"The Temptations, Puzzle People"PUZZLE PEOPLE - This is The Temptations first 1970's album. This album is very funky and contains some of their best harmonies. It includes such hits as "I Can't Get Next To You", "Don't Let The Joneses Get You Down" and "Message From A Black Man". Time was running out for member Paul Williams at this point as he was battling alcohol abuse. He does some of his best singing on this album. He quit touring with the band shortly after the release of this album. This unfortunately is another Hard-to find LP. If you get your hands on it it's well worth the buy. Track Listings 1. I Can't Get Next to You 2. Hey Jude 3. Don't Let the Joneses Get You Down 4. Message from a Black Man 5. It's Your Thing 6. Little Green Apples 7. You Don't Love Me No More 8. Since I've Lost You 9. "The White Stripes, ST - CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK"Jack sings with a sometimes soaring, sometimes abrasive abandon that shows he really means the lyrics he's singing. Combine that with his fierce, dirty, reverb-soaked guitar playing and Meg's powerfully minimal start/stop drumming, and you've got a rock band that is primal, melodic, punk and sophisticated all at once. 17 tracks of blissful noise They are also one of the best live bands for your buck. Considering most of their songs are like 3 minute blows to your head, its really amazing that they can actually play a 1 1/2 hour set. They sweat, they rock, and they tear through their music like a sledgehammer. and all with a smile. You will smile too and be thankful the white stripes are knocking on your door. The first two rockers, "Jimmy the Explorer" and a cover of Robert Johnson's "Stop Breaking Down", are like a breath of fresh air. There are other hints of greatness here as well, including the power blues of "Suzy Lee", the acoustic blues of "Sugar Never Tasted So Good" (the latter being a taste of what was to come with the follow-up record, 'De Stijl' (2000)), and the old-school blues (we're talking 1930s here) of "St. James Infirmary Blues". "The White Stripes, White Blood Cells - CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK"Classic Analog European LP Pressing Despite the seemingly instant attention surrounding them < glowing write-ups in glossy magazines like Rolling Stone and Mojo, guest lists boasting names like Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson, and appearances on national TV < the White Stripes have stayed true to the approach that brought them this success in the first place. White Blood Cells, Jack and Meg White's third effort wraps their powerful, deceptively simple style around meditations on fame, love, and betrayal...Few garage rock groups would name one of their most driving numbers "I'm Finding It Harder to Be a Gentleman," and fewer still would pen lyrics like "I'm so tired of acting tough/I'm gonna do what I please/Let's get married," but it's precisely this mix of strength and sweetness, among other contrasts, that makes the White Stripes so intriguing." - All Music Guide -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "The Who, A Quick One"This Limited Edition Audiophile Mastered LP 150 Gram Heavy Vinyl LP has been critically acclaimed as the finest and quietest ever produced of this recording. Don't Miss Out. Please also visit mymusicfix e-bay stores site for individual WHO Titles, Rare Vinyl Records or 24k Gold CD's at http://stores.ebay.com/Mymusicfix Check out my other items! It is a new listening experience that will virtually make you feel as if you were in the studio with the band. There have been so few vinyl LPs produced over the last 5 years that you should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever. The group's second album is a less impressive outing than their debut, primarily because, at the urging of their managers, all four members penned original material though wrote more than anyone else). The pure adrenaline of also subsided somewhat, as the band began to grapple with more complex melodic and lyrical themes, especially on the erratic mini-opera, "A Quick One While He's Away." Still, there's some great madness on instrumental "Cobwebs and Strange," and delivered some solid mod pop with "Run Run Run" and "So Sad About Us." was also revealed to be a writer of considerable talent (and a morbid bent) on "Whiskey Man" and "Boris the Spider." