"Stan Getz & Gary McFarland, Big Band Bossa Nova - 180 Gram"The Stan Getz LPs Jazz Samba for small ensemble and the classic Focus for big band were surprisingly big sellers so it is no wonder that Verve producer Creed Taylor, himself an arranger and fan of light, airy strings, put the two components together. The young Gary McFarland took melancholy Brazilian themes by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto and Luiz Bonfa, wrote four songs himself and combined the lightfootedness of the bossa nova with the cool, toned-down emotions so typical for Stan Getz's sound in the Sixties. Verve gathered together the best musicians for the studio recording: Clark Terry, Bob Brookmeyer and Jim Hall were there to produce a carpet of sound over which Stan Getz could float. At the beginning of the Sixties, Stan was, of course, at the very top of his form as far as sound perfection goes. After an "apprenticeship" with swing bands in the mid-Forties and "further training" with classical small ensembles in the Fifties, he found his ideal source of the art of improvisation: Brazilian music with its song-like, simple themes, Latin-American rhythms and melodic intervals. And these brought him acclaim, fame and money. The original gatefold sleeve, with a drawing by Olga Albizu, was the object of many a collector's desire. Now, 40 years later, both LP and cover are available once again in excellent sound and print quality. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Stan Getz & Luiz Bonfa, Jazz Samba Encore -180 Gram"When Stan Getz and Luiz Bonfa surprised the Americans with their first samba recording they did not imagine that this was to be their biggest success together. With such titles such as "Desafinado" and "One Note Samba", Brazilian pop music stormed the borders. So popular was the music that voices cried for more - and the VERVE producers satisfied the fans with Jazz Samba Encore. The music contained in this album delved somewhat deeper into the heart of Brazilian melodies. Bonfa and Jobim, the composers and famous guitarists, picked up their instruments and both they and their soloists, - Maria Toledo in particular proves herself a maestra of her country's music -, proceeded to delight their fans with their seemingly effortless music-making. Although he was not Brazilian and only later became a samba expert, Stan Getz fits amazingly well into this ensemble. His full tenor voice even in the upper regions and his rippling legato are wholly characteristic of his art. A delightful sound and natural rhythm - above all, rhythm! - make this record a "must" for every party. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Stan Getz, Getz/Gilberto - 180 Gram"Stan Getz / Gilberto - 180 Gram Limited Edition classic audiophile analog LP . Two names spring to mind upon hearing the words jazz and samba , namely those of Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto. But really one should be thinking of Antonio Carlos Jobim, who, with his composition from 1958 Chega de saudade, first created the type of Brazilian samba that is known today as bossa nova. It was with one of Jobim's songs, Desafinado, that the bossa nova began its triumphant conquest of the USA. In 1962, Stan Getz made the work widely known when he recorded the number, together with Charlie Byrd, on his album Jazz Samba. It was this recording, along with Focus (1961), which was responsible for Getz's definitive comeback in the USA at that same time. Jazz Samba opened the floodgates to a new musical vogue, and although cool jazz had been swept aside by hard bop, the reserved and melancholy touch of Getz's style once again became all the rage. It is really not at all surprising, therefore, that the album Getz/Gilberto, recorded in March 1963 for the Verve label, was a winner right from the very start, bringing together as it did the two godfathers of samba Jobim and Gilberto with their American brother Getz. This music is like a pleasantly warm bath whose water is perfumed with essential oil, or like a mild summer night bathed in golden moonlight. The songs, all of them now classics in their own right, are filled with the joy of life, peace and harmony. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. The Girl from Ipanema 2. Doralice 3. P'ra Muchucar 4. Desafinado 5. Corcovado 6. So Dance Samba 7. O Grande Amor 8. Vivio Sonhando SKU Number: 0098545 |

