"Heart, Dreamboat Annie - 180 Gram"180 Gram Limited Edition Virgin Vinyl "Out of Print". Digitally re-mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, - Portland, Oregon. Recorded at Can/Base Studios in Vancouver, Canada. You will be one of the last people in the world to upgrade your music collection with this outstanding piece of audiophile vinyl. Heart's 1976 album, Dreamboat Annie, is easily one of the seventies best rock debuts. Lead by two sisters, singer Ann - gutarist, Nancy Wilson who combined the mystical folk of Joni Mitchell with the heavy metal stomp of Led Zeppelin. The album spawned several hits which became classic rock radio staples. Both Magic Man and Crazy On You are red-hot rockers while the title track is more subdued. Dreamboat Annie showed the largely male dominated seventies rock world that the Wilson Sisters could rock every bit as hard as their macho peers. Tracks Include:"Magic Man" "Dreamboat Annie(Fantasy Child)" "Crazy On You" "Soul Of The Sea" "Dreamboat Annie" "White Lightning & Wine" "(Love Me Like Music)I'll Be Your Song" "How Deep It Goes" "Dreamboat Annie(Reprise)". "Herbie Hancock, Man-Child - 180 Gram LP - CURRENTLY SOLD OUT"HERBIE HANCOCK/MAN-CHILD FACTORY SEALED LP - High definition analog 180 GRAM vinyl pressing for superior fidelity. Released in 1975, Man-Child was a Top 40 hit for Herbie Hancock which includes an amazing round up of talented musicians like Wayne Shorter and Stevie Wonder. Man-Child is another strong electronic jazz-funk album from Herbie Hancock The opening track "Hang Up Your Hang Ups" with its snappy horn lines and funky guitar is easily the best track here. Herbie has a great solo near the end of the track as well. "The Traitor", with its funky bass line, and "Heartbeat", which has a great hook and more great playing from Herbie, are great as well. "Steppin' In It" is a cool little jam featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica. . A solid album. It's worth checking out just for "Hang Up Your Hang Ups", one of the best from his funk era. "Herbie Hancock, Mwandishi - 180 Gram"Herbie Hancock - Mwandishi - 180 Gram Limited Edition classic LP high-definition Virgin Vinyl pressing for superior fidelity. Recorded with the sly, space-funky band that Herbie Hancock formed as Mwandishi, is one of those cornerstone jazz LPs. It ranks with the best early, electric fusion for its fuzzing of textures, always used as bedrock for killer, roomy solos. A troika of horn greats can take much of the credit for the solos: trombonist Julian Priester, trumpeter Eddie Henderson, and saxist Bennie Maupin. Each generates great, dense ideas without betraying Hancock's eerie ambience and funky vibe. Yes, this is an aggregation of many 1970s-era ideas: renewed sense of Africanisms (at least in the band's naming), intensified percussives and rumbly rhythms that give props to everyone in neofunk jazz from Clyde Stubblefield to Funkadelic, although in a slowed, methodically rhythmic vein. "Herbie Hancock, Takin Off - Out of Print - 180 Gram LP"Herbie Hancock - TAKIN OFF on 180 Gram Limited Edition Vinyl - Out of Print If you are a Collector of the top 100 best Lps or singles of all-time this pressing here is one of the rarest and most valuable pressing ever. Mastered by Kevin Gray. At 21, Herbie Hancock was already a mature and well-traveled musician. He played Mozart with the Chicago Symphony at age 11, studied at Grinnell College and by age 20 played with Donald Byrd. Takin' Off, his Blue Note debut, is a sophisticated showcase for Hancock's ability as a group leader. Not as intellectually challenging or technically complex as his later recordings, the pianist nevertheless displays a restless imagination and technical verve. When he's not striking off on funky, swinging solos, the backing chords are restrained an unassuming. He's controlling the session and confident enough to let his soloists (Freddie Hubbard on trumpet and Dexter Gordon on tenor sax - both in fine, relaxed form) take the spotlight. From the now-legendary hit "Watermelon Man" to the reflective, noir-ish "Alone and I," this is a great first album that foreshadows the greatness that would follow on his Blue Note masterworks, Empyrean Isles and Maiden Voyage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. His band "The Stooges" had just released a couple of non - selling records, 1969's self titled debut and 1970's "Fun House", which at the time meant nothing, but were in actual fact wonderful garage albums, which many bands far more famous would have been well proud of. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and your ears. The ultimate record -- the way music was meant to be heard and of superior quality for any Audiophile. And of course cutting at 45 speed is the audiophile choice for the highes quality. A 45-RPM record is sonically superior to a 33 1/3 variety because of a 35 percent reduction of groove curvature compared to a 33 1/3 cut.. It means that while you can't fit as much music into a 45, the undukations of the groove that your cartridge has to track are stretched over a longer distance. For these reissues, the music was displaced onto four sides, meaning each side contains about 10 minutes of music. The only way you'll get closer to this classic music is to listen to the master tapes or have been in the studio with the artist originally during the actual session. You will be one of the last people in the world to own this 1st Edition Masterpiece. This self-titled album from 1962 continues our reissue series from the Epic Jazz Stereorama catalog. Transferred from the 3-track masters, it finds Jacquet's tenor fronting an all-star band featuring Roy Eldridge, Leo Parker, Kenny Burrell, Cecil Payne & Jo Jones. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Isley Brothers, Greatest Hits - 180 Gram "ISLEY BROTHERS - GREATEST HITS - IN THE LIMITED EDITION 180 GRAM HEAVY VINYL PRESSING. Out of Print FACTORY SEALED LP - GREATEST HITS - For more than 40 years, the Isley Brothers have preached the sexy, salty gospel of R&B. With stinging rock & roll guitars (supplied by Ernie) and satiny, seductive vocals (courtesy of Ronald), this family from Teaneck, New Jersey, has been responsible for some of the most popular and groundbreaking hits in rhythm & blues. Their songs are not only classic jams, but, as this collection proves, hotter than most current radio fare. The funk is brought on the throbbing "That Lady" and the fiery "Fight the Power." The love is made on lilting ballads "For the Love of You" and the heavily sampled "Footsteps in the Dark"; the party starts on the finger-popping "It's Your Thing." All of it makes this album a must for lovers of soul. "Janis Joplin, Janis (2 LPs) - 180 Gram"180 Gram Limited Edition Analog Virgin Vinyl. One of the Top 40 Artists of All-Time, there are only three women on that list -- one is Aretha Franklin, the other is Joni Mitchell, and the third is Janis Joplin. JANIS - For the longest time, this important piece of Janis's growth and history, was only available as a cassette. (And naturally, that is not available anymore, unless you find it used.) The "JANIS" ALBUM was originally the SOUNDTRACK ALBUM for the movie JANIS. (A cool biography film, indispensible for Janis fans.) Only the second half of this recording, is really the movie soundtrack. There's some live cuts from the FESTIVAL EXPRESS Canadian tour, with FULL TILT BOOGY band, and a live cut from a local San Fransesco PBS music show, with BIG BROTHER, from early 1967. Other of her key songs are on that first LP, to complete that part of her superstar story. However, the REAL reason to buy this LP, is for what's on the FIRST LP. It's a long tape of songs, from Janis, and the WALLER CREEK BOYS, from late 1962- early 1963. There are also songs from 1965 when Janis sang with the DICK OXTOT JAZZ BAND, and a few folk songs, that Janis recorded very early. These songs include :TROUBLE IN MIND, WHAT GOOD CAN DRINKING DO, SILVER THREADS AND GOLDEN NEEDLES, MISSISSIPI RIVER, STEALIN, NO REASON FOR LIVIN, BLACK MOUNTAIN BLUES, WALK RIGHT IN, RIVER JORDAN, MARY JANE, KANSIS CITY BLUES, DADDY DADDY DADDY, C.C. RIDER, SAN FRANSESCO BAY BLUES, WININ BOY, CARELESS LOVE, I'LL DROWN IN MY OWN TEARS. The sound on these recordings are acceptable, especially considering the age, and historical value. (If you happen to have the 1966 rare live recording of BIG BROTHER, made just weeks after Janis joined the band, it's obvious Janis brought a few of these songs with her into BIG BROTHER's early set list.) Hearing how JANIS developed her gift, that INCREDIBLE gift, is just as musically rewarding, as listening to the first BOB DYLAN LP, or the Beatle's ANTHOLOGY LP'S. If nothing else, it shows that Janis KNEW HER BLUES AND FOLK HERITAGE. She did not just join BIG BROTHER, and suddenly become a star overnight. So Listen to Janis, before the drugs, and loud rock music, made her start to scream and yell so much. Here is JANIS, a beautiful, aware, blossoming talent the likes of which has not been heard since. "Janis Joplin, Kozmic Blues - 180 Gram" JANIS JOPLIN - KOZMIC BLUES- 180 Gram Limited Edition classic LP high-definition Virgin Heavy Vinyl pressing FROM THE ORIGINAL LABEL AND THE 1ST EDITION 180 GRAM PRESSING EVER MADE OF THIS TITLE. Collectors Note: This limited edition pressing is now out of print & gone from the last distributor that had any of these pressing left within their inventory. This means that this specific title is "Here Today but For Sure Gone Tomorrow Forever". So Don't Miss Out on adding this to your collection beacuse