This third Orbison release came on the heels of Lonely and Blue and Crying and includes the hits "Blue Bayou" and "All I Have To Do Is Dream." This Bill Porter recording directly onto two-track stereo offers two perspectives - mono from a fold of discreetly recorded stereo channels and a stereo presentation directly from the master. Porter intended the recording to be presented in Mono and as such recorded the channels discreetly so that the blend in combining (mixing) the two tracks makes for a perfectly layered musical presentation which supports Orbison's astonishing vocal exquisitely. Despite the good humor suggested by the jokey a capella reading of "Mother's Lament," however, all was far from peace and love in the Cream camp at the time, as internal and external pressures broke up the band by the end of 1968.

Boasting the first jazz instrumental to sell a million copies, the Paul Desmond-penned "Take Five," TIME OUT captures the celebrated jazz quartet at the height of both its popularity and its powers. Recorded in 1959, the album combines superb performances by pianist Brubeck, alto saxophonist Desmond, drummer Joe Morrello and bassist Gene Wright. Along with "Take Five," the album features another one of the group's signature compositions, "Blue Rondo a la Turk." Though influenced by the West Coast-cool school, Brubeck's greatest interest and contribution to jazz was the use of irregular meters in composition, which he did with great flair. Much of the band's appeal is due to Desmond, whose airy tone and fluid attack often carried the band's already strong performances to another level. This, his first solo effort, was recorded in 1971 (following Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's Deja Vu) and contains some of his most impressive vocal and songwriting work, including the haunting "Laughing," the mantra-like "Music Is Love," and the extended, impressionistic "Cowboy Movie." With guest appearances by such famous friends as Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Grace Slick, and Jerry Garcia, it's a fascinating chapter in an always-interesting career that's all too often been overshadowed by headlines. For anyone who truly appreciates the scope, verve, and power of sixties music, this LP literally says volumes. Using an eclectic and heavily electric but dreamy LA sound base, Crosby weaves a series of thoughtful, mystic, and mysterious moods with this music. From the dreamy opening bars of "Music is Love" through the fanciful strains of "Cowboy Movie" all the way to the haunting strains of "Laughing", he shows why he has so many friends in the music business. ll of CSN&Y are here, appearing alone or in combinations on individual song cuts.