No wonder it retains its attraction 30 years after first being issued. More proof that we're living in the second coming of analog." Music = 10/11; Sound = 10/11 - Michael Fremer, "If you were an audiophile in the 70s, you owned Aja." - Rolling Stone, 2001, placing it No. 145 of the 500 Greatest Albums Ever Recorded And now, in commemoration of its 30th anniversary, Aja IS BACK - IN EVEN GREATER GLORY! Remastered by Kevin Gray, cut at AcousTech Mastering, Pressed on virgin 180-gram vinyl at RTI! Aja has now gotten the royal treatment! This reissue has been personally approved by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker as well as Aja recording engineer Elliot Scheiner. "(Aja) is the most perfect thing I have ever heard in my life. It is a religion." - Gareth Jones, renowned record producer/engineer Long argued as one of the (if not THE) best rock recording ever and a permanent fixture on many a demo system in the late '70s and '80s, Aja was the culmination of everything Donald Fagen and Walter Becker aspired to accomplish in their storied careers. It was the first album certified platinum (eventually selling more than 5 million copies in the U.S.) by the then-new RIAA sales tracking system. It made Steely Dan superstars. It contained three ubiquitous U.S. Top 40 singles in "Peg," "Josie" and "Deacon Blues," though each of the seven tracks are wonderful. And then there's the sound. Deservedly winning the 1978 Grammy Award for non-classical engineering, Roger "The Immortal" Nichols was helped by a who's-who of the top audio guys in the industry: Bill Schnee, Al Schmitt and Elliot Scheiner. The meticulous recording is almost fetishistic in its attention to detail. Every note of even the densest tracks can be clearly heard, with every instrument perfectly placed. "Steely Dan, Can't Buy A Thrill - 180 Gram Vinyl"180 Gram Limited Edition Analog Virgin Vinyl. Apart from the now classic songs such as Dirty Work, Midnight Cruiser, Reelin' The Years and of course the unforgettable Do It Again, it goes without saying that all the others titles are endowed with all those qualities which make Steely Dan so unique. "Stephen Stills, Manassas (2 LPs)"Classic Original Master 1st Generation 180 Gram Pressing, "Out of Print, Last Copies" Stephen Stills - MANASSAS - Double LP Steven Stills/Manassas 2 LPs After stops in The Buffalo Springfield, CSN(&Y) and a few solo albums for the Atlantic label, Stills recruited musical kindred-spirits including the likes of Chris Hillman (The Byrds) to form Manassas. It's a big bubbling cauldron of country-rock-blue(s)- grass with blue eyed soul mixings plus Stills' penchant for Latin riffs (Suite: Judy Blue Eyes) thrown in for flavor. "Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan, Family Style - 180 Gram"180 Gram Limited Edition Analog Virgin Vinyl. STEVIE RAY & Jimmie VAUGHAN - FAMILY STYLE- 180 Gram Limited Edition Heavy Vinyl pressing. Steve Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash on August 27, 1990 just as the first single from this LP, the beautiful Motown Soul inspired workout "Tic Tock," was about to climb the charts and make the Blues Rock hero an international superstar. Thankfully, he was able to make this delightful and laid back album with his brother. For Jimmie and Stevie Ray, it was a kind of spiritual re-union. Jimmie had followed Stevie down the road to sobriety. These New York City sessions were a spirited collaboration intended to mark the beginning of their musical partnership. While some tunes sound like the result of mere jamming, Telephone Song, is one of Stevie's best numbers, an eloquent Blues shout with screaming guitar breaks and Jimmie's B-3 organ like textures on steel guitar astound. Other songs included here are - Hard To Be - White Boots - D/Fw - Good Texan - Hillbillies From Outer Space - Long Way From Home - Baboom/Mama Said and Brothers. SKU Number: DOLP 31350 |

"Stevie Ray Vaughan, Couldn't Stand The Weather"180 Gram Limited Edition Analog Virgin Vinyl. Stevie Ray Vaughan makes the point that music used to be more based on common everyday occurrences like a train sound going down the track or a horse walking. This LP includes Vaughan's heartbreak chronicles Couldn't Stand The Weather and Cold Shot, his first jazzier Stang's Swang, and his initial Hendrix outing - Voodoo Chill (Silent Return). It's the sound of the guitar hero growing as an artist on his own terms side-stepping the irony that poisoned '90s rock to stay true to the real life aesthetic of the Blues. Also included are Scuttlebutting - Things I Used To Do - Tin Pan Alley - Honey Bee. SKU Number: DOLP 39304 |

