"Traffic, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys"

MFSL 24K GOLD CD LOW SPARK & HIGH HEELED BOYS - The main core of Traffic, Steven Winwood (Vocals, Keyboard, Guitar), Jim Capaldi (Drums, Vocals), and Chris Wood (Woodwinds) -- re-united in 1971, enlising additional players to augment their sound. Joining up were Drummer, Jim Gordon, (Delaney & Bonnie, Derek & The Dominos), Bassist , Rick Grech (Family, Blind Faith), and Percussionist Re-Bob. The result of this new grouping was one of the best received recordings of the seventies. With the 12-minute title track, along with "Rock n Roll Stew" attaining classic FM radio status over the years. The expanded line up allowed for more freedom of musical experimentation and made for some interesting and strong writing collaborations between old and new members. Track listing 1. Hidden Treasure 2. Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys, The 3. Rock & Roll Stew 4. Many A Mile To Freedom 5. Light Up Or Leave Me Alone 6. Rainmaker Details Producer: Steve Winwood Distributor: n/a Recording type: Studio Recording mode: Stereo SPAR Code: AAD Album notes THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS was a big change from the quiet, largely acoustic flavor of Traffic's reunion album JOHN BARLEYCORN MUST DIE. Although the gentle opening track, "Hidden Treasure," and the meandering, mellow closer, "Rainmaker," were in keeping with the pastoral vibe of the previous record, sandwiched in between those are several increasingly aggressive and lyrically sour songs about that evergreen topic--life in a rock & roll band. The venality of the business gets a workout in the 12-minute title track, a slow-building jazz-rock groove that starts with a sense of quiet menace and ends with a pealing, distorted guitar solo, with one of Steve Winwood's most impassioned and lengthy organ solos at the song's heart. "Rock & Roll Stew" and Jim Capaldi's sneering putdown "Light Up or Leave Me Alone" are even more forceful, with only the groovy ecological message of "Many a Mile to Freedom" lightening the mood. Even that song rocks harder than anything on JOHN BARLEYCORN MUST DIE, though, and that extra hint of power is likely what helped make THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS Traffic's most commercially successful album in the United States. Editorial reviews ...as musicians [Winwood] and Traffic have never played better...The longest and the best cut on the album is the title track...creative ensemble playing... "XTC, Skylarking - Factory Sealed MFSL 24-Karat Gold CD"

MFSL 24K GOLD CD. Artist: XTC Release Date: Nov 08, 1994 Format: CD Record Label: Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab UPC: 015775161528 Genre: Rock Duration: Album or EP Sub-Genre: Alternative & Indie Condition: Brand new Special Attributes: 24k Gold Disc, Remastered, Special Edition Track listing 1. Season Cycle 2. Big Day 3. Meeting Place, The 4. Another Satellite 5. Ballet For a Rainy Day 6. Grass 7. Dear God 8. Sacrificial Bonfire 9. Earn Enough For Us 10. 1,000 Umbrellas 11. Summer's Cauldron 12. Man Who Sailed Around His Soul, The 13. That's Really Super, Supergirl 14. Dying Details Producer: Todd Rundgren Recording type: Studio Recording mode: Stereo XTC: Andy Partridge (vocals, guitar); Dave Gregory (vocals, guitar, piano, Chamberlin, synthesizer); Colin Moulding (vocals, bass). Though borne out of frustrating circumstances, SKYLARKING proved, upon its 1986 release, to be XTC's biggest seller. Attention was spurred along by "Dear God," which was originally issued only as a B-side and not even included on the album. Subsequent pressings quickly substituted the song (removing "Mermaid Smiled," which resurfaced on RAG & BONE BUFFET). At the time, Andy Partridge was extremely vocal about the band's dissatisfaction in working with producer Todd Rundgren. Intervening years have softened the memory of personal clashes and he now also embraces this as one of their finest hours (as had been the case with most of their fans all along). With hooks galore ("That's Really Super, Supergirl," "Season Cycle"), lush orchestrations ("1000 Umbrellas"), acoustic reveries ("Grass," "Sacrificial Bonfire"), and even some big fat electric guitars and drums ("Earn Enough For Us"), this is a perfect starting point for anyone unfamiliar with the fine XTC catalog. Editorial reviews 5 stars out of 5 - ...A masterpiece....Todd Rundgren-produced SKYLARKING came out bright, beautiful - and sexy in a DH Lawrence style... Q (07/01/2001) Ranked #1 in CMJ's Top 20 Most-Played Albums of 1987 CMJ (01/05/2004) SKYLARKING is the album that tied up everything great about Swindon's finest into one big beautiful package of perfect pop, saving their career in the process. Uncut Rolling Stone #48 in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Albums Of The 80s survey (November 1989)