mymusicfix only has a couple copies left forever. The ultimate record -- the way music was meant to be heard and of superior quality for any Audiophile. KOZMIC BLUES was Janis Joplin's first solo Album after she left Big Brother and the Holding Company. The one big change from Big Brother was that this release centered around a horn section that received a very positive response when Janis toured Europe the Spring of this LP's release. There was considerable turnover among the players pulled in for the sessions and considerable discontent as well. The best tracks on this Album resulted from a single session in June of 1969 - superbly delivered renditions of "One Good Man" and Little Girl Blue" with Mike Bloomfield on guitar. The Rogers & Hart Estates, however, absolutely loathed Joplin's version of this song. Joplin changed the words somewhat and made a magnificent tear-jerker out of a song that was first performed by Doris Day. When Janis Joplin died in October 1970 at t he early age of 27, thus involuntarily confirming the beatnik adage "live fast, love hard, die young," it was only a matter of time before she was crowned the "Queen of Rock." Of greater importance than this posthumous entry into rock 'n' roll's hall of fame is the recognition during her lifetime of her explosive vocal style, which - so Vogue - "turned the whole history of singing upside down." Joplin's discography is just as short and changeable as her life. After two LP releases with the standard "cast" of rock musicians in the band Big Brother And The Holding Company, with whose excellent musical support she obtained her first recording contract with Columbia Records in 1968, the company provided her with a group augmented with organ and winds. For those Woodstock fans whose ears are still ringing with the band's full, meaty wind sound and Janis' bluesy soul singing, this album is an absolute must. Songs included are TRY JUST A LITTLE BIG HARDER - MAYBE - AS GOOD AS YOU'VE BEEN TO THIS WORLD - SOMEBODY TO LOVE - KOZMIC BLUES - WORK ME LORD. SKU Number: DOLP 9913 |

"Janis Joplin, Live In Concert (2 LPs - 180 Gram)"One of the Top 40 Artists of All-Time, there are only three women on that list -- one is Aretha Franklin, the other is Joni Mitchell, and the third is Janis Joplin. LIVE IN CONCERT - This Double LP Collection is from concerts with Big Brother and the Holding Company and Full Tilt Boogie - All Is Loneliness - with Big Brother was an inspirational vehicle for Joplin unlike any other and no other performance of this tune which conveys the terrifying loneliness is even remotely similar. The version here was recorded at a 1970 reunion with Big Brother and Janis"there ain't no tv, no radio, no nothin' man" simply rips your heart out. We are also treated to the improptu 12 bar blues of - Ego Rock - where Nick Gravenites and Janis toss blues lines back and forth in an affectionate but competitive repartee. Janis was looped during the outdoor gigs with Full Tilt - a lot of Tequila went down the hatch on the festival train that puffed its way across Canada in July of 1970. It was four months before Joplin died and her Calgary performance of - Ball and Chain - is inspired, brilliant, drunk, uncanny and frightening. It is like work from the other side. Also included on this LP are - Down On Me - Bye Bye Baby - Piece Of My Heart - Road Block - Flower In The Sun - a cover of Gershwin's Summertime - Half Moon - Cosmic Blue - Move Over - Try Just A Little Bit Harder - Get It While You Can. Mymusicfix has an exclusive list of these Silver Edition titles you will not find at any Audiophile Vinyl Dealer anywhere (Silver Collection refers to the marketing sticker attached on the front and back of the sealed product - not the Second Generation and beyond Gold Stickers). His guitar-slinging contributions to the Yardbirds having dwarfed those of Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck spent the next several years playing blues-rock (the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart), soul-rock (the second edition of that band), and leading a power trio. Then, he made this all-instrumental album, which was a huge 1975 success. BLOW BY BLOW - Produced by George Martin, the nine-song session finds Beck fronting a keyboards-bass-drums outfit, augmented by some tastefully unobtrusive string arrangements. Call it a jazz-fusion album at your own risk. While Beck's playing is less in-your-face than his previous efforts, all the fierce attack, thick tone, microtonal bends, distortion, feedback, vibrato, sustain, sonic hoodoo, and rhythmic and harmonic creativity that the man's fans have come to know and love can be heard here. "Freeway Jam" boasts the most memorable melody and thus remains a Classic Rock staple to this day. "Cause We've Ended As Lovers"--written by