"Stevie Wonder, Innervisions"180 Gram Limited Edition Analog Virgin Vinyl. INNERVISIONS Rated the 31st best album in history., One of Stevie Wonder's best albums, and the one where his more fanciful, free-form moments gel perfectly with his knack for irresistible pop singles, 1973's Innervisions swings between delicate and airy ballads, Latin-influenced rhythms (the hit "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing"), and his own synth-heavy versions of gut-bucket soul (the determined spiritual questing of "Higher Ground"). The striking juxtaposition between "Vision," a barely breathed hope that a world of peace might be upon us, and the great "Living for the City," a funky, pulsing tale of racism, is powerful, haunting, and still all too relevant. "Stevie Wonder, Talking Book - 180 Gram LP"Talking Book - 180 Gram Vinyl I think "Innversisons" is Stevie Wonder's best album in terms of providing a overall statement, but "Talking Book" is the better collection of songs. "Superstition" is my all time favorite Stevie Wonder song, a hard funk masterpiece that justifies the invention of the clavinet. That was the song that made all of America either reexamine the artist formerly known as Little Stevie Wonder or got them to take notice of him in the first place because from that point on there was no doubt the man was a major artist. As a general rule I am less enamored of his ballads, but "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" is certainly his most palatable, but "Blame It On The Sun" strikes me as being a bit better, maybe just because it never received as much airplay or was covered as much as the original. I tend to like "Maybe Your Baby" and especially "Big Brother" as the non-hits that are always what makes a great album truly great. Attention must also be paid to the lovely multi-part harmonies on "I Believe" and the guitar work of Jeff Beck on "Looking For Another Pure Love." The motion on the floor remains the same: at a bare minimum you have to have "Talking Book," "Innervisons," and a good hits collection (e.g., "The Definitive Collection") in your music library. So when the arbiters of good taste come knocking on your door to check out what you have, do not say you were not warned. -- Features "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life," (#3 1972), other tracks include: "Maybe Your Baby" "You And I (We Can Conquer The World)" "Tuesday Heartbreak" "You've Got It Bad Girl" "Superstition" "Big Brother" "Blame It On The Sun" "Lookin' For Another Pure Love" "I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)" SKU Number: DOLP MOT919 |

"Super Session, Mike Bloomfield / Al Kooper / Stephen Stills - 180 Gram"Mike Bloomfield - Al Kooper - Steven Stills - SUPER SESSION 180 Gram Limited Edition classic IN IT'S ORIGINAL 1ST EDITION 180 GRAM PRESSING FROM THE ORIGINAL LABEL. To understand this SUPER SESSION, you must understand that Mike Bloomfield was the premiere guitarist in the United States in the late sixties. When Eric Clapton and Cream came to the United States, the only person who really impressed them was Mike Bloomfield (who was playing lead guitar for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Al Kooper, who created The Blues Project and established Blood, Sweat & Tears with their debut album,CHILD IS FATHER TO THE MAN, and also was the main contributer to Bob Dylan's classic album, BLONDE ON BLONDE and was one of the best producers in the business. Steven Stills was inbetween playing with The Buffalo Sprinfield and was just in the evolution of starting Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. SUPER SESSION has Mike Bloomfield ripping on his Gibson guitar laying down some of the most instrumentals you have ever heard with Al Kooper. On the second side with Al Kooper, Steven Stills does an eleven-minute rendition of "Season Of The Witch" which will blow you away. As the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) had done a year earlier, Super Session (1968) initially ushered in several new phases in rock & roll's concurrent transformation. In the space of mere months, the soundscape of rock shifted radically from two- and three-minute danceable pop songs to comparatively longer works with more attention to technical and musical subtleties. Enter the unlikely all-star triumvirate of Al Kooper (piano/organ/ondioline/vocals/guitars), Mike Bloomfield (guitar), and Stephen Stills (guitar) -- all of whom were concurrently "on hiatus" from their most recent engagements. Kooper had just split after masterminding the definitive and groundbreaking Child Is Father of the Man (1968) version of Blood, Sweat & Tears. Bloomfield was fresh from a brief stint with the likewise brass-driven Electric Flag, while Stills was late of Buffalo Springfield and still a few weeks away from a more or less full-time commitment to David Crosby and Graham Nash. Although the trio never actually performed together, the long-player was notable for idiosyncratically featuring one side led by the team of Kooper/Bloomfield and the other by Kooper/Stills. The band is ably fleshed out with the powerful rhythm section of Harvey Brooks (bass) and Eddie Hoh (drums) as well as Barry Goldberg (electric piano) on "Albert's Shuffle" and "Stop." The heavy Chicago blues contingency of Bloomfield, Brooks, and Goldberg provide a perfect outlet for the three Kooper/Bloomfield originals -- the first of which commences the project with the languid and groovy "Albert's Shuffle." The guitarist's thin tone cascades with empathetic fluidity over the propelling rhythms. Kooper's frisky organ solo alternately bops and scats along as he nudges the melody forward. The same can be said of the funky interpretation of "Stop," which had originally been a minor R&B hit for Howard Tate. Curtis Mayfield's "Man's Temptation" is given a brass-fuelled soulful reading that might have worked equally well as a Blood, Sweat & Tears cover. At over nine minutes in spin time, "His Holy Modal Majesty" is a fun trippy waltz and includes one of the most extended jams on the Kooper/Bloomfield side. The track also features the distinct hurdy-gurdy and Eastern-influenced sound of Kooper's small electric keyboard-manipulated ondioline, which has a slightly atonal and reedy timbre much like that of John Coltrane's tenor sax. Because of some physical health issues, Bloomfield was unable to complete the recording sessions and Kooper contacted Stills. Immediately his decidedly West Coast sound -- which alternated from a chiming Rickenbacker intonation to a faux pedal steel -- can be heard on the upbeat version of Bob Dylan's "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry." One of the album's highlights is the churning and scintillating cover of "Season of the Witch." There is an undeniable synergy between Kooper and Stills, whose energies seems to aurally drive the other into providing some inspired interaction. Updating the blues standard "You Don't Love Me" allows Stills to sport some heavily amplified and distorted licks, which come off sounding like Jimi Hendrix. This is one of those albums that seems to get better with age and that gets the full reissue treatment every time a new audio format comes out. This is a super session indeed. 1. Albert's Shuffle 2. Stop 3. Man's Temptation 4. His Holy Modal Majesty 5. Really 6. It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry 7. Season Of The Witch 8. You Don't Love Me 9. Harvey's Tune SKU Number: DOLP 9701 |

"Sweetwater, Sweetwater"SWEETWATER - SWEETWATER 180 Gram Limited Edition classic LP high-definition Heavy Virgin Vinyl pressing for superior fidelity. There are great songs about everything from rebellion to romatic walk. One of my personal favorites is My Crystal Spider. The lyrics are so detailed and descriptive that you can imagine the mystical creature. Then the spider is brought to life with August Burns' cello solo. I personally had never before heard a cello solo before. This is really fun CD to listen to at any time of the day at any day of the year. The music is so awesome that its just a euphoric magical ride through each song. Their 1968 debut introduced Sweetwates unusual blend of jazz, folk, rock, blues and classical influences, with an atypical, guitar-free line-up of keyboards, bass, cello, flute and percussion backing Nancy Nevins soaring vocals. The bands signature adaptation of 'Motherless Child' leads off, followed by 'Here We Go Again; For Petes Sake; Come Take a Walk; Whats Wrong; In a Rainbow; My Crystal Spider; Rondeau; Two Worlds; Through an Old Storybook', and 'Why Oh Why'. A West Coast psychedelic essential, produced by the legendary Dave Hassinger! Interesting that at Woodstock, Sweetwater was shortly preceeded by Richie Havens, the first performer to perform, who did his famous version of Motherless Child. I will never forget Nancy Nevins in her long gown, at the biginning of Sweetwater's set, starting the song from the back of the huge stage and slowly walking forward to the front. It was hot, there were SO many very cool people, we were not paying all that much attention to the music yet. The beginning of that song quieted and focused the crowd and things went from there...Not many people had heard of Sweetwater in mid August '69. For that matter, in a flyer that was distributed at the event, Santana was introduced "as this new great new act from San Francisco." Ah, those were the days... Shortly after Woodstock, Nevins sustained severe injury in a car wreck; the band disappeared. SKU Number: REPR 6313H |

"Syd Barrett, The Madcap Laughs - 180 Gram "SYD BARRETT 180 Gram Factory Sealed LP - NOW OUT OF PRINT - THE MADCAP LAUGHS Collectors Alert: Many of these Simply Vinyl Titles will never be available again. Their license to produce these 180 Gram Masterpieces with Universal Records International has Ended. This means that this specific title is now out of print forever and there are very few remaining is sealed condition. This title is going to skyrocket in value & price over the next few months. So Don't Miss Out on being one of the last people to own this outstanding pressing. This is one the last pressing you will ever see at this price. Don't Miss Out. THE MADCAP LAUGHS - History The title of the album comes from a line in the song Octopus. After