broadly to the four movements of the classical sonata form," it has not been used "because it is a classical form but because it has proven itself, though centuries of use, capable of supporting (as framework) a composition of this length."

10 Days Out…Blues From The Backroads documents the voyage of blues guitar great Kenny Wayne Shepherd as he travels the country to jam with, interview and generally pay homage to the last of the authentic blues greats. Beginning in New Orleans and ending with a grand finale concert at Acoustic Sounds' own Blue Heaven Studios in Salina, Kansas, Shepherd's pilgrimage is a perfect lens into blues history and with absolutely exceptional cinematography and editing (on the CD/DVD version only). This is a major-league production about what all too often is treated as a minor-league genre.
The guitar-slinger Shepherd, along with the Double Trouble rhythm section of Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, begins in New Orleans, where they meet with Clarence "Gatemouth Brown" and Bryan Lee. Their tour busses rumble north to Shepherd's hometown of Shreveport where he and Buddy Flett jam at Leadbelly's graveside. They continue on into Mississippi to perform with B.B. King in his hometown of Indianola. Then it's over to Alabama to visit the home of Jerry "Boogie" McCain. The tour continues into rural North Carolina to meet with the Piedmont blues masters Cootie Stark, Neil Pattman, John Dee Holeman and Etta Baker. They turn West to jam with the great Henry Townsend in his St. Louis living room along with Honeyboy Edwards, who came down from Chicago for the session. Finally, the production ends at Blue Heaven Studios in Salina, KS. There, Kenny performs with surviving members of Muddy Waters' and Howlin' Wolf's bands. The concert included Pinetop Perkins, Bob Margolin, Calvin "Fuzz" Jones, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Henry Gray and Hubert Sumlin along with guests Wild Child Butler, Lazy Lester, Jimmy D. Lane, Double Trouble and Noah Hunt. The performances are absolutely legendary and the beauty of the old church sanctuary with a revved up "congregation" is truly something to behold. 10 Days Out... is a no-brainer for any blues fan, but it's also the perfect introduction to the blues. And consider for historic sake that since this filming in June 2004, six of the legends documented within have died, making 10 Days Out... a crucial artifact in all future generations' explorations into such an integral part of American music history.
Now, the incredible music captured on this once-in-a-lifetime voyage is available for us vinyl-loving blues fans.