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "The Who, BBC Sessions Live - Double LP"THE WHO - BBC SESSIONS LIVE- DOUBLE LP - Limited Edition analog Vinyl U.K. pressing One of the most creative and explosive bands of the '60s. The Who didn't record an official live album until 1970. For fans of the revved-up, introspective, and humorous fare that made records such as My Generation, Sell Out, and A Quick One instant classics, 1970 was a good three years too late. Rather than referring to sometimes-dodgy bootlegs to discover what "Pictures of Lily," "Disguises," or "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" sounded like live, we are now presented with a surprisingly clear document of the band at--arguably--their peak. A fabulous portrait of the artists as a young band, the disc brims with minor revelations--chief among them that they were pretty sorry as an R&B outfit and that (surprise) with Moon, Entwhistle, and Townshend bashing about, even a mid-tempo number like "Happy Jack" was a total scorcher live. The band blazes through these songs so fast -- and you thought the Ramones and the Minutemen invented that kind of lightning-speed concision -- that it's easy to miss how perfectly constructed they are. The Who's sound rests on the tension between carefully defined pop-song structures pushed to the breaking point by the band's propulsive, chaotic power. Singer Roger Daltrey and bassist John Enthwhistle are hardly slouches, but guitarist Pete Townshend and drummer Keith Moon are true wonders. They wail with such unrestrained glee that they frequently threaten to blow these songs apart. Then, by some miracle, they land in time, and the song ends. All that in two-and-a-half minutes -- with lovely, Beach Boys-derived vocal harmonies to boot. That's why it's earned the right to be called classic rock -- and why this disc is such an unadulterated pleasure from start to finish. 1. My Generation [Radio 1 Jingle] 2. "The Who, Who's Next & The Liifehouse Project (3 LPs) - EuroSealed"Classic Analog LP Pressing "Euro-Sealed" THE WHO - Who's Next Limited Deluxe Edition 3 LP SET - BECOMING TREMENDOUSLY RARE AND ONE OF ONLY TWO COPIES WE HAVE LEFT FOREVER. This is the 1990's original Collection pressing. These FOREIGN pressings are sent with the vinyl outside of the jackets when being shipped to the U.S. to protect the covers from damage. Once inside the our wherehouse we then protectively seal the title in a loose re-sealable plastic cover to ensure the quality of the product. This title is brand new & never played condition. This album was originally released in August of 1971 and became The Whos most acclaimed work (recently voted the Thirteenth Best Album of All-Time and The Whos only #1 Album ever). Springing out of Pete Townsend's never fulfilled realized "Lifehouse Project" which is cover in the two bonus LP's, it revolutionized popular music by introducing the use of pre-programmed synthesizers and sequencing. Variously informed by apocalyptic visions, sci-fi notions of interconnectivity that neatly presaged the internet and, of course, an unwavering conviction that rock & roll would save the world, the core tracks of the sprawling Lifehouse were recorded, cut, re-recorded and finally boiled down into a collection that seems to represent as much alienation ("Behind Blue Eyes") and overweening cynicism ("Won't Get Fooled Again") as it does liberation and unity. Aside from Townshend's own self-released, multi-disc meditation on the project, this expanded new edition is the most rewarding attempt to place Lifehouse and the over-exposed classic it spawned in their proper context. Six tracks from the album's original, but abandoned New York sessions flesh out the familiar material, with previously unreleased outtakes of "Getting in Tune" and a revealing, early arrangement of "Won't Get Fooled Again" warranting special note. The second disc documents one of Lifehouse's most quixotic elements with the first-time release of one of the series of concerts staged at London's Young Vic theater during the project's gestation, events during which band and audience would somehow mystically become One. Core tracks from the project are interspersed with typical hard-rocking Who fare of the time, resulting in a show whose focus and dynamics belied something very different from the arena-rock cliches that would eventually overwhelm them. But it still produced The Who's Next LP that features some of The Whos all-time biggest tracks including the Seventeenth Best Single of All-Time - Won't Get Fooled Again - Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes and more. Who's Next set a rock standard that even its creators struggled to emulate. This LP was principally recorded at Olympic Studios in England and had additional personnel of Leslie West, guitar - Nicky Hopkins, piano - Al Kooper, organ. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings Disc One - Side One The Original Album 1. "Thelonious Monk Quartet PLus 2, At The Blackhawk"THELONIOUS MONK - LIVE AT THE BLACKHAWK FACTORY SEALED LP Although the original album notes by producer Orrin Keepnews understandably do not discuss the situation, this forceful on-the-job recording came into being as a last-minute emergency. Monk had been scheduled to make a sextet album as co-leader with West Coast-based star drummer Shelly Manne, but after two days' work, all concerned admitted that the chemistry wasn't there. The producer, reluctant to return to New York empty-handed, added Harold Land and Joe Gordon (brought up from Los Angeles for the abandoned project) to the Monk working group for one night. The almost-impromptu results, following