Stevie Wonder--is Beck's gorgeous tribute to one of his own guitar-heroes, the now-deceased Roy Buchanan. Selections: 1. You Know What I Mean 2. She's A Woman 3. Constipated Duck 4. Air Blower 5. Scatterbrain 6. Cause We've Ended As Lovers 7. Thelonius 8. Freeway Jam 9. Diamond Dust NEXT IN THIS COLLECTION IS THE TREMENDOUSLY RARE LONG OUT OF PRINT 1997 EMI 1ST CENTENARY U.K. PRESSED VINYL COLLECTION OF JEFF BECK - BECK -OLA THIS PRESSING IS DIRECT METAL MASTERED - VIRGIN VINYL - WITH HEAVY QUALITY SLEEVES - These FOREIGN pressings are sent with the vinyl outside of the jackets when being shipped to the U.S. to protect the covers from damage. Once inside the our wherehouse we then protectively seal the title in a loose re-sealable plastic cover to ensure the quality of the product. This title is brand new & never played condition. Don't Miss out BECAUSE THIS TITLE IS NOW CURRENTLY OUT OF PRINT AND COULD BE GONE FOREVER. BECK-OLA If the Jeff Beck Group's 1968 debut, "Truth" is the blueprint for Led Zeppelin's debut as well as much of what we might call hard rock or metal through the '70s (Van Halen, etc) and beyond, "Beck-Ola," the 1969 followup is savage, malevelont, and chaotic, albeit less accessable. Certainly the more calculating Jimmy Page never put out anything quite so raw, in every sense of the word. The edgy quality makes it no surprise that the amazing lineup - Beck, Ron Wood, Rod Stewart, Nicky Hopkins, and in place of Mick Waller, drummer Tony Newman - broke up three months after its completion. Beck has switched to a '54 Stratocaster, and "Beck-Ola" suggests Led Zeppelin having a showdown with the Stooges circa "Funhouse." Wood and Stewart wrote most of the material, and it is here that Stewart's songwriting voice (his humor especially) is first evident (check "Spanish Boots"). In the same vein as TRUTH, albeit minus quieter moments like "Ol' Man River", "Morning Dew" and "Greensleeves", BECK-OLA is a rip-roaring, nearly perfect hard rock follow up. Once again, Stewart's signature vocal style steals much of the show, as he is simply amazing on every track in which he appears. Energetic covers of "All Shook Up" and "Jailhouse Rock" (the latter with some particularly superb piano) stand alongside some of Beck's finest original hard rockers "Spanish Boots" and "Plynth", with riffs that would have made Zeppelin proud. The ever-present Zep connection continues with the epic closing cut "Rice Pudding", anchored by its larger-than-life riff and multi-layered, shifting guitar solos (especially the soaring slide segment). BECK-OLA was to be his last consistent work for six years, until the arrival of the very different BLOW BY BLOW. This album is highly recommended to fans of Beck, Stewart, the early metal/Zep sound and hard rock in general. Track Listings 1. All Shook Up 2. Spanish Boots 3. Girl from Mill Valley 4. Jailhouse Rock 5. Plynth (Water Down the Drain) 6. Hangman's Knee 7. Rice Pudding EMOTION & COMMOTION - The guitar virtuoso returns with his first album of new material in seven years featuring guest vocalists Joss Stone, Imelda May and Olivia Save. With his performance at the 2010 Grammy Awards ceremonies, one of the few British winners on a night dominated by Americans, Beck underlined his legendary status as one of the most revered musicians in the world and performed Les Paul's How High The Moon with Irish singer Imelda May. Imelda also appears on Beck's long-time-comin' studio album, "Emotion & Commotion", as a featured artist on the track "Lilac Wine". Beck is one of the UK's true music heroes, a visionary musician and guitar god admired by everyone from Eric Clapton to Morrissey. "Making this record took me back to the feeling I had making Blow By Blow." - Jeff Beck "...both collaborations with British soul singer Joss Stone catch fire, and "Lilac Wine" with Imelda May is as memorable as Jeff Buckley's version... The sonics are full, with rich textures, as befits so much variety and color." - Jeff Wilson, The Absolute Sound, June/July 2010 issue, pg. 126. Stroll On PLUS THE BONUS OF DONOVAN & THE JEFF BECK GROUP BARABAJAGAL - 140 GRAM U.S. PRESSING - Aside from the obvious mainstream track ("Atlantis"), this record is solid, and represents, in my mind, what Donovan should have done his entire career. The collaborations between himself and the Jeff Beck group are brilliant rockers, and are sure to get stuck in your head "Trudi," "Pamela Jo," and "Barabajagal" are all sing-along worthy, "To Susan on the West Coast Waiting" is a slower number you really have to "listen" to understand and appreciate. "Superlungs, my Supergirl" is superb for rocking out to, with its subtle, yet striking horn section. "The Love Song," "I Love my Shirt," and the rest of the tracks (save for "Where is She") are Donovan. SKU Number: * |