"Moody Blues, On The Threshold of a Dream - Factory Sealed MFSL 24-Karat Gold CD"

MFSL 24K GOLD CD. This 1969 release features the purveyors of classical rock in all their sonic splendor. Track listing 1. In the Beginning 2. Lovely to See You 3. Dear Diary 4. Send Me No Wine 5. To Share Our Love 6. So Deep Within You 7. Never Comes the Day 8. Lazy Day 9. Are You Sitting Comfortably 10. Dream, The 11. Have You Heard (Part 1) 12. Voyage, The 13. Have You Heard (Part 2) Producer: Tony Clarke Recording type: Studio Recording mode: Stereo Album notes The Moody Blues: Mike Pinder, Justin Hayward, Ray Thomas, John Lodge, Graeme Edge. Additional personnel: Pete Jackson (triangle). Originally released on Deram (1035). Includes liner notes by John Reed. Digitally remastered by Steve Fallone (PolyGram Studios). The Moody Blues: Mike Pinder, Justin Hayward, Ray Thomas, John Lodge, Graeme Edge. Additional personnel: Pete Jackson (triangle). Includes liner notes by David Lymonds and Lionel Bart. Where this album's predecessor IN SEARCH OF THE LOST CHORD dipped deeply into Eastern-flavored psychedelia, THRESHOLD is more of a straightforward rock record. Things open up experimentally enough, with a spoken-word vignette over electronic drones, but this leads straight into one of the Moodies' poppiest, most up-tempo songs, "Lovely to see You," which would remain a concert favorite for decades. Even notoriously theatrical flautist/vocalist Ray Thomas keeps his eccentricities in check on his effective ballad "Dear Diary." Keyboardist Mike Pinder takes a surprisingly lascivious vocal turn on the anomalous, leering rocker "So Deep Within You." Justin Hayward provides the lion's share of ear-tickling moments with pretty folk-rock tunes such as "Never Comes the Day" and "Are you Sitting Comfortably," while the most adventurous piece "Have you Heard/The Voyage" extends over three discrete tracks, featuring complex instrumental passages and lush harmonies. THRESHOLD doesn't come off as an attempt to cater to the mainstream, it's just a more song-based, less exotic recording than its predecessors.

Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether, (The System of) 6. Fall of the House of Usher: Prelude / Arrival / Intermezzo / Pavane / Fall 7. To One in Paradise Contributing artists: Arthur Brown, Billy Lyall, David Paton, Jack Harris, John Miles, Stuart Tosh, Terry Sylvester Producer: Alan Parsons Personnel includes: Alan Parsons (vocals, guitar, keyboards); John Miles, Leonard Whiting, Arthur Brown (vocals); David Paton (guitar, bass, background vocals); Laurence Juber, Kevin Peek, Ian Bairnson, David Pack (guitar); Hugo D'Alton (mandolin); David Snell (harp); Billy Lyall (recorder, keyboards); Eric Woolfson (harpsichord, keyboards, background vocals); Francis Monkman (harpsichord); Christopher North (keyboards); Joe Puerta, Darryl Runswick, Les Hurdle (bass); Burleigh Drummond, Stuart Tosh (drums); The Westminster City School Boys Choir, Jack Harris, Terry Sylvester, Jane Powell, Bob Howes, The English Chorale (background vocals). Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, England between July 1975 and January 1976. The maiden voyage of the Alan Parsons Project, 1976's TALES OF MYSTERY & IMAGINATION, finds Parsons paying homage to the thrilling work of suspense legend Edgar Allan Poe. Although such an ambitious undertaking would likely be a disaster for most debuting artists, Parsons had engineered albums by the Beatles and Pink Floyd, making the British musician more than familiar with adventurous, highly textured records. TALES opens with no less than film legend Orson Welles providing narration over Parsons's mesmerizing melody for "A Dream Within a Dream," while "The Raven" and "(The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" prove to be the most pop-oriented tracks on the album, employing electronically treated vocals and prog-rock pomp and circumstance to convey the arch strangeness of these stories. Much of TALES consists of keyboard-driven instrumentals that capture the suspenseful nature of Poe's work, most notably the haunting "Intermezzo" and the spine-chilling "Fall," both part of the "Fall of the House of Usher" suite. To listen to TALES OF MYSTERY & IMAGINATION is to hear a young artist challenging himself from his creative outset and crafting an intriguing set of songs in the process.