quite brief rehearsal and tune-learning, are a triumph of jazz improvisation and a tribute to the unquenchable spirit of Thelonious Monk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Thelonious Monk Trio"10 Inch LP Monk came to Prestige from Blue Note where he recorded with several groups of varying sizes including some trios. At Prestige, his first two dates (October and December 1952) were strictly in a trio context with Art Blakey on the first and Max Roach on the second. Two other selections, with Blakey, come from a 1954 trio session. This album contains the debut recordings of "Little Rootie Tootie," "Bemsha Swing" and "Blue Monk." These Prestige 10-inch LPs were pressed several years ago in the U.S. for a custom order to Japan. The remaining stock is extremely limited and therefore highly collectable. The covers match the original graphics. There are no bar codes or legal lines. Get 'em while they last. "Thelonious Monk w Sonny Rollins, Brilliant Corners"THELONIOUS MONK WITH SONNY ROLLINS - BRILLIANT CORNERS - FACTORY SEALED LP - Out of Print This is a potpourri of Monk, with Rollins in on two of the recording dates. The 1953 session with Julius Watkins on French horn gives us "Friday the 13th," an elongated outing on one of those Monkian harmonic sequences that is at once minimal and liberating. "Work" and "Nutty" were to become two of Monk's most intriguing pieces. These trio versions, with the steady Percy Heath as the pivot, reveal once again the rapport enjoyed by Monk and Art Blakey. "The Way You Look Tonight" and "I Want to Be Happy" are companion tracks to the ballad performance of "More Than You Know" [Sonny Rollins/Moving Out. These renditions have a relaxed, swinging informality that lets you think you are eavesdropping at a session in Monk's West 63rd Street living room in 1954 on a night Sonny dropped in to blow. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track Listings 1. "Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane"THELONIOUS MONK with John Coltrane - CURRENTLY OUT OF PRINT With Coleman Hawkins, Ray Copeland/Trumpet - Gig Gryce/Alto Sax - Wilbur Ware/Bass - Art Blakey/Drums - Shadow Wilson/Drums. When Monk and Coltrane spent six months (beginning in the summer of 1957) working together at New York's Five Spot Cafe, it was an historic event which certainly should have been exhaustively recorded. But nonmusical conflicts made that impossible, leaving as the only permanent reminders of the momentous encounter the three remarkable quartet selections that highlight this album. "Thelonious Monk, Criss-Cross"Classic Analog LP Pressing. This second album of his from Columbia is one of his greatest. CRISS CROSS - Cut in a series of sessions from late 1962 through early 1963, this album features Monk backed by his longtime sideman Charlie Rouse on tenor and rhythm men Frank Dunlop on drums and John Ore on bass. The material is basically standard Monk. Heard hear are such Monk standards as "Hackensack", "Rhythm-A-Ning", and a superior Monk solo on "Crepuscule With Nellie". Overall the performances are exciting and energetic, the title track "Criss-Cross" stands out. This is fairly typical Monk from his Columbia years. He has long since established his personal style, but he still has a fresh imagination and produces fantastic performances throughout. Charlie Rouse is in top form as well. He was Monk's main hornman from the late 50's through most of the 60's. His extended stay within the realms of Monk's compositions and accompaniment pays off in a singular musical understanding between the two. He was such a part of Monk's group sound that a few of these tracks would sound odd with another hornman playing them. This is very nearly a great Monk album, and is recommended to all fans, or those new to his music. Track Listings 1. Hackensack 2. Tea for Two - Thelonious Monk, Caesar, Irving 3. Criss-Cross 4. Eronel 5. Rhythm-A-Ning 6. Don't Blame Me - Thelonious Monk, Fields, Dorothy 7. Think of One 8. Crepuscule With Nellie The tight-knit, driving group that includes Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, John Ore on bass, and Frankie Dunlop on drums, is all woven together by the magic that is Thelonious' piano. The albums swings like mad from start to finish, a must! SKU Number: DOLP 2038 |

"Thelonious Monk, In Action"Among Thelonious Monk's brilliant musical associations, the one with tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin sometimes gets overlooked. This 1958 recording catches the quartet with bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik and drummer Roy Haynes on its home turf, New York's Five Spot Cafe. Griffin's gruffly compressed sound and high-speed, coiling lines are a fine foil for Monk's spare and pointed comping, bringing a distinct and special intensity to Monk's music. Together the group turns in classic renditions of familiar Monk tunes, including a brilliant Griffin performance of "Blue Monk." Track Listings Side One 1. Light Blue 2. Coming on the Hudson 3.