leaving the group, Barrett began recording sessions with former Pink Floyd-turned-Syd Barrett manager Peter Jenner in May 1968. Although the sessions were brief, the project was abandoned for almost a year while Barrett spent much of the year as a recluse. In April 1969, Malcolm Jones took over the project and Barrett began working on newer material, while reworking the 1968 recordings. Session musicians, namely, members of The Soft Machine , as well as Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley were also called in to augment Barrett's songs. It is still a mystery why Jones abandoned production responsibilities, at the end of May, so soon after having assumed them. Jones' recollections of the sessions are that he and Barrett got on well together and had in fact completed half of the album before the new producers took over. Roger Water and David Gilmour were in the process of completing Pink Floyd's ambitious Ummagumma album when they got involved with The Madcap Laughs that July and helped Barrett finish his album, "in a two-day sprint" according to Rick Sanders, author of Pink Floyd (Futura Publications, 1976). The album featured a rather unorthodox recording process, in which Syd would provide a backing track of his own singing accompanied by acoustic guitar, over which the session musicians would overdub the rest of the arrangement. However, Syd's playing and singing were highly erratic and unpredictable-he skipped or added beats and bars seemingly at random, or otherwise he would strum on a single chord for a long time before unexpectedly reverting back to the main portion of the song. This was all much to the frustration of the session musicians; a close listen to several tracks [in particular "No Good Trying" and "Love You"] will reveal the backing band hovering uncertainly here, or being caught off-guard by a chord change there (during an interview, Robert Wyatt recounted that musicians would ask "What key is that in, Syd?" and Barrett would reply "Yeah", or "That's funny"). Syd would not allow the musicians to rehearse or re-record their overdubs, insisting that they sounded fine. After several months of intermittent recording, the album was finally deemed complete. The cover shows Syd Barrett in his living room. "Octopus" was released as a single in November 1969 and the album itself followed in January 1970. It reached #40 in the UK at the time[1] and was fairly well-reviewed. All songs by Syd Barrett, except where noted. 1. "T Rex, Electric Warrior - 180 Gram Vinyl"T REX - ELECTRIC WARRIOR- 180 Gram Vinyl - NOW OUT OF PRINT AND TREMENDOUSLY RARE IN THE 1ST EDITION 180 GRAM PRESSING. OUR LAST COPY. T. Rex's best album, ELECTRIC WARRIOR, distills the best elements of Marc Bolan's earlier acoustic period with a dynamic rock rhythm section--drummer Bill Legend and bassist Steve Currie--and lush arrangements by producer Tony Visconti. Featuring the classics "Bang a Gong (Get It On)," "Jeepster," and "Mambo Sun," ELECTRIC WARRIOR ranges from the space-blues of "Lean Woman Blues" to the punk-jazz of "Rip Off," with a sound fleshed out by chamber strings and the falsetto harmonies of ex-Turtles and Mothers of Invention Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman. (Zappa sideman Ian McDonald plays sax as well.) Touches such as the arcing cellos of "Cosmic Dancer" and the sexy rhythms of "Planet Queen" perfectly bring to life Bolan's imaginative world of "diamond star halos" and "shadowless horses." A must for any serious collector of British rock classics. SKU Number: FOLP LRHI76111 |

These FOREIGN pressings are sent with the vinyl outside of the jackets when being shipped to the U.S. to protect the covers from damage. Once inside the our wherehouse we then protectively seal the title in a loose re-sealable plastic cover to ensure the quality of the product. This title is brand new & never played condition. Don't Miss out. This is the height of Marc Bolan's songwriting ability and is one of those albums that flows seamlessly from the first song right through to the last. A perfect example of a classic rock album, it's boogie swagger and post hippie glam metal pop rock shake make it a firm soundtrack for the early seventies. There is so much good boogie pop rock that flows so easily from the fingertips of Mr. Bolan that no one ever really equalled T Rex in this genre of music. Song highlights: Metal Guru - an anthem for the glam generation, The Slider - the title track and easily one of T Rex's greatest songs, Buick MacKane, Chariot Choogle - two irresistably catchy chug along rockers, Telegram Sam - probably the best known song from the album. Get this LP you can't go wrong. Track Listings 1. Metal Guru 2. Mystic Lady 3. Rock On 4. Slider 5. Baby Boomerang 6. Spaceball Ricochet 7. Buick Mackane 8. Telegram Sam 9. Rabbit Fighter 10.