Booker T. & The MG's: Booker T. Jones (piano); Steve Cropper (guitar); Donald "Duck" Dunn (bass); Al Jackson, Jr. (drums). The Memphis Horns: Wayne Jackson, Andrew Love (horns). Recorded at Stax Recording Studio, Memphis, Tennessee between March 1966 and June 1967. The giant left-handed guitarist was no stranger to the recording studio by 1966, but Albert King had still to make his mark with the record-buying public. When he linked up with the cream of Stax's Memphis musicians, including Booker T. And The MGs and the Memphis Horns, that connection was made. "Laundromat Blues", "Oh, Pretty Woman" and "Crosscut Saw" set the scene for "Born Under A Bad Sign" and "The Hunter", which quickly found their way into the repertoires of Cream and Free. The convolutions of his guitar style were perfectly complemented by the trademark Stax funk rhythms. The team went on to make many more singles and albums, none of which could surpass the achievements of their first meeting.

"Allman Brothers, Eat A Peach - MFSL Gold Sealed CD With J-Card - Factory Sealed MFSL Gold CD"

MFSL LIMITED EDITION FACTORY SEALED ALLMAN BROTHERS, EAT A PEACH - MFSL 24-Karat Gold Cd Long Out Of Print with J-Card. Having firmly established themselves as "The Grateful Dead of the South" via their enormously successful 1971 Live at the Fillmore East double album, the Allman Brothers had just begun work on a new studio collection when slide guitarist Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident. Undaunted, the group rallied together and completed Eat a Peach, which, via inclusion of the 34-minute-plus "Mountain Jam," blossomed into a double LP. While keyboardist-singer Gregg Allman shone on tracks like Sonny Boy Williamson's "One Way Out" and his own "Melissa," it was second guitarist Dickey Betts who came out from under the departed Allman's shadow with his lead vocal on "Blue Sky" and his incendiary playing throughout Track Listings 1. "Art Blakey, A Night In Tunisia - Factory Sealed MFSL Gold CD"

MFSL 24-Karat Gold Sealed Track listing 1. Night In Tunisia, A 2. Sincerely Diana 3. Sincerely Diana - (alternate take) 4. So Tired 5. Yama 6. Kozo's Waltz 7. When Your Lover Has Gone Details Distributor: n/a Recording type: Studio Recording mode: Stereo SPAR Code: AAD Album notes Full performer name: Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers: Art Blakey (drums); Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone); Lee Morgan (trumpet); Bobby Timmons (piano); Jymie Merritt (bass). Producer: Alfred Lion. Reissue producer: Michael Cuscuna. Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on August 7 & 14, 1960. Includes liner notes by Barbara J. Gardner. Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers met their artistic peak with the powerful A NIGHT IN TUNISIA. This incarnation of the group included Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons and Jymie Merritt with their leader Blakey. As the Messengers entered their most fruitful period for Blue Note, Blakey drove his men relentlessly with powerful grooves, heavy swinging and shouts of encouragement. This session documents the full power of his assertive leadership and the masterful playing of his sidemen, each rising to legendary status under his tutelage. Long known for their creative arrangements within the context of small group jazz, the Messengers push the definition of hardbop and blues to the limit here. Dizzy Gillespie's title track is evidence enough of the creative power of this group: Blakey's steam shovel-like mambo, Morgan and Shorter's wailing solos and a dramatic ending make for a stunning piece. Shorter's contribution includes the swinging "Sincerely Diana," presented in two takes here. The soulful Bobby Timmons presents his delightful "So Tired," a bluesy number in the spirit of his classic "Dat Dere." Also included are Lee Morgan's smoky "Yama," the bouncing "Kozo's Waltz" and the classic "When Your Lover Has Gone."

Watch Yourself Details Contributing artists: Lloyd Glenn Producer: Bob Thiele Distributor: n/a Recording type: Studio Recording mode: Stereo SPAR Code: AAD Album notes Personnel: B.B. King (vocals, guitar); Maxwell Davis (leader, organ); Irving Ashby (guitar); Bobby Forte (tenor saxophone); Cecil McNeely, Bob McNeely (saxophone); Mel Moore (trumpet); John Ewing (trombone); Lloyd Glenn (piano); David Allen (bass); Jesse Sailes (drums). Recorded on December 18 & 20, 1967. Includes liner notes by Sheldon Harris. In December 1967, B.B. King entered the studio with noted jazz producer Bob Thiele to record what eventually became LUCILLE. Named after King's guitar, this record finds B.B. adding some fresh ingredients to his already potent stew of traditional blues. With its biting brass and female back-up singers, "You Move Me So" is a funky, spiritual workout, whereas "I Need Your Love" finds King combining Sam Cooke-flavored vocalizing with a dash of rambling country-flavored piano. As for the blues, Riley B. King has 'em and isn't afraid to share. He digs deep and bathes Ivory Joe Hunter's "No Money No Luck" in heavy pathos. The title track is the most impressive and spontaneous number on this record despite its near-ten-minute length. Done in a talking blues style, "Lucille" started out with King telling the story of his guitar while noodling around on her during a break. Correctly sensing that blues gold was being freshly served up, an excited Thiele had the engineer flip on the record button, preserving a conversation between a man and his guitar for posterity